Just bought the Roland online about an hour ago, before seeing this video and I'm so glad I did! Thanks for the video!
I vote for getting Dan a chair with wheels. :)
Paul Peterson samee
I've subscribed. I love that the videos are fun and not just dry data. Looking forward to watching more.
Man I LOVE y'all's digital piano videos!!!!! Keep it up!!!!!!!!
Awesome video guys...helped me loads to make up my mind!
I love this type of video. Blindfolded trials are great.
I love these head to head sessions! Thanks!
I love his playing style so much
Right around 8:24 Daniel comments on having to dig in more to get a response from the keys. Not sure if this would make a difference, but something that doesn't get mentioned much is that the Privia has settings to change the weight of the keys from heavier to lighter depending on players preference. Not sure if the other keyboards have the same settings but the presets will definitely make a difference in the action from one to another.
Thanks Harrison for this video! It helped me a lot. Regards from Brazil!
He’s done it!.. left the center of the piano... I’ve seen it! Love you guys, keep up the good work!
I love this concept!!!!! Unbiased and objective opinions are always the way to go!
Unbiased? Did you not notice the company Logo on the wall? This was like the shopping channel.
They sell all of them
yamaha is easy to spot even blind folded, slippery keys, brightest piano sound always.
casio is easy to spot with it super textured keys
... that leaves roland...
so even blind folded you can tell 2 out of the three.
.. the other would be either roland or korg.
Where can we hear more of Dan's piano playing?? Loved the style
Thanks for focusing on these electric pianos lately, as I'm in the market for one. :)
Great video I love this review thanks 👍🏼
I'm not even considering buying a keyboard, but I watch all of the videos because of his playing (and Jack's craziness). What's the style of what he plays? Jazzy Gospelly Blues kindof?
love your video guys it stand out from others !! it makes my decision unlike others
OMGGG I LOVED IT!!!! BEST BLIND COMPARISON!!!
I played all three and loved the Roland. Best feel and best response to light touches. I think it sounded the best as well although sounds were hard to chooses which was best.
On youtube i prefer Roland. With headphones on, I also prefer Roland. But for some reason the yamaha sounded better on its own speakers in the store.
Congratulations on going over 20k subscribers. I still hope to see Bingerz behind some big budget synths with those magic fingers
Good humour, good questions, beautiful playing, love the video and concept of comparing. I'm a musician who sings/plays acoustic and want to get into keyboards I can gig on and this was helpful, before I have even finished the video haha. Thanks guys!
Good video. I have been leaning toward the fp 30, so thanks for making the decision easier for me.
Thanks! This will hugely help me with my first piano ☺️
Same😊
This man's playing is so nice
I've been going back-and-forth between the Yamaha and the Roland. In spite of what another critic had said, I may go with the Roland. I want to dig into learning piano, though I've had limited exposure, before.
this is a very unique concept,so glad to find my fellow blindfolded pianists, hope to meet you someday,so far I could play Minute Waltz by Chopin,Czardas by Vittorio Monti and Alla Turca by Mozart blindfolded.
I have a pxs-3000...set the key press to ‘Light 2’. Fixes everything.
FP30 has 3 great Grand Piano samples' sets with touch gradation. But I wouldn't say that Sample #1 is better than Yamaha's main sample. I personally use #2 - it is brighter and sharper in my opinion.
Keep doing these
Would be interesting to see the shootout again with the upgraded Casio 1100
The Yamaha sounds bright, and they always do, they're great keyboards, but I grew up playing classical on an acoustic, and there's something about the action and the sound and the dynamic live action of the Roland combined that gave it that ever-so-slight edge over the Yamaha. Can't go wrong with any of these 3 for sure, just depends on what you want and your budget.
I love blindfold challenge !! Do some synths next time maybe using midi controller ?
I originally bought the P--125 for my Grandson, but he quit lessons. I use it for a 20 piece big band I play with. I love the action and the weight, I can literally carry it under one arm. One thing to note though, which most people don't think about, at higher volumes it starts to distort and get a bit shrill, and clunky/percussive sounding. I use a QSC 12.2, so top of the line amplification. I don't use a pre-amp, maybe I should, but I have to turn the speakers almost all the way up in order to keep the piano volume down as much as possible.
O
Could you do a budget synth vs. like the minilogue, deepmind, etc
Great video chaps.
Would still like to have seen if the inbuilt reverb been turned back on would have made any difference.
Interesting he picked up on the yamaha being bright as yamaha acoustic pianos are voiced on the brighter side.
Literally bought a piano off these guys today and now this pops up...
