We always suspected he might be pre diabetic, but tried to keep him on a diet similar to what you are talking about since he was diagnose with autism (5yrs old). This video is very helpful. When I was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic they sent me to a diabetes class that focused on techno babble instead of what to eat and what not to eat. I found this very informative and helpful.

Love that you admit that you were wrong about eggs! Being able to admit your own mistakes is a sign of a great mind! The ketogenic diet and low carb in general is the reason why i now have a Hba1c of 6.0 as a type 1 diabetic. Eggs and beef are the main ingredients of my diet.
Keep in mind that every reputable longevity expert like Valter Longo, for example is very much against long-term consumption of high amounts of animal protein and saturated fat.
@@JustMe-999a The lower hb1ac and BG levels in general the better, especially for T1Ds. Most of the studies criticizing the consumption of high amounts of animals products are epdimiological and therefore highly doubtable. Even if there would possibly be a danger of arteriosclerios, the benefit of having "normal" bg-levels over many years and having good insulin sensitivity far outweighs this questionable risk imho. The demonization of meat has happened with the obesity epidemic simultaneously. I can just urge everyone with autoimmune issues to try a high fat, high or moderate protein and zero/low carb approach.
@ladyleaner DKA is the state where insulin resistance is so high, that your cells wont react to the insulin secreated by the pancreas or injection. Your cells are basically starving of energy, whereas your bloodsugar was increasing. The ketogenic diet if done correctly, decreases insulin resistance and works the other way round. This is because of the big reduction in total insulin usage. In my case the meatbased ketogenic diet improved my T1D significantly. I now need about half the insulin i used before, when i was mostly eating low carb. You should try to eat mostly whole foods, meat, eggs, avocados, walnuts and try to stay away from artifical "keto"-products. Dont be afraid of cholesterol. Watch your electrolytes. I would recommened the youtube channels of Thomas Delauer, Dr. Rob Cywes or Dr. Ken Berry. The Physicians have great experience working with Diabetics and propose the natural progression from Dr. Bernsteins Methods imho.
I ate eggs daily trying to treat insulin resistance and prediabetes symptoms and I ended up with extremely high LDL. Ugh just can't win. I'm going to start doing more egg whites with less yolk.
As soon as I was diagnosed with type two diabetes I started eating eggs pretty much every day for breakfast. My doctor told me in 30 years of working with diabetics he’s never seen anyone go off medication that fast!
Purely by accident I discovered that, for whatever dietary reason, adding a few table spoons of apple cider vinegar to my daily diet significantly dropped my glucose levels by at least 25%. Simply add some vinegar to a salad or some else, and my glucose levels improve significantly. I can't explain dietary science as to why it works, but it has been the most effective and simple change to my diet for improving my glucose level.
I recommend anybody struggling with blood sugar try it. I had a friend try to tell me how magical it is for everything, and I was very skeptical. I tried it and within an hour my reading had dropped 20 plus points in a fasting state. I have begun taking 2-3 tablespoons before every meal, and it has steadily improved. Just make sure to dilute it in water or drink water immediately after to protect your teeth. This may not work for everybody, but give it a shot.
@@nrnoble Soda pop is a double whammy on your teeth - the acid and the sugar will damage your teeth - ruin enamel and cause cavities. Sitting around eating lemons and limes will cause tooth damage due to the high acid content - ruins enamel. Vinegar damages enamel. Take it with water and/or food - dilutes the acid.
@@nrnoble It can damage the enamel on your teeth over time if not washed off. Anything acidic can do this such as lemons. It is just a good idea to just wash it off or dilute it. I drink it straight and just chase it with water.
Just a theory....because although Type 1 for 34 years now, I still don't consider myself an expert.....but I tell myself what we think a normal portion size is for many foods is way too much. Example. I could sprinkle a couple of TBSP of black beans or chickpeas over a salad and still benefit from their nutrients. Who needs a cup or half cup of any carby food? I do same thing with oranges. I cut into 8 wedges and put two on my breakfast plate....it looks more like a garnish than a serving, but I get what I need from that tiny portion. That orange lasts me 4 days in a ziploc bag. :-) I sometimes swap that out for 1/2 slice of toast. Bread? Yikes! Yes, sometimes I need to satisfy that craving but I can do it with less. I don't need one or two whole slices. Two cherries? Six berries? Four cherry tomatoes? Three small squares of dark chocolate? Those tiny chocolate bars from ALDI give me four servings. This approach helps me keep variety in my diet and not feel like I have to omit or deny myself anything. Many diabetics preach about the law of small numbers. I cling to my theory on the law of small portions.
Type 1 for 46 years here ( since 6 years old),,, things have certainly gotten easier to manage, but it is ALWAYS a daily challenge,,,I couldn’t agree more about portions, less is more, and CGM absolutely helps with those decisions,,,hang in there!☘️☘️☘️
Excellent advice. I would add exercise. I went from a job where I was on my feet all day to a sedentary one. Wow! It really affected my glucose levels!

