Man ive been watching this video for years. Every time i get a new knife i forgot how to tie the knot. Thanks for this great lanyard idea. Ive also done it with 550 cord if anybody wants some color.
No need to apologize for the length of the video, man! This is one knot that is easy to tie, but difficult to perfect. The extra detail you showed us helps a lot. It would have taken me awhile to figure this out on my own. Next time I'm in walmart, I'll be buying some leather laces!
This helped me a bunch. My first knot was sloppy. I took it apart and tied it a second time. It took more time for straightening the flat wraps around each loop but looks much better. Thanks a lot.
A knife lanyard should be able to go completely around your hand over the front end of the handle, back over your hand to the back of the handle, sort of like a hand guard on a sword, this helps keep the knife from completely slipping out of your hand
I watched this video numerous times. I mean I know by heart how to make the hangman’s lanyard, I just like looking at different knives. I have a number of these lanyards on various knives I have I like them as I’ve grown used to using them for quicker retrieval. Appreciate the video, fyi each one I’ve made I rub hand lotion all over them for the first few days. Makes them super flexible/limber and my hands too have vast cuts on them.
great video- been using a leatherish shoelace to practice for my higonokami which is in the mail. I managed to do this knot first try thanks to clear instructions so thank you.
Looking for inspiration for a leather lanyard for my new fixed blade and found your video. I added a distressed copper bead and worked the lace with glove oil for a few weeks before tying to exopodite the break in. I'm very happy with the results. Thank you
Great video after watching a couple times I tied a perfect lanyard the first time. I love these lanyards really nice and looks great on pretty much any knife.
Awesome vid man - really appreciate you taking the time to put this together for us here. I purchased a Buck 113 and plan on making a leather lanyard for it. This was definitely a big help.
I really like the look of the worn boot lace leather. Not sure why you'd need it for a knife, with a pocket clip, but looks great on your slip joint. Then again, to each their own.
Just wanted to say thanks for the vid, I have it bookmarked and view it about every two months when I do a batch of cheese boards, the knot looks great on my black walnut boards.
Great video man I just added the lanyard to my dads ZT 0450cf Christmas gift I'm getting him this years Great finishing touch and I hade to add it to my ZT 0562cf Great job man well appreciated
Very nice! I remember the previous video you did on this from years ago and I did it on a few knives back then and they still are on there and good. I even used a little Obenauf's on it to keep it supple and from drying out over time
I find stretching the leather and rubbing in some boot polish with a cloth, makes the break-in quicker and the cord more pliable and easier to work with. Particularly if you want to tie knots like lanyard knots.
Thanks for the vid, i went and ordered 1 pair of dark brown and 1 pair of "gold and brown" after watching. Also, that sebenza is amazing, need to dig through your vids and find that one now :D
OLD LEATHER SMITH here, nice video great explanation, Suggestion, you can buy latigo by the spool usually 50 feet it's more reasonable in either 1/8 or 1/4 inch wide, at Craft Supply stores, Tandy or Weaver leather, GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
I just can't get behind making anymore paracord lanyards for my Knives anymore.. Leather just looks so much more...classy? Especially on my CRKs and hinderers.
When you first get the leather I would treat it with a good leather conditioner first. This will soften the leather right away, and make it easier to work with. It will also slightly darken the leather as well as protect it from cracking.
hi, i just started using the leather lanyards,as i was using just para cord because of the colors they offer, i said to myself'" why not go back to the basic's! buy the way the HD is amazing, thanks.
Great video, does anyone have a source for thicker leather? I'd like to make one for my keys but am a little concerned shoelace might wear too quickly.
Hey man awesome vid! This is my first comment on any video and particularly because you did an awesome job. I just put one of these lanyards on my Canadian belt knife and it looks superb. Not quite as nice as yours but I got it done in the first try. Thanks a lot bro! Keep up the good work!

Thanks... very nice addition to my axe!
One and done, great tutorial I was able to make it the right way the first time through.
Same. I have done 4 knives like this from this video. I never need to tighten mine tho, as I don't need a big loop to grab from at the bottom.
Thanks heaps for the video! That knot just added an extra character to my knife that I simply adore
6 years later but still useful 👌 thanks
Nice thank you for showing us
Great video after watching a couple times I tied a perfect lanyard the first time. I love these lanyards really nice and looks great on pretty much any knife.

love the CRKs!!!
Sweet lanyard i would probly tie a knot in the slack line of the noose so It would be impossible to pull loose
I just can't get behind making anymore paracord lanyards for my Knives anymore.. Leather just looks so much more...classy? Especially on my CRKs and hinderers.

I'm using some 3/16 deerskin lace. Flatter than what you're using, but worked perfectly, first try. Looks nice. Thanks.
+Keith Peters where can i find deerskin laces??? sounds like a great idea bro!!