Please review using the internal speakers! Many of us want to know what they’ll sound like with just the internals!
@2:42 It's amazing how he could spot it, while on my untrained ear I couldn't hear anything funny
I get that these videos aren’t really about the pianist, but God Damnit I LOVE Bingers playing. He has a voice all his own on the piano. I’ve searched (unsuccessfully) for hours and hours trying to find other piano music that evokes the same feeling in me that his playing does. I want an hour of nothing but Bings on a piano. So good.
I'd be interested to know his influences and how he phrases
Its just pop with indie soul and jazz influences guys, chill out
Gospel piano
Lovely!!
Problems with space - well-known for those who lived in UK. 😅
Anyway, great video! 👍 I feel the same slight leaning to the FP-30.
More like this please
Sweet stuff. Thanks gents
Blind test - instant like.
Just few suggestion - add some after test opinions about it: final tought about what keyboard feels best, or its the same? What internal speaker sound best? You now, most people use this keyboard with interhal speakers, not external monitors. And last and not so important - what about functionality? Maybe one of this guys can something really good (like many more patches, two layers, auto-arranger etc etc) - just few words about its will be great because if its important its not hard found detail info in internet.
Great review format. Much better than basic run throughs. Kudos to Dan for some nice blindfold playing👍
Hello guyz ! Please... under the fingers, which keybed has the best feeling? the best rebound to play fast?
Epic - and so are the piano stools. Do you know how a person could procure such a stool? only I have checked your site and I can't find one like these listed ? any help appreciated...
Whoaa, love the sounds, for me Yamaha P-125 is the best, I love the brightness
I love these videos. Fun and informative, but I always wonder why no Kawai, a piano action and sample that I love a lot.
So glad I bought the Roland.
I brought an FP-30 a couple of months ago. Amazing piano for the money. The individual weighted keys and the texture was one of the reasons for my decision. I would recommend the stand with it too if you have the room.
Got mine for a few years and it really is awesome!
Shouldve bought the p125
TheMagicGuy
Why I’m between Yamaha p 125 and the Roland fp 30 could someone please help me
@@lisam.5249 Hey what did you end up with? I'm in the same boat.
sharie
I bought the Yamaha arius ydp 144
It’s great !!
Definitely worth the money.
Yamaha P125, the only way to go!
12:16 falcon’s scream! 🤣
Do a video on the VPC1, I use that with pianoteq. It's awesome.
Just yesterday bought the Roland and today watched this video. I feel kind of relieved he chose that one because the Yamaha was in my top list too. But it's true both are quite impressive for the price tag. Nice video and amaizing spot of that untuned key of the Casio!
Can you include Crumar and Dexibell in the higher end assessments? TY.
Who is this Daniel!!!? Teach us how you do that mate!
My same findings after visiting a local shop to decide on a piano. Casio stuff is pretty good, Yamaha is standard middle of the road and the Roland is just that 5-10% better , mainly due to the action.
I've not had the chance to try them in person but I agree with your rendition. To me though Roland wins in sounds too, especially in the piano department. It's steady from high to low and it does provide that quasi metallic taste that a few Steinways, especially the newer models have.
Yamaha doesn't quite sound like a CF S III, -they sampled P 125 from it). Plus there's a certain sharpness to its tone that makes it a little bit unpleasant, for my eaars at least. Then, when you play chromatically in the low end you can really hear its inability to sound like the real thing. I do know that there are few digital pianos that replicate an acoustic well even in the high end (god bless Nord), but overall in this price range Roland does slightly better.
All the best! .
Hey Jack and Dan. I'm really enjoying these videos and learning a lot, but there's so much stuff available used these days, especially lots of 10 to 15 year old pianos. How about a blindfold challenge with a mix of old and new equipment? I'd be curious to know how much the tech / sounds / feel have come along and whether it's worth buying a new model, over something maybe higher end from a few years back. good idea ey?! I know! ;-) Love, Tom
i like how when ever Jack refers the audience his voice changes to angry mob tone.
For the keyboards that you can’t disable the speakers... just use a quarter inch jack adapter in the headphone out.
