Everything you wanted to know about George Lynch, but we’re afraid to ask including:
Who really played on the “Breaking The Chains” record and who George says did not?
He auditioned twice for Ozzy Osbourne, once before Randy Rhoads and once after Brad Gillis.
For a short time he joined Ratt, while Warren Demartini joined Dokken!
Why he passed on joining RATT in 2018?
Did he receive offers to join Whitesnake & Judas Priest?
Does he think the original Dokken line up will record one more record?

George is my guitar hero growing up as a teenager in the 80s. Absolutely loved him and still love listening to his playing. I served him coffee in a little town on the edge of Phoenix called Cave Creek. I about shit my pants when I saw him walk in. He was humble and kind and he sat down and talk to me for like half an hour about his recording rig because we had the same type of recording rig. Anyhow he was very nice to me I couldn’t of been any happier that day. I got to buy him a cuppa coffee and then make it for him.

nice! I've met him twice signed my bfta disc & esp browsure...he said the Ferrari in the hunter video wasn't his but rented.... Now that I'm older, I'm preferring Jake E. Lee and other players over him, But I still know he's really talented....

I purchased one of George’s custom guitars off his website. I got off the phone with him the other night. Very gracious and professional man, I’m quite excited. As a 12-13 year old I never thought I could ever afford expensive dream guitars let alone one made by one of my guitar heroes. More importantly I can tell that he really is a man of conviction who has a passion for what he does. Lately I’ve taken a deeper look at his music and his work with Shadow Train/Shadow Nation. Mr. Scary is really an awesome person. I’m very humbled and gracious to have him make me a guitar and I will be playing it all the time. Rock on George! I also had no idea Richie Faulkner was his son in law, Richie is one of my all time favorite guitar players. Very cool stuff, fantastic interview.

It was many years later that I found out it was Brad. I thought the playing was fantastic and I love that album to this day....I know every note and sound that came out of Brad’s guitar as I must have listed to it several hundred times. For me, those were the original versions of those songs and all others had to compare with Brad. Cheers.

    • @thedesertdweller
      @thedesertdweller 2 роки тому +3

Yes yes yes, Dave Meniketti is in some ways the one of the principle figures of musical influence and inspiration for the "hair band" generation of musicians on the entire West Coast.... near God like status for those who know.
An amazing vocalist & guitarist with the best, most consistent, body of work in the 1980s, still fresh and listenable today whereas a lot of the 80s stuff hasn't aged well... be honest.
Unfortunately however, even though their music was phenomenal straight ahead hard riff oriented melodic insanely great rock n roll, Y&T never cultivated that near religious mytical "image", cultural freak agent of change or sex symbol which almost all the "major" rock stars that become household names do in terms of marketing. This goes all the way back to Elvis, The Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, KISS, Motley, U2, Bon Jovi, Poison, Lady Gaga, etc.
Maybe the problem was that Y&T was just too damm good as a live band they didn't feel the need to have a gimmick, wear mackup & costumes lol
With that said, as a live band in a smoky club, the vibe in the air, the energy off the stage at a Y&T show, even to this day, is the closest thing to hard rock heaven most people will ever experience:)
When they hit the road again, GO!

Great job, Jason, on the interview! I met George at a guitar demo in Atlanta, maybe early 2000's. He played a few songs, spoke to the small crowd at this guitar shop, then came down to speak to us. He was genuine, kind and signed autographs and spoke to everyone there that wanted to speak to him. He was friendly, super nice, and his humor shined through in the brief few sentences we exchanged, as I said I learned much of my guitar playing from his albums and wanted to be just like him, to which he laughed and said I should have higher standards haha! Such a genuine and down to earth guy! Very few human beings have that much talent with that much heart. Thanks for all the musical light you have brought into this world, George!

This was so awesome to hear George when he was kicking back and just relaxing..he is one of maybe 3 top influences for me..I am from the 80's,the best ever IMO time for the greatest guitar players ever.
    Great job done here!

George has a typcial midwest Sardonic very dry sarcastic sense of humor. He would have fit right in with me and my friends growing up in Chicago on the south side. I never understand how people don't know when he's taking the piss out of them.

Never seen George so relaxed. As a straight 54 year old male I have to say, he gets better looking with age. As far as the interviewer, you made him that relaxed. You did a great job.

George is a beast! Great interview. He helped create the soundtrack of an era and is still following his passion. A gentleman, a scholar musician, and a stud!

Great interview... The one guitarist that we all know deserved so much more. His story is like one out of the Bible. Traveling with Ozzy not getting paid then losing your home. Can't wait to hear the new album.

Awesome chat man! I love the Lynchmeister, his playing has had a massive impact on myself in a way that so few did, much like the late Great Gary Moore, Michael Schenker and the sadly other late Great King Edward Van Halen. Love the guy, Under Lock and Key, Wicked Sensation and his solo album Sacred Groove - my top 3 picks for Lynch at his best.

Wow - George is a really great guy - great interview Jason. Love how George has such a killer work ethic - 9 new albums coming out this year alone - incredible. He does have a killer sense of humor as well, Can't wait to hear his instrumental album. It's also great to see how involved George still is in his music - great player and great guy.... Damn, I was on the ARMY in the early 1980's and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Every weekend we would go to the Riverwalk to hang out and that would have been so cool to have seen George Lynch tearing it up in a Mariachi trio - so cool!!!!

Great interview, so much discussed that with hadn’t heard before. Briefly met George when he travelled to Australia to do a promotional meet and greet at a musical instrument store for ESP and Randall , he was very generous with his time and had a nice chat. Awesome guy almost sold him an amp lol
