Hey Doug, Greg Mitchell here from back in the day. Congratulations on all your success. John Suhr is such a smart man, I can't say enough about that. Dave Friedman, you've made all this possible by deep diving into this subject matter. Great show, great guests. Hi Mark. Tell Jake hello for me.
After Vivian Campbell , Doug Aldrich is my favorite Dio guitar player. I saw him on the Killing The Dragon tour 20 years ago with Scorpions and Deep Purple, and he was amazing. Doug also did a phenomenal job in Whitesnake. He also looks the same as he did 20 years ago.
Doug's live performances with Dio and the 'Evil or Divine' show aswel as the 'Live In The Still of the Night 2004' with Whitesnake have been hugely influential for myself. A hell of a guy and guitarist, cheers for the upload Gents.
I met Doug when he first hit L.A. and formed Lion with, what I consider the best vocalist of rock, Kal Swann. He was a super cool guy then and hasn't changed at all. Super nice and accommodating to fans as well as anybody he comes into contact with. So happy for his continued success and wish him a long and prosperous career.
Just seen Doug on stage. Great performance. His is the torchbearer of classic rock and metal. It is good to have a young chap following in the footsteps of the old rockers to keep rock alive.
Doug is awesome, I saw him and Reb with Whitesnake and it was incredible. I always thought he would have been an awesome fit for Ozzy. Everything he has done has been super cool, great tone and unique playing.
I agree with David. The sound men complaining about guitar volume being to loud is nonsense! When I used play out back in the early 90's through the early 2000's. The sound gut would mic our half stacks all the time. Think how loud the pa system was that you were micing a half stack. It was never loud enough back in the day.
Doug is such a beast. Great tone, great playing (great name 😎). I watched that Holy Diver concert DVD he did with Dio a ton when I was a kid and his sound was imprinted in my brain as the best Marshall sound I’ve ever heard. Super aggressive and I dig that a ton!
Doug has not aged ! Phenomenonal guitar player, also a very humble guy it seems. First time commenting for me, I stumbled on your channel about a month ago when I watched the Rex Brown interview - I've been watching though a good handful of interviews since. Keep up the great work ! From Ricky, in the UK.
Thanks guys and Doug for answering my questions, which i see he was really into it and answering it!! :) @ 40:05 in to 48:12!!! :O Holy crap, wasn't expecting 8 minutes on one question!! lol Thanks again.
Damn it!! I missed seeing this live! I mentioned having him on in comments on past videos. I’m sure many others did, too. I met Doug at NAMM…a genuinely nice guy and absolute monster player. One of my faves.
Super Stunner , Doug shouts out " The Shed" From Rainbow, The " Allan Holdsworth" Duncan Pickup and is a Lover of Suhr and Friedman ! I already Loved his work and he goes next level for me. Thanks All ! I Love The Tone Talks, I'm a Junkie Too !
Dave just gotta tell you you knocked it put of the freaking park with your two notes cabs! Just got the captor x and yours and the big hairy guitars cabs are by far my favorites available. Sounds so huge and sweet. Y’all did a great job on those. It’s crazy how much every Friedman product never fails to blow me away!
Les Paul's with wrap around tailpieces rock. I have a PRS SE Bernie Marsden with the wrap around, and I like it better that most Les Pauls, that I have played.
Red Seven coming...awesome....very curious about their Multi-Stereo Line mixer....Dave, seems like a perfect solution for a classic style rack....I may retire my Switchblade for one.
Dave, if you like broken sounds, check out the Electro Harmonix Ripped Speaker fuzz. It's like You Really Got Me and I Can't Get No Satisfaction in a box.
Those 2 guys are brothers I recon. One is younger and talkative and the other is a backup salesman guy. Doug, you can come and go taking a leak in breaks, but what the hell having you is fantastic. Play them something because you talk with your guitar :-)
Also he formed another band with Kal, the singer in Lion, called Bad Moon Rising. It was a short lived project but rocked hard and has some of his best writing I feel.
Doug is a monster player. Nobody in the world can play like him. Unique style, monstrous technique and massive tone! And so humble!
I couldn't agree Any more, man, well said!! I love Doug He's my favorite of all time.
Doug seems like a cool guy. I have always loved his playing.