Please could you tell me the piece your playing??? Thanks!!
what yall think about the Korg Lp380
does anybody know what song/tune/melody/sample he is playing? I love it and see some other people have commented on how beautiful what he is playing itself is but no answers yet... pleeeeeaaaaseeee
Tracy Valcarcel I really want to know too
It's called "Strings From a Kite In a Thunderstorm" from the album "Discovery" by "Lergoidern Shtipplits"
@@bjornegan6421 ? that doesn't give me any search result
Bjorn Egan LMFAO
It's just improvisation
Great video yet again Jack. I don't think people could go wrong with any of these three keyboards. A lot will come down to personal preference. I think the Casio PX-S1000 sounds the best of the three when going through its internal speakers especially with the hall simulator and surround sound on. It sounds like you are sitting at a real acoustic piano plus I really like the modern slick interface. Love the Yamaha CFIIIS 9' concert grand piano sample in the P-125 and it has a great feature set but I do wish they would modernise the design. Not played the Roland but sounded good to me. Yeah, all round a great selection of digital pianos there.
I dont even play piano, but still I love these videos!
Nice, was thinking of getting a digital piano, the roland was the only one to make me feel something, very very nice sounding samples, weirdly did not like the shouty character of the Yamaha...
Choice of piano depends a lot on the touch and how it feels to play. Some feel too light and others too heavy. I have a Kawai MP6. Bear in mind that only two firms that make DP's also make acoustic ones - Yamaha and Kawai
Ewen Flint That’s irrelevant! Casio’s older keyboards prior to the PX-S1000 have some of the best action and feel on the market, if you’re used to pianos created before 1980, and they don’t make an acoustic piano.
Also, Roland has done some serious work on completely generating the piano sounds from scratch... They’ve done a very good job at this.
NP12 to see how it stacks against hammer action
Hehe, I've already decided one weak ago, now found this video... happy to see I made the right choice :) But the P125 is amazing too.
Logiarhythm done the exact same thing hahah
Very nice piano playing! MIght sell a Les Paul to get one of these pianos! (Can't play them though)
If you're looking to learn piano it might be worth checking out our video of Jack teaching guitarist's how to play piano!

Beginner here. What should I listen to to learn this style of playing? Tutorials, songs, etc. Thanks so much!
You can try going in an elevator. Same type of music at my parking place.
@@hennessy3993 :)
Listen to jazz. Learn a lot of music theory.
Back in the 90s if you wanted a good action on a digital you would pay something near a 2nd hand upright. 2 to 4 k. A crappy arranger or a entry grade synth would be around 800 usd. Keybeds have never been so cheap and have so good feel on them. I really like the casios sinking kbed feel, but I can't stand the sub par quality of the samples. Imho the best of breed is the yamahas with such a great kbed and sample of the piano.
Nice review but I choose Yamaha P 125. Many other reviews go for it compared to Roland FP30 ,Kawai 1100
I actually like the 73 key version
So much positiv Energy i cant handle it 🤣🤪👍🏽
Playing at 1:47, 3:20 (Casio), 4:42 (Yamaha), 6:44, 9:28 (Roland)
Made a compilation: ua-cam.com/video/nQ-t4YZG5NY/v-deo.html
Tho that's only half of it
In my experience, i try not to base my opinion off of namebrand only because, when choosing a piano, it really comes down too the feel, touch and sound of it. Roland really did a phenomenal job for this low price point. Obviously as well, the piano is only as good as the player so amazing playing by our boy. Yamaha was too bright, i did love the low end of the Yamaha! Casio didn’t really sound bad, i can understand why the feel is off from it however, most of the privia series seem to have that same problem. Anyway, lovely video! Much love! 🙏
Is there a comparison video for digital piano's with a built in stand and pedals?
You need to do cheap vs expensive and reveal prices at the end. PRRRRIIICE REVEALLL
Can you also do a blind fold challenge including KAWAI line up, ES110, ES520, ES920, MP7se, MP11se?
Wheeled seat
Nice
Next round, toss in a KORG D1?
Do one with all the same brand but different price ranges and see which is most appealing
Without telling him of course
Or mentioning brand to him prior to jumping on the keys
I'd love to see a blindfold challenge of the best 88 key MIDI controller keyboards, i.e. weighted or hammer action. I simply don't need a keyboard with its own sounds, but would like a good key action
There wouldn't really be a point, since any non-Roland or non-Kawai 88 key hammer / weighted MIDI controller uses Fatars, which are junk. Yamaha don't make simple 88-key MIDI controllers and Roland left that market recently, so your only choice is the Kawai VPC-1.
If you're willing to spend a little extra and shop around, you can look into any 88-key stage piano and use it as a MIDI controller. All of them have USB MIDI, some have a couple extra sliders and pots, and they will have better action than any dedicated controller.
A couple years back, I wanted the action in the VPC-1 but couldn't get on without a more comprehensive control surface. So I bought an MP-11. Now I want for nothing.
