      Can you believe it, after so many years I have just dicovered that people have been writing to me. Duh!! No wheelwriting or making wooden wheel is not an Urban legend, it still goes on today, but not the same extent as in the past! Mike, Lost Arts Work Shop

    My great-grand pappy was a wagon master. That's right. He done walked in three feet of snow just to get to school. He owned two hammers. One for the right hand, and one for the left hand. He plowed over 50,000 acres with just one mule. Of course, he was labeled the biggest bull shitter in town.

      Dear Paddy, so long in writing a reply, five years and you probably don't remember writing to the Lost Arts Work Shop anymore! Can you believe it, I only visited the video site from time to time but never scrolled down, so I never knew that people were writing to me. Well there's the boy out in the pasture just looking out for the sheep. Well I am writing now to say thanks for your nice comment. Mike, Lost Arts Work Shop

    Bonjour, si vous voulez diminuer le temps de production, les frais et les joints nombreux, je vous suggère d'utiliser des demi cercles en bois plié (cintré). Les roues seraient aussi plus forte vue le grain du bois en continu. Find me on You Tube, my company is Les Pliages Maskinongé Inc in Louiseville Canada.

    how did you make the hub

    • @mikehartigan3133
      @mikehartigan3133 5 років тому

      Hello, when we posted the video I didn't understand that people would write to me about it. I have just discovered that, so after so much time I write a reply. I did not make the hub, it was an old single derelict "Sarven" hub which we used for Vincent to create his first wheel on his own. Vincent had been in the shop for about two months at the time, wanting to know how to make wheels before he returned to France. That's why you see me mostly flitting around in the background during the video, only coming over when he had questions, or out of the corner of my eye thought he need to ask one. In the end he made a great wheel. This does not answer your question about making hubs, if you are still interested, write to me again, and I will try to answer your questions. Mike, Lost Arts Work Shop

    This is more wheel "assembling" than making. How about showing us the parts depicting the making of the spokes and the other individual pieces making up the wheel?

    • @mikehartigan3133
      @mikehartigan3133 5 років тому

      Dear Tom, my reply is five years late, and you probably don't remember writing your comment to the "wagon wheel making video" on utube bynow now! Your point is taken, but the video shows my assistant of that time making his first wheel at that time. Other than the hub which was an old one, all the parts were new and purchased. While we do make many of our own spokes and felloe parts at the Lost Arts work shop, we didn't on this occasion. The intent of the video was to record Vincent making his first wheel almost by himself. We posted it to utube on a whim. Mike, Lost Arts work Shop

    Wouldn't be easier and faster to assemble by using two half bent rims instead of six cut parts? If they need, my company is specialised in solid hardwood bending in Canada. S.V.P. regarder notre site Web lpminc.ca. Merci!
