Many thanks for this wonderful explanation! I just bought a Suaoki G7 and could not understand why I could not start my car with it. This movie explains exactly the reason why; after seeing it, I immediately succeeded. In particular, I would never have guessed the existence of the 30 s. timer! I have never seen a poorer user manual than the oneprovided with the G7. It contains practically no decent explanation. Even if the device is relatively simple, I wonder if anyone can use it with such a poor quality of the manual.
thanks Graham that video was so helpful. I thought I'd damaged my unit somehow, even though I'd followed the instructions. knowing about the 30 second time out makes all the difference
Thanks for this - yea - I got the short circuit error and proceeded no further. So now off to try your way of doing it! I'm sure this confuses a lot of people and the manual needs changing. Again thanks for your time and effort to post this.
A lot of people are reporting the red and green lights stay flashing, I had this with my car. The problem wasn't the battery being low, but a loose terminal, so not enough amps getting to starter. I was short on time, so didn't tighten the terminal, just used the jump starter. I suspect that although the terminal was loose, it still provided a voltage for the smart connector to read. On cranking the car, the voltage would have dropped like a stone, activating the smart plug, and let me start the car. Being inside the car at that time prevented me seeing if the light went to green!
I had the problem of an error light if I followed the written instructions. Following these updated instructions gave the alternating green/red as seen on the video. However, connecting to the battery left the green/red still alternating, and I never managed to get the green light. It took me months but I finally found the solution, which seemed totally counter-intuitive. Apparently, the battery voltage needs to be lower than the G7 voltage for it to work. The advice was to turn on the headlights to reduce the voltage. So I turned the ignition key on, and then turned on the headlights. Round to the front of the car, and the headlights were glowing very, very dimly, barely visible. Now I connected the G7 to the battery and it immediately went green and the headlights lit up to full power. Back inside the car, turned off the headlights, hit the starter, and it instantly fired up.
That's what you're supposed to do anytime you hook up something to a live battery to prevent a spark when it's connected. Always red (power) first and then black (ground) second.
Mine started to blink red "err" light no matter what you do. I recharged the unit, no help. The clever clamp system does not work or the units cells are bad?
My question is, how much percentage would the G7 go on before it wont be able to jump start the battery? Such as, Will it be too weak to start the car at 60% or will it still start it? Will it ONLY jump start the car at 100%? I cant seem to find that out any where :( I received my G7 yestarday however I do not feel as if I should rely too much on it? I may use it too charge a phone and the percentage goes down really quickly on it and then I may need to jump start a car and realise it is too weak to jump start it, that would be a fail lol
+Hussnain H The web site is now saying "make sure G7 battery indicator shows over 30%" before starting the car. The instruction manual warns to charge it up every 3 months. I guess I will see how it works in practice.
Thanks for making this video. Mine keeps flashing red/green even after I connect the clamps to the battery. I wonder what this means. (My car's battery is at 12.6V and healthy.) Edit: I measure 12.4V at the clamps even with the flashing red/green lights, so I'm going to assume that the green light only comes on when there is current flowing from the Suaoki G7 into the car battery, and that my lights keep flashing because my car battery is charged more. I'm also going to assume that the "smart clamp" circuit won't do anything silly like break the circuit and prevent it from starting my car. :)
I have got this same problem now.. Did you manage to fix it?? My battery is good and healthy fully working.. I bought a new jump starter cable as my old one became faulty/loose wiring so I wanted to try the G7 out to see if it works ... The battery is charged full so maybe thats why the G7 light doesn't go green and provide power to start up? Does the battery have to be drained or below a certain amount to work? Thank you!
Oh haha, i shall try the same.. does the battery i want to jump start have to be down to a certain voltage before the g7 jump starts it or shud it still work with a battery at 100%?? Also, how is ur G7 going?? Still working like it should?? Thank you!
+Mel B I don't think it makes any difference. The "engine start" connector goes directly to the G7's battery as far as I can tell. The on/off switch is just for the display and phone/laptop charging circuits.
I got this unit myself. Very dodgy company. How can they not know how to operate their device in a 3-step procedure? In the printed manual, it says connect to car battery first - but if you go to Amazon now and check their how-to guide (one of the product images is the guide), it says connect to G7 unit first... wtf? My car battery is new, so there is no meaningful way I could try this myself right now... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B014QXOJA8/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1452588669&sr=1&keywords=suaoki+g7

That's the cleanest engine I have ever seen
Fantastic update, the camera quality is phenomenal, i doubt i would ever buy one of these and stick to my Costco jump pack i bought 5 years ago.

thanks for the comment, glad the instruction helped

what happens when the green and red lights dont stop flashing, even when you put it on the battery?
Same here
Resolved my issue thank you.
I thought the red clamp goes on first and then the black clamp and then the black clamp disconnects first and the red clamp last.
That's what you're supposed to do anytime you hook up something to a live battery to prevent a spark when it's connected. Always red (power) first and then black (ground) second.
I think the 30 second timer on the smart clamp prevents that being an issue
Any thoughts about the G7 cable not resetting? It just keeps flashing Red / green

+Hussnain H I fixed it by charging the battery pack overnight. Even though the LCD said 99%, I don't think it was fully charged.

hi... my red light and green light are always ON...no flash no beep ! can not start a car !!! whats the problem ????
A guess would be a loose connection on the starter motor
Graham, do you switch on the unit before attaching the clamps to the battery terminals?

what is your wristwatch? :)
Its the Casio Edifice chronometer
