    Probably the most entertaining video you've ever made! You have taken "boys and their toys" to a whole new level and your facial expressions when you lit that thing up were priceless. Not for me, but fun to watch. Thanks for the belly laugh!

    "Arr-Arr...more power!" As Tim (another don't read the manual guy) pulls the trigger for full flame... burning down the studio set. Watching your video had me imagining that. Like yours, his face would be priceless too!

    The look on your face was the same look my husband got last Father's Day when our son gifted him with a similar "tool"! However that tool was designed to burn out stubborn weeds, when attached to a propane tank. No pesticides required, and it amazingly prevented weeds from returning for several months. Can't wait to show my hubby this video! 😊

    4th time watching this since it is so fun. Surprised that something didn't catch fire in the kitchen with that flamethrower. 😆
    Looking forward to the tenderloin hack (slightly frozen?) and the umami dust...

    The look on your face when you “applied some heat” AWESOME! Like the first time firing a gun and hitting the bullseye 😁 YEAH BABY!!
    How long per side do you use the SEARTEQ? Flame size matters?

    • @SeriousKeto
      @SeriousKeto  3 роки тому +4

      With the Searteq, I kinda have to "paint" with the flame, whereas with the Su-V, you can see that I can hit the entire steak (top and sides) with a properly aimed blast. I've never really timed myself with the Searteq, but I'd say it takes at least a minute per side, depending on the size of the steak and how much I need to hit perimeter.

    I've had one for a while and absolutely love it. My first expression was the same as yours, kid in a candy store with a golden ticket. I did same thing you did and used the grill as a place to sear the steak, i set the grill on fire. I now use a sheet pan and a heavy duty rack.

    Dude, you are so much braver than me! When I got my Su-V gun from the Kickstarter the first thing I did was go OUTSIDE to try it. Even then I thought someone was going to accuse me of having an illegal flame thrower. It sounds so angry when using it. I still only it outside just because that thing seems way too dangerous to use inside.

      @@SeriousKeto I smoke it for 2-3 hours then into the water bath for 44-48 hours @140°
      Smoking it first gives it a perfect smoke flavor and it definitely intensifies when in the bath. It comes out so moist and juicy. Then I give it a hard sear with the torch for that perfect bark. I do ribs that way also except I go 150° for 24 hours.

    Nice video Steve. I'm familiar with this unit but I think a better option is a flame thrower from harbor Freight for about 30 buck. I've been using one for years and it works flawlessly and I keep it hooked up to a 20 pound tank at all times. Maybe they make an adapter for the Su-V gun so you can use a 20 pound propane tank. On a side note. It's funny how many people say sous vide wrong including the su-V gun company. You pronounce it correctly but the most popular sous vide channel on UA-cam doesn't. It's sue veed. I'm probably the only one who notices this.

  • @jaquestraw1
    @jaquestraw1 3 роки тому +1

    Love my Su V Gun. I use regular propane, all you need really. Also cheap to refill your own 1 lb bottles with a 10 lb tank. Use it all the time for searing and igniting lump charcoal in my kamado. I rarely use the trigger, just the knob. As far as the check valve goes, just don't use the gun at too steep an angle and you won't have any issues. You'll get the hang of it quick. No propane taste either btw