I believe u absolutely right. The issue is the portion. If we watch Asian East is literally 1/3 to 1/4 of the size meal we eat on the west. That advice is great for everyone not just diabetics.
Eggs and Avocado are great !! I have them in my breakfast with 3 eggs omelette (2 eggs whites and 1 egg whole) with sprinkle of flaxseeds, pumpkin seed and half avocado.
Hello: You can take a video off YT and edit it and put it back online. I've had to do that process before. I like your videos and all the information you share. I just got my diagnosis from Dr last week. I started my new eating program that day. I've also been so sick this past week. My body was so use to eating sugar and carbs that its gone into withdrawals. Headache, body aches, weakness in my legs, sleepy all the time, but only sleeping a couple hours at a time, and my eyes hurt. I am on meds, vitamins, and I will get better... it may take a few more days, but I will get free of this disease! Thank u again for helping us out with good info. Blessings.

I tried for years to increase my HDLs to no avail. Then I was caring at home for my aunt with severe dementia. This made it nearly impossible to go to the grocery store. But, we had chickens that produced lots of eggs. You could feed her the same thing over and over, and she wouldn’t know the difference. So we ate lots and lots of eggs. When it was time for my yearly blood work, i dreaded the thought of my cholesterol panel. BUT, to my amazement, it was the first time ever for my HDLs to go up to a good level. I think it was because of all the eggs. Anyway, the eggs didn’t make any bad outcomes. So now i feel good a out eggs, and feel good about eating them.
That is because we have been lied to for years about cholesterol! It is the over abundance of sugar and simple carbs that cause small particle LDL and transfats to go ballistic.
16:12 I use fresh Italian parsley, that comes in a bunch that chopped up is about 2 full cups, in dinner every night. I also use spinach but not as much, because it's more likely going to be used in a salad. The parsley is a very bright but not citrusy flavor and since it doesn't smell like cooked spinach my family is going eat it.
I believe in eggs. Keeps me from eating out of control to start the day. 7 items listed are a great reminder as we are to be saving our organs as diabetics. Thanks!
Thanks Tom! I have chia seeds and spinach and berries in my rotation as well. I've recently added Ceylon cinnamon and Apple Cider Vinegar; I combine those with green tea and a little honey and drink at least two cups a day. It has done WONDERS for my insulin sensitivity (I'm type II and recently was able to get off meds). Over the thanksgiving holiday, I ate all kinds of cakes and pies and dressing and high carb foods while checking my sugar every hour to see how it would affect me....the highest reading I got was 135....and this was checking at an hour and two hours after eating. Also, I love how you very tastefully and "elegantly" touched on the benefits you received with maca root powder; I've never heard of it but am going to order some today and see if it will help me "perk up" too LOL
Hello I have been a type 1 diabetic for 38 years and I can tell you that I eat eggs almost every day a minimum of 4 eggs a day Never had cholesterol problems Never had any spikes after eating eggs not even a rise in blood sugar To me its my number 1 super food
I take 4 eggs almost every day. I’m 62. No issues with high cholesterol. And both parents had very high cholesterol. My mom had such bad fats that the triglycerides literally separated visibly in blood draws. They had to dilute it a couple of times to even get a reading.

