What area are you in? Watching in the frigid cold here! Haha. Looks like florida
@@scenicdepictionsofchicagolife Yep..Florida
Very helpful. I decided on going w/ the cheaper SearPro. Im very happy.
Glad I could help
Thank you so much for your tutorial I just got mine in the mail today, I was checking it up real quick do to I have to step out for a minute and I have the same problem lighting it up, I will check it later on when I’m more relax and give it a check up in lighting it up!! Thank you again
You are so welcome!
I bought the sear pro and it’s great. I can buy a $10 check valve if I want and I think the stand on the grill gun is more of a hassle than a missing check valve.
Thanks for watching Nick G! make sure you like this video, subscribe to the channel, and hit the "Bell" for notifications!
agreed
I agree, done the same and super ditto, video clearly seems one sided
I just bought the searpro last week, works fine, isn't hard to light. My only complaint is the handle is a 2 piece plastic clamshell that feels kinda cheap and creaks under stress. Kinda disappointing for the price, but im still keeping it for lack of better option.
The Grill gun and Su-V gun look bad ass, that's enough of a sell for me. The sear pro has the propane tank mounted too close to the flame!
Thanks for the comment Godonlyknows 84! your thoughts are appreciated...
the grill gun aesthetics seem like a strong case of form over function.
just learned about grill blazer today, already know i need it.
Thanks for the comment Rogue Valkyrie! your thoughts are appreciated...
Thanks for the video. I like that the SearPro doesn’t need that large stand to stay up right. While I can see the advantage of the check valve in theory, the check valve doesn’t appear to be needed since the liquid fuel is consumed by the flame, so it’s nice to not have to remove the tank if you do happen to tilt it too far. My only concern with the SearPro is that it appears to be more difficult to light, which would be annoying.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the feedback. It's actually very easy to light when all the instructions are read before hand. Also, if you slightly elevate the torch it lights much faster.
@@searpro1433 thanks for the tip and reassurance. I’m looking forward to getting mine from the early Kickstarter!
@@dsmith1543 thank you so much for your support. We know you'll love it as much as we do!
@@searpro1433 the ignitor was sparking but it was very sensitive on when it would light with the gas flow. it seemed like if the gas was flowing too fast for the smaller spark and it would not light. I found the you have to just crack it a tiny bit to get it to light. this may be able to be corrected by adjusting where the ignitor is located but i don''t know. but I did notice that the ignitor was smaller than those in the other 2 also. My review was very honest and I pointed out both the pro's and con's of all the products.
Sear Pro all the way. At equal cost I might (but might not) choose the Su-V, but at less than 40% cost, a no brainer. Safety is my responsibility, I am careful. A Dad should not let such a tool into the hands of someone who should not be using it, that is a nonsense issue. A simple choice for me.
ok
For the SU-V gun's indoor use, what would be a great, specific item to use to place the protein on in one's kitchen while torching a single steak or burger patty after cooking such via sous vide separately? Keeping in mind we're dealing with 3,600 to 3730 degree temperature here. Again, referring to indoor use (which is approved by the manufacturer/designer if turning down the flame partially).
a sheet pan on top of a cutting
board is just fine...
I only wish you would have demonstrated having the propane tank that is like 20 lb and showing us how to hook up with the longer gun I'm not clear on the differences between the smaller one that is from the trailblazer I think it is called or grill Blazer I hope that it will last a great deal longer if I'm cooking for a large group of people how long do those little tanks last if you are cooking all day?
it is not hard to hook up the 20lb tank.. they work the same
@6:22 I was like not safe at all. Glad it didn’t light in your face
the gas was off completely... was just looking to see if it was sparking.... thanks for the concern...
can the SearPro attach to larger tank via hose ?
yes, this will work - amzn.to/3ARRH4D
@@FireWaterCooking awesome !!
I just happened to come access. Not much of a BBQer. But do some SuV. The SearPro can only shoot for one or two minutes at a time and not able to connect large propane tank. The Grill Gun does accept large tank.
