Great video as I have been a resident of Las Vegas for over 12 years now :)- Unfortunately Californians are ruining Nevada like every other state as they flee the Golden state for a cheaper cost of living only to jack-up the prices of their new home such as Arizona, Nevada, Denver and Texas. I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 35 years but when I left California for Nevada I had absolutely NO desire what so ever to bring all of the garbage from California. SORRY to anyone who is moving to Vegas for cheaper lifestyle but you missed the boat if you did not move here before or during the pandemic :(-

I left beautiful Calabasas (L.A.) for Las Vegas because of constant wildfire threats, and high taxes. I’ve been in Las Vegas for 2 years now in a gorgeous, large home, beautiful pool, in a guard-gated, private, quiet community. I love my house and community, and I love the fun of the Strip (excellent restaurants, shopping). I was able to retire at 50 when I moved to Las Vegas. …..Now the downside. Other than the Art’s district’s selection of great brewpubs, and restaurants, and a good cafe at Tivoli Village, and a few wonderful independent restaurants I’ve found in random strip malls around the valley, there is NO CHARM in the Las Vegas valley. Endless strip malls, with chain, after, chain, after chain. Yes, there’s every chain you could want, but no character, or charm……anywhere. I knew this before moving, but now living here I really miss the mom and pop stores, bakeries, cafes, shops, etc. Locals told me to go to Henderson, and Summerlin…..I did, to find more chains, strip malls. (albeit a bit nicer chain stores). No walking streets, no charming blocks, no historical buildings, just more chains. Downtown has historical buildings, but the homeless, filth, and garbage keep me away. I knew this all before moving here, but didn’t think it would affect me this much. …..I’ll move back to California when I’m around 70, for my final home, most likely to the Monterey/ Carmel areas. I’ll finally get the CHARM, and CHARACTER I’m missing, and I know I’ll pay big $$$ for it!!!

My son is the one considering moving there--but concerned about one big issue: He'll be working remotely from Nevada but his company is in California. Will he have to pay state income taxes for California? All the videos I've watched seem to indicate that Nevada has no state income taxes--I think this is something that should be clarified either way so that prospective buyers know.
Thanks for a great video! 😀

Hi John. That's a great question. I think it will depend on where he is paid. Is his company solely based in California? Let me do a little research and see if I can get an answer for you and I will comment again. Or feel free to shoot me an email at info@findinghomelasvegas.com so I can follow up with you with an answer. Thanks for the question.

Hi again John. Here is what my research found. I am not a tax expert so please consult with a tax professional or advisor for specific advice regarding your situation. But what I am finding says if you work remotely for a company based out of California and live in Nevada, you will not need to file a CA nonresident state income tax return related to this income. This is because your state tax obligations are determined by where you live and work, not by the location of your employer. I do believe he will have to establish residency in Nevada though. To establish residency he will need to have a Nevada address, register his vehicle in Nevada, get a Nevada driver's license and register to vote in Nevada. I hope that helps. Once he is ready to make his move, have him reach out to us. My team and I are happy to help him make a smooth move to Las Vegas.

@@FindingHOMELasVegas Thanks so much for such a quick response! I'll pass this information on to him along with information about your company. He's been working remotely for some years from Germany but now he and his young family want to return to the U.S., probably within a year. Again, thanks for your input--I really appreciate it! 😀

@@FindingHOMELasVegas Thanks again for your response! Of course he'll have to establish residence there (find a place, get his drivers license, etc.) and I assume you have to actually be there for a certain amount of time, too. If it turns out that once he's accomplished all that, he'd be able to avoid California state income tax...His company is only in California but he'll be working remotely from Nevada (IT-related). He's already working for them from his condo in Ulm, Germany. I'll encourage him to get in touch with you once he has a better idea of when he'll actually make the move. Thanks again! 😀...

If you are more concern about deductions on each paycheck, it depends if the company has an operation center in Vegas, if they don't and the employee is assigned to a California operation center employee will be paid California salary and taxes on salary, if they have Vegas operation center then the employee is assigned to that operation center then paycheck deduction is based on Vegas, however if an employee is assigned to Vegas operation center I don't believe company will pay them California salary, but it could happen for some very kind companies :)