I couldn't get hold of any Peruvian Maca root powder to sprinkle into my breakfast bowl, so substituted it with Peruvian marching powder. I found it boosted my energy and performance enormously.😄
Eggs are one of my Superfoods. We have our own chickens so they are organic. We eat a BLE diet which is no flour, no sugar. Lost 21 lbs in 3 1/2 months and I love the recipes. All of my meals include every one of these Superfoods.

Number one for me... organic eggs or pasture-fed steak (or both). Number 2: wild salmon/prawns. Number 3: avocado Number 4: leafy greens/other low GI veg Number 4 coconut oil/100% chocolate/almond butter mix, chilled in fridge/raspberries on top (it gives me a keto choccy fix!)
In reference to Item #6 (Beans): Beans are high in protein. So when you combine them with something like potatoes the glucose spike is slowed down because the body it working on breaking down the protein first and the carbs second. My Clinical Pharmacist explained this to me just yesterday. She said if I occasionally want to eat something that spikes my glucose to eat some protein along with it. It was interesting that you confirmed that to me this morning.

Dear Tom, Thank you for this great video. Appreciate very much. But what I miss here is MY super food which is OAT! And more surprising is that this even does not appear in any of the comments here below. The greatest aspect of oats is, if you eat them 3times a day (e.g. just soaked in cold water and with berries like black berries or cranberries) and 3 to 4 days it has an impact on your blood sugar for a longer time period (5-6 weeks or longer). And besides that it a kind of super food for many other "deseases" like high blood pressure, gout or gastrointestinal issues. In Germany we call this ""Haferkur" and this can be done once a month. 3times a day seems to be quite hard especially at lunch or diner. In the morning you can take it as a breakfast. At lunch I first take a lot of vegetable curry and then as a dessert I take oats mixed up with cranberries and cold water. And diner is similar to lunch. So it is not that hard to keep up for 3 days. I tried this already twice the past two month and I am seeing great results already after short time. Apart from that you can also do it with intermittent fasting. Would be interested of your opinion and curious whether you will give a try! Regards, Janni
Micro greens of kale or broccoli is much less strong tasting and even better in nutrients.We love this option. Even better than spinach but with the same taste is a wild green called lambs quarter if you haven't tried it then you are missing out.
Do you have thoughts on Sea Moss or Sea Moss Gel!? it is packed with nutrients.. and is from the Sea.. also Wheatgrass water made from grass under 7 inches tall.. cut the grass into small pieces and put into the vitamin or equivalent blender.. with water .. the fiber rises to the top and you are left with very green water filled with nutrients and chlorophyl.. wheatgrass lowers blood sugar levels it seems.. thoughts? I have heard the cholesterol in eggs as you stated does not effect bad high cholesterol numbers.. as you say here. rather it seems high cholesterol numbers are due to something within the metabolism of sugars..
I only eat eggs for breakfast on the weekend.. During the week, I use low carb protein powder with plant milk and instant coffee.. Eggs are my weekend breakfast treat.
@Anna Payne. Processed lab concoctions such as protein powder, plant milk and instant coffee be considered anything but unhealthy? Processed food is laboratory twisted, artificial, refined, contaminated, and impaired! It is definitely not better than daily doses of real eggs!
@user-sq9pi1pw2e Not all protein powders are whey-based. Mine is mostly from pea protein and is Berry flavoured. I think a mistake a lot of people make is to add too much sugar or fruit to the shakes they make. I sometimes add honey or maple syrup, but have noticed when I drastically tried to cut out refined sugars (on first being diagnosed) that just using berries with homemade almond milk kept me satiated for a very long time and I got used to not having any sugar except from the fruit. I often read fruit first thing raises blood sugar, but I feel healthier for it & it makes heavier breakfasts or brunches less tempting. I often add a teaspoon of moringa powder or wheatgrass powder to my shakes also.
I love that your mom made you spinach dishes when you were a child. It would be great if you could share those recipes with all of us! I love spinach too, but I'm always baffled at how to fix it in different ways! I have 1 problem with apple cider vinegar though. I love it, but the high acid content it causes me to breakout in cystic acne...all over my face. It's horrible. I can't go out in public for weeks with my face literally covered with boils! If anyone out there can offer any suggestions how I can use apple cider vinegar without this break out, I would appreciate it very much!
Have you ever tried spanakopita? There are some great recipes online and I have tried a couple of them and boy is it good! Just remember when you get to the part where you're getting ready to put the phyllo dough onto the cooking sheet, you put parchment paper down first and then Italian seasoning! And THEN that will keep your bottom crust crispy.
I don't like cooked spinach only raw however I discovered it you put spinach in any soup, sauce or hot dish you don't taste the spinach but you get the benefits. I buy fresh then freeze. So when I am cooking I just grab some out the freezer it crumples in little pieces. Mushrooms, peppers other veggies I dice and freeze. So I no excuse for not eating veggies and I don't worry about how to cook spinach because it's in everything
great list and all of these items can also work on a KETO diet. I make CHIA seed pudding all the time. I love a good spinach quiche. I am going to have to look at black beans more, never thought of them.

