Hey guys great video. Thanks for the detailed breakdown of the steps. I did the replacement using the Ironman kit. The only difference is I got the heavy duty springs (just thought why not). Now my problem is I cannot reconnect the Panhard bar. I can’t get it to line up even to be able to use a pry bar. Any ideas or suggestions?
Hey just an update. It worked great. For anyone else who might need it, I jacked up the truck, connected one end of the hook to the suspension above the bolt head in a hole on the suspension on the passenger side. I then connected the next hook to the left of the driver side bolt in another hole on the suspension. After a few cranks it was almost lined up so I use my pry bar and a screw driver to get the bolt in on one side. After that I jiggled the pry bar while pushing the nut with my hands and it went through. I did not need to knock it at this point. Happy DIY-ing!

Great video and very informative! I'm the original owner of my 2001 LX470. It has over 256K and it starts every turn key. I feel that the truck bounces a bit! The AHC system seems to work just fine. At high speeds the suspension drops to eliminate wind drag and at low/normal driving it raises to its normal height like its twin the Land Cruiser. So, when I change the shocks do I also change the springs and torsion bars as well? That seems like a very expensive job...
Thank you for responding! To get you up to speed last week I did the AHC Deletion. I used the Strut Master conversion kit. Everything seems good and the family doesn’t notice a difference, but the VSC light and skid control light recently came on. I believe I should change all (4) Speed Wheel Sensors. My mechanic will try to skip 3 torsion teeth in hopes it can raise it an inch more to make it even with the rear. 🤞
Hi, thank you for your great video. My mechanic just install my 2” lift, I noticed something was not right because of how the car was handling over the speed bumps. I felt like there is no travel on my front shocks. After measuring from floor to the fender all 4 side reads at 41” I think the front is being so stretched out. So how many inches do you recommend for the front ?

thank you very good timmy video I would like to do it on mine landcruiser 1OO DIESEL 24 VALVE year 2001 AHC to disconnect the dashboard system c is the same procedure thank you
@Lancinator08 Ryan must have gotten the medium springd because he's got nothing aftermarket on his rig to add any weight to it. If you start adding aftermarket steel bumpers, winch, skid plates, roof rack or roof top tents, then you'd choose the springs appropriate for the weight you'll be carrying. You should also consider the weight you'll be carrying on trips.
Strurmaster kit does not require to replace torsion bars. I called them to double check and they confirmed that. Will see, kit is arriving tomorrow....

Thank you for your ideas.
I don't know what the largest tire size you can run. It sort of depends on what you're willing to do. By running spacers and doing a little trimming in the wheel wells, you can maximize the size you can run. I don't want to throw out a tire size to you and be wrong. Maybe ask this question on a Toyota Facebook page or forum to see what people say.
Well, it doesn't look much different than what you see at the end when we're discussing how to do the final adjustments to get the suspension equalized. So, sorry, that's all we got for you. We could have done one last walk around I guess but it's too late for that.
I'm sure it is. The question is, when the system starts to fail and require costly repairs, is it worth keeping? Depends on the person I guess. This video is just giving people the option to go back to a standard suspension system that's low maintenance to maintain.
@@XillOverdrive Toyota might still sell them. If not, you'll have to find one used. If you have wrecking yards near you like PicknPull, maybe they have an LX470 on the lot that you can see if the tool for the winch mechanism is still there and you can buy it.

You don't have to change the springs and torsion bar if you don't want to. You could just replace the shocks. Your height though would be at the lowest setting that the AHC offered. If you're cool with that, that would be fine. You could crank up the tension of the stock torsion bars and get a little lift in the front but you couldn't do anything in the rear unless you added some spacers. My buddy Ryan wanted some lift and that's why we replaced the torsion bars and springs with the heavier duty ones that came with the Iron Man lift kit.