Thanks for the comment Rick Zabala! your thoughts are appreciated...
Do you know if the Su-V gun can use MAPP gas or do you have to buy the little propane tank? MAPP burns much hotter and doesn't leave a propane taste so I've heard that it's a lot better for searing.
Well, I'm going to answer my own question. The website doesn't mention it anywhere, but in the manual it says, "You can connect any propane or MAPP bottles with the standard
CGA600 male screw thread directly to your Su‐VGun." So, it'll work with MAPP gas. :)
glad you got it!
How's the SearPro working out now? Still happy?
it works...
any video with a hose connected?
no
Did the check valve not actually work on the Su-VGun?!?!?
it works just fine...
Can i attach hose adaptor for 20lbs propane on sear pro?
I dont know, ask the Searpro people... I just did a review
I have the gun one, stupid I know, but holy shit it shoots a massive flame out. Good for cleaning the smoker.
I have both the GrillGun and the Su-vGun.. love them both
Where can I buy the grillgun
you can find the grillgun and su-vgun at www.grillblazer.com
Can you tell me which one taste the best for searing a steak? Thanks
the torch does not add or take away any flavor.. they tase the same..
Why are you tasting the torch before searing?
How does the build quality differ between the su-vgun and the sear-pro?
The Su-Vgun is better built in my opinion with more safety features built in..
Is there a cleaner fuel source to go with these torch?
you can use either propane or map gas... both are the same cleanliness as far as I know... neither will produce any bad flavors..
Thermite would burh pretty cleanly for you just make sure your grill is protected.
Oh it’s not lighting…
Then proceeds point it at his face and looks down the barrel
well, it is not a gun. I was looking to see if the igniter was out of place. LOL
😂😂
Thanks for this comparison -- exactly what I needed as I am buying one or the other tonight!
Glad it was helpful!
@@FireWaterCooking After watching though, I became undecided.
On one hand, I like that the SearPro will stand up on its own NOT requiring a stand (more utilitarian than it needs to be) - plus it's $60/cheaper. Simple (non-utilitarian) and inexpensive are highly important to me.
On the other hand, that check-valve safety feature of the Su-Vgun keeps it from spitting molten-fireballs out if you tilt it sideways or upside down - which I think is really important too.
At this moment, I'm holding-out to see which company puts out a "NEXT" version first that resolves one or more of my concerns listed above...
@@hungrywizard the good thing is the Su-Vgun is available now, the SearPro is a kickstarter that you will have to wait many months for.. I know they say March on the SearPro, but I have never seen a Kickstarter deliver on time.. even the GrillGun was 2-3 months delayed..
@@FireWaterCooking Interestingly enough, their website says they are currently shipping, but are backlogged somewhere under 30 days though, before they can fulfill new orders.
Currently, I use a weed torch, similar to this:
www.amazon.com/Bravex-Propane-Igniter-Outdoor-Roofing/dp/B08C2NWGNC/ref=sr_1_14_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=propane+torch&qid=1606322483&s=home-garden&sr=1-14-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFZT0paWTdKQ1IwNzUmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA4MzA2NDkxMVZFSzlGMkU4VVgmZW5jcnlwdGVkQWRJZD1BMDcyOTAxNUhDVEpJNU5KTkI4NCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX210ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
I just want the portability of a smaller device when I go camping next, but that won't be until next warm season -- so, that gives either company time to read these comments and earn my business by evolving their respective products &/or pricing forward! :-) Thanks again for this great video!
Just received my SearPro from the Kickstarter. Nearly 4 months before the estimated ship timeframe.
Love my SuV gun!
yes, they are great!
how long does a tank last with these guns?
@@Johndor007 it all depends how often you use it.. the tanks only cost like $3... you can get at least 20-30 uses from one
@@FireWaterCooking Thanks, I had not seen this yet, just getting going on
this sv journey
Don't watch this with headphones on!!!
LOL!
This video dosent have to be 16 mins long