Every digital piano has midi usb so any can be a midi controller
@@JohnSmith-lv2hnthats not true at all
Nice impartial blind test, good vid bois. Glad he landed on the Roland because that's the one I've always thought has the edge over the P 125
(edit: now have the Roland and its incredible for the price. Tried out both of them in store and the Roland easily edged the Yamaha)
How do you record to the computer with the roland fp30?
@@aight365 literally no clue never figured it out. If you do let me know
Roland fp 30 or kawai es110? Thanks
Can someone explain this interlude duo song these two have in between the playing?🤣🤣
Do an "expensive" 88-Key Piano with some nords and yamahas and kawaiis thrown in there. Maybe make it a "road" based video for touring artists to help find a good one
They did one but could always do one jist from road based perspective
They can't do Kawai as Andertons don't sell them.
They already did an "expensive" 88 key video
Kurzweil ka90 vs Korg B2
? which you choose? Thanks
I wish they made these in 73 or 61 key versions like nord those are much easier ti carry around and the weighted keys are great
There's a 76 key version on the Yamaha called the P121
He should do a breakdown of those chords
just lots of inversions.
I mean, he surely guessed the Yamaha right away---bright and punchy CFX sample, heavy action. That's how they roll. I really think the P-125 is a big upgrade from the P-115, especially since the price remained the same. I'm really interested in seeing how the new Yamaha P-515 stacks up against the Roland FP-90 and especially, the Kawaii ES-8, particularly as far as the action and response are concerned. I'm surprised you didn't add the new Korg to this mix. I think it costs about the same as the P-125 and has the Kronos keyboard action...
sobrcelt Just for clarity’s sake, the P-125 has a sample of the Yamaha CFIIIS (known as “Pure CF”) - whereas the P-515 has the CFX sample which is the current flagship and comes equipped with binaural sampling. The P-515 is essentially a portable mid range Clavinova (wooden keys with escapement) whereas the P-125 is a portable version of the previous Arius models.
@@ItsPhilH Ah, thank you. I thought they both had the CFX 9-foot concert grand sample.
@@sobrcelt the CFIIIS is also a 9 foot grand but is a different build quality to the CFX which is the current flagship.
No issue, just wanted to make sure you were aware of the differences between the two P-series models. The P-515 is a wonderful upgrade option
I have tried all these pianos myself, and my opinion is that Roland FP30 has the best feel. I found out it is because the FP30 has key escapement, which is a feature you will only find in pianos above $1000. Also, the damper pedal is multi levels,
and the piano modeling they use combined with the sampling simulates some kind of sympathetic resonance, it is really good for the money.
The escapement feature is a bit of a gimmick. And the keys of the FP30 are heavier than most acoustic grands so they might tire your fingers out. Initially i thought heavier is better but after owning a high end Yamaha Clavinova for 5 years and trying out the Roland, I realised it's not the case. I swapped it out for a cheaper P125 and now am much happier with the action. The one and only shortcoming is I can't play more than two repeated notes in quick succession since it has only two sensors so I can't play some Scarlatti and Rachmaninoff pieces authentically.
Maybe the new casio px s1100 can do it but I haven't tried it yet.
Agreed with the other two points though. Yamaha do sell an FC3A pedal separately that supports half pedal making it much more expensive.
@@kisha_musicsince you are an expert could you help me chose my first keyboard? I have to chose between
1) Casio px-160
2) yamaha p-45
3) yamaha p-125
4) Kawai es 120
5) Roland fp 10
6) Korg b2
@@coprilettodelnapoli5466if piano playing is your focus, definitely kawai es 120 because of the action. It is even better than the p125 that I own because you can press on the inside of the keys unlike p125 where the inside gets very heavy leading to uneven playing.
This is not on your list but I have seen very good things about Casio px 560 action, sounds and features. That would be my TOP recommendation and it costs about the same as the kawai es 120. Top recommendation if you can get your hands on it (the inside of the keys can be played in this one too). Casio px 160 from your list apparently has the same action as the px 560 but I have not personally tried it.
I won't recommend the Roland fp10 and the korg b2 because the action feels like logs. They do make great unweighted keyboards. I own a Korg liano and love it to bits.
Hei guys what's your thoughts on Artesia pe 88? A bigener here
I'm upgrading from a $150 keyboard I've had for years, so I can't tell the difference between these three 😂
The sound was recorded direct but was he listening to them through monitor speakers, amps or the keyboard speakers ? Because the FP30 speakers are horrible.
What about speaking to the ease of access to a keyboard’s sounds during a performance?
I know on the Casio Px1000 and 3000 when you switch from one sound to another the previous sound will sustain
Roland is the best!
Very nice to look at aren't they