You have to adjust the torsion bars to lift up the front. We cover this in the video.
@@TimmyTheToolman Thanks, I tried it, but I will keep tighten it.
@@tomtomjustsayit8514 Maybe you didn't get the arms in correctly to the joints.
I’m at Midwest and getting the torsion bars out was a night mare. I ended up taking it to a shop to get them cut but same issue front was finally able to be 1 inch lower than the front.
I don't have a recommendation for you. It sounds like your springs are too stiff for your liking.
Did you have to replace torsion bars? Is it recommended
The beefier torsion bars is what gives you the ability to lift the front end. I don't know how the kit would perform without them.
Hi.i did replaced all and diconect all 3 conection the end of job to turn of abs and other light unfortunately those light still on.what should I do.thank u for great video. Fred
Maybe try disconnecting the battery, letting it sit for a while and then reconnect it hoping it resets and wipes out the lights.
Thank you Timmy Great job
I have a question I replace the control arm,
and the passenger f side knee assembly is touching the tire any advice?
Spacers or different wheel offset. You replaced the upper control arms with the OEM or aftermarket? Did anything else change?
Thank you for replying
Timmy can I take a video tomorrow the mechanic let them explain to you?
Thank you! Super detailed! Great video
You're very welcome! Glad you like it.
Great video, ask you buddy to do more LX videos with you.
Glad you like the video Enrique. We will make more videos for these models. How many? I don't know. It's sort of dependent on who hits us up for help. If Ryan hits me up for more jobs, I'll take him up on them.
thank you Timmy excellent video !
You're very welcome. Thanks for the compliment.
I was wondering how's the ride feels compared to ahc ? Which is the most comfortable between ironman, ome and radflo ?
This is a question we can't answer because we haven't set up a LX470 with OME suspension or Radflo suspension. I can say I like my Radflo shocks on my 3rd Gen 4runner.
Great tutorial guys good work
The 111ft lb of the control arm, where would I find such figure before I start the job? Would my mechanic know to check it when he does it?
The torque values are listed in the Toyota factory service manual. You can access that information by buying a subscription to the Toyota Tech Info website. You do need a windows based computer though. The minimum system requirements are listed in a link at the bottom of the page. If I don't have the physical book for a vehicle, I buy a 2-day subscription for $20 and download the information I need for the job I'm doing.

Very thorough. Great video.

Great video. I just did the same job and this video was very helpful.
Thanks Paul. Great to hear out video helped you with the job.
I had the same thing done in my 2006 LX470 after a leaking issue from corrosion. It is higher now with the new suspension... With that Toyota Land Cruiser 100 Series AHC Delete, What is the biggest and best size tires to fit now? I am thinking about 275/75/18 tires now.😮
thank you very good timmy video I would like to do it on mine landcruiser 1OO DIESEL 24 VALVE year 2001 AHC to disconnect the dashboard system c is the same procedure thank you
Glad you like the video and good luck with the job.
Ironman gives spring options or medium, heavy, and extra heavy. Which were these? I’m sorry I missed you mentioning it.
Open the video description and click on the link we provide. Those are the springs we installed.
@@TimmyTheToolman that’s why I asked, sorry - the link gave 3 options for springs :/
@@TimmyTheToolman perfect thank you sir!
Is it possible that most of the improvement in lean and roll in curves is from the beefed up springs?
Yes, that makes sense.
Great video, Timmy. How long did this project take you?
It basically took us all day. Glad you like the video.
Strurmaster kit does not require to replace torsion bars. I called them to double check and they confirmed that. Will see, kit is arriving tomorrow....
Ok, good luck with the install.
I heard there are some models of LX470 which have 17mm nut instead of 22mm in hydraulic shock absorber units?
I don't know if thst is true. This is my one and only time doing suspension work on a LX470.
Are there openings on all of the tops of the struts for the ahc fluid to be pumped into the struts? I purchased struts from Rock Auto and the struts don’t have openings on the top. Those are the wron struts for the lx470?
Yes, there should be openings on the top.
I am looking to do same...install a rear metal bumper, tire , roof rack...should I get medium or heavy suspension...
Figure out the weight you're going to be carrying and then choose the springs that will support that weight and not be too stiff.
Hi, beside the suspension, any other parts I have to change,,,I change mine and I am getting a noise when accelerating
Great video, very detail. Thanks.
Thanks and you're very welcome. We're glad you like it.
I had the same thing done in my 2006 LX470 after a leaking issue from corrosion. It is higher now with the new suspension... With that Toyota Land Cruiser 100 Series AHC Delete, What is the biggest and best size tires to fit now? I am thinking about 275/70/18 to replace the 275/60/18. Any suggestion guys?? Thank you for your ideas.
I don't know what the largest tire size you can run. It sort of depends on what you're willing to do. By running spacers and doing a little trimming in the wheel wells, you can maximize the size you can run. I don't want to throw out a tire size to you and be wrong. Maybe ask this question on a Toyota Facebook page or forum to see what people say.
@@rhoodj OK, good luck and Happy Wrenching!
I did on my 2005 toyota sequoia I delete air bags and install older sequoia springs and new rear shocks and feels hard but no jumping all the time
Sounds like it was a worthwhile swap.
@@TimmyTheToolman yes sr my kids are more comfortable without jumping roads now I'm try to find ratling noise on the back like door lose a insulators
Any videos or photos of what it now looks like??
Well, it doesn't look much different than what you see at the end when we're discussing how to do the final adjustments to get the suspension equalized. So, sorry, that's all we got for you. We could have done one last walk around I guess but it's too late for that.
Does he now need a wheel alignment? Or is that only if you add lift?
Yes, you would need an alignment after this. Ryan got one. We mention this at the end of the video.
What strength did you get the springs?
@em3rge1 I don't remember. Choose the strength based on the weight you're carrying.
Very nice. And very useful. Thanks. Super like!
Thanks. Glad you found our video helpful.
What did you do to disable the AHC electronic system?
Everything we did is covered in the video. Disabling the electrical component part of the job is covered near the end of the video.
Thank you!

