    As an ex-4runner owner I loved your videos and found them very useful. Now as a 100 series Land Cruiser owner I am thrilled to see you creating content directly related to Land Cruisers. While there is a decent amount of "how to" videos on Land Cruiser maintenance etc on UA-cam, nothing is of the same caliber that you're creating. Cheers. Looking forward to more 100 series videos from the Toolman.

      Thanks Wesley. We're trying to expand to different models and generations of Toyota SUVs and Trucks to broaden our appeal to a bigger audience but it's just a matter of how much time we have. Since we still have full time jobs and this is a side gig for us, we can only put out so much content and still have a balanced life. When I retire from the fire service in a few years, i plan on ratcheting up the video production. Thanks for the kind words about our channel. We really appreciate it! Happy Wrenching!

    I really appreciate this video. I'm attempting my globe replacements today. This video has been very helpful as to what I need to do. **Thought I would give you an update. This job took me a while but everything went fairly smooth. To anyone attempting this, if you have a way of raising your vehicle it would be very helpful and you will be glad you did. I had some RV leveling blocks I used to get a little extra height. You need the extra height when you try to get the globes screwed in. You may have to contort your body to get the threads started. That was the most frustrating part due to the fact the globes are pretty heavy and you are like a twisted gymnast under the vehicle. Once completed, and ready to crank the car, I had forgotten to tighten one of the 5 fittings (zert?) I had bled the lines with. A good bit of suspension fluid squirted into my driveway before I realized what happened. Turned the car off and tightened the fitting. Unfortunately due to my error, I didn't have enough suspension fluid to completely refill the reservoir. I placed another order for a new can of fluid. I did, however, take it on a short test drive and it was smooth. No more pogo stick bouncing. Again, thank you for making this video.

    Great content. This video and the FSM were my guide to complete this job in my garage (I also upgraded the UCAs). One thing I went a little extra on was deleting the hydraulic lines that fed the old shocks in lieu of zip ties. If you trace the line back you can unscrew the fitting, cut and remove the line and install a brass plug.

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  3 роки тому +3

      Glad our video helped you out. It was my original plan to remove everything that was part of the AHC system but that would have taken extra time we did not have. Also, Ryan didn't seem too interested in removing everything, but if he ever does want to, we could shoot a Part 2 to this video showing the removal of the rest of the components.

      @@TimmyTheToolman Please do Part#2 of removing the AHC stuff. I've been meaning to do that on my rig. Also, How is the Ironman Nitrogas holding up.? My AHC started leaking and I choose Ironman coz it was on sale. I did the whole thing in Nov2020 Just before this video was released. After having used it for a year now without much offroading and just mild trails in New England, I think I would have been better off with Land Cruiser OEM shocks and springs. I do miss the plush AHC ride and OEM shocks would have been a better choice at least for my use of 90% backcountry/Highway and 10% dirt roads.

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  2 роки тому

      @@kamalmani695 Ryan hasn't told me anything about having issues with the Iron Man shocks so I'm assuming they are working fine for him. I don't know if Part 2 will happen. I sort of think it won't because Ryan has no plans to modify his rig further, like wanting to weld on rock rails, which would be a good reason to get all the hydraulic actuators and metal lines out of the way.

    Good job as always Timmy. If owner is having issue with HVAC,. Issue where it only kicks- on while in in "AUTO" MAX HOT or MAX COLD. It's likely because, a white hose that I did not see connected in video. I could see it was not in place during removal of dash lower molding. So you wouldn't have known to reconnect it. Look a few inch under IG SW (IG key) in lower molding of dash. You'll see small vent slits. Behind these slits, you connecting the wire to HVAC air sensor. A white hose also connects to this sensor. It's likely, the hose is push back under dash. I see this hose off often.

      Hey just an update. It worked great. For anyone else who might need it, I jacked up the truck, connected one end of the hook to the suspension above the bolt head in a hole on the suspension on the passenger side. I then connected the next hook to the left of the driver side bolt in another hole on the suspension. After a few cranks it was almost lined up so I use my pry bar and a screw driver to get the bolt in on one side. After that I jiggled the pry bar while pushing the nut with my hands and it went through. I did not need to knock it at this point. Happy DIY-ing!

    Great video and very informative! I'm the original owner of my 2001 LX470. It has over 256K and it starts every turn key. I feel that the truck bounces a bit! The AHC system seems to work just fine. At high speeds the suspension drops to eliminate wind drag and at low/normal driving it raises to its normal height like its twin the Land Cruiser. So, when I change the shocks do I also change the springs and torsion bars as well? That seems like a very expensive job...

      The torque values are listed in the Toyota factory service manual. You can access that information by buying a subscription to the Toyota Tech Info website. You do need a windows based computer though. The minimum system requirements are listed in a link at the bottom of the page. If I don't have the physical book for a vehicle, I buy a 2-day subscription for $20 and download the information I need for the job I'm doing.

      @Lancinator08 Ryan must have gotten the medium springd because he's got nothing aftermarket on his rig to add any weight to it. If you start adding aftermarket steel bumpers, winch, skid plates, roof rack or roof top tents, then you'd choose the springs appropriate for the weight you'll be carrying. You should also consider the weight you'll be carrying on trips.

      I don't know what the largest tire size you can run. It sort of depends on what you're willing to do. By running spacers and doing a little trimming in the wheel wells, you can maximize the size you can run. I don't want to throw out a tire size to you and be wrong. Maybe ask this question on a Toyota Facebook page or forum to see what people say.

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  3 роки тому

      You don't have to change the springs and torsion bar if you don't want to. You could just replace the shocks. Your height though would be at the lowest setting that the AHC offered. If you're cool with that, that would be fine. You could crank up the tension of the stock torsion bars and get a little lift in the front but you couldn't do anything in the rear unless you added some spacers. My buddy Ryan wanted some lift and that's why we replaced the torsion bars and springs with the heavier duty ones that came with the Iron Man lift kit.