IS IT POSSIBLE TO CHANGE THE REINFORCED TORSION BY LEAVING LEAVING THE MOUNTING FROM HYDRO?
I'm not 100% sure what you're asking.
Thank you Timmy!
You're welcome Mike.
Amazing!! Thank you for the video...!!
You're welcome Mike. Glad you appreciate the video.
Thank you... very helpful
You're very welcome.
@@TimmyTheToolmanI have to take some times to disconnect those 3 connectors after the summer time. Thanks a lot
Ahc is great though, on and off road!
I'm sure it is. The question is, when the system starts to fail and require costly repairs, is it worth keeping? Depends on the person I guess. This video is just giving people the option to go back to a standard suspension system that's low maintenance to maintain.
As for the spare tyre removal, I lost my spare tire removal 'key'. Any suggestion as to where can I find one?
When you say key, are you talking about the tool thst let's you turn the winch to lower the spare tire to the ground?
Yes exactly that bit
@@XillOverdrive Toyota might still sell them. If not, you'll have to find one used. If you have wrecking yards near you like PicknPull, maybe they have an LX470 on the lot that you can see if the tool for the winch mechanism is still there and you can buy it.
Nice Ironman Products sweet @Timmy the toolman
Thanks Antonio. Ryan likes the Ironman 4x4 suspension.
@@TimmyTheToolman i just grabbed Ironman also for my 2000 4runner 600 pound constant load kit to go with my total chaos fab long travel kit comes with front and real all components
@@AntonioClaudioMichael Cool, good luck with the install and let us know what you think of it after you get some miles in.
@@TimmyTheToolman defenitly will do brother
why change rear springs and Torsion bars.....can i use the one are on the car
You don't have to change the springs and torsion bar if you don't want to. You could just replace the shocks. Your height though would be at the lowest setting that the AHC offered. If you're cool with that, that would be fine. You could crank up the tension of the stock torsion bars and get a little lift in the front but you couldn't do anything in the rear unless you added some spacers. My buddy Ryan wanted some lift and that's why we replaced the torsion bars and springs with the heavier duty ones that came with the Iron Man lift kit.
Hey, i did mine and getting a grating sound as if CV damage. This doesnt happen when turning but when start accelerating. Was this an issue? Did you use longer arms? did u install a Diff drop?
Was not an issue. Not longer arms and no diff drop.
Another question, no springs on front?
No springs. It's a torsion bar system on the front.
Nice video. Nice LEXUS!!
Thanks Chris.
Is the AHC system an older version of the KDSS system.
Not really. The KDSS system only affects the front and rear sway bars. The AHS system controls the stiffness of the shocks.
How is driving after removing the ahc?
My buddy Ryan said he like the ride. He said it was equivalent to the medium AHC setting.
@@TimmyTheToolman Thanks alot

Same thing here. Did you find a solution?

AWESOME video BTW Timmy. Please have more 100 series content.
Don’t understand why you have to replace the torso bars?
The heavier duty torsion bars are so you can lift the front end.
Good morning TIM hope all is well have you heard anything from the 2008 up until 2013 Land Cruiser’s having a issue with the airbag suspension it has apparently some kind of fluid hydraulic fluid and supposedly there’s a pipe that runs along the frame that rubs and gets a whole but I didn’t know if you had any insight on that
I have not heard of that issue but there is lots of fluid lines running along the frame rails for the AHC system.
Timmy where are you based? Do you accept customer jobs?

Thanks for the thumbs up.
smart thinking design don't fit cut it lol
It's great until it has issues, then it's not so great. That's why people choose to delete it, rather than try to troubleshoot and fix it.