I eat raw spinach almost every day as I usually eat a salad every day and use spinach instead of lettuce. I always add chia seeds to my oatmeal but usually forget to add it to anything else. Berries are added to my frequently eaten yogurt.
Easier to find in the US Southwest and Mexico/Central America... Nopales, a variety of cactus, grilled both because of the fiber, and the change of the chemistry in the sap (sort of like Aloe Vera) helps to lower Blood Sugar. We also use Jamaica, which are dried Hyacynth flowers, making a tea or cooling it down and drinking it chilled. It is a little bitter if you don't add sugar free sweeteners, but it is known to block the absorption of Carbs.
wow this is the first video I watched for you and when I reached the part of eggs I respected you a lot! an immediate follow of course. as a dietitian I am glad you did the research and found that eggs are actually great for you. Saturated fat and processed food will increase your "bad cholesterol", but never never the eggs.

I don't eat black beans (or any beans) as a serving on my plate, but I do add a can to soups that I make myself. I also add a can of my favorite spaghetti sauce. A plate of spaghetti has too many carbs, but adding a can of sauce to a large pot of soup adds a lot of flavor but not many carbs to a bowlful. I use a large roasting pan to make soup in so that it lasts all week. I first roast chicken legs in the pan on a rack, then I freeze the legs and use the pan drippings to make the soup. I add cabbage, celery, onion, green pepper, and any salad greens that need to be used up. Also frozen mixed vegetables. When reheating my soup I add shrimp or any other meat. Finally, I save the bones from the chicken legs to make bone broth, which is great as is, or makes another pot soup.
@@dmoney7184 I've tried chickpea and red lentil pasta, the texture of the noodles is not good. I haven't tried shirataki noodles yet, they don't look too good. I'll add a handful of barley to soups.
Here’s a good one…slice up some apples, bananas, blueberries set aside. Use steelhead oats, half cup. Quarter or half teaspoon of cinnamon. Teaspoon of peanut butter. Flax seeds 15 grams. Mix and enjoy
For the Black Beans. It's the fibre. Fibre and/or fat significantly reduce the metabolic absorption of the sugars (Fibre does a way better job). Equally chickpeas are pretty loaded with both. Carbs + Fibre = slow release. Kale sucks in a massive way. Cream your spinach with a few tablespoons of reduced cream (fibre + fat right!) and you can have mashed potatoes! (well a bit.)
I'm curious, have does "kale suck in a massive way"? It is good at scraping the walls of your colon, it is loaded with all kinds of nutrients, and it regulates bowels. How is that bad?

I’m type 1. I go to the gym a LOT and I’m currently in a bulking phase so I look for ways to get in a lot of calories without spiking blood sugar. For me frying eggs in olive oil is an easy way to get in calories. Without them it would be very difficult for me to hit my protein and calorie goals each day.
I have phased eggs out of my diet except for maybe 1 every few weeks. I started needing to drink vegan protein powders to make up for the lost protein from eggs and also dairy. not going to lie, it was tough, i did loose some weight tho.
@@cbryce9243 good question. I read the label and buy quality products. I'm trying to avoid large amounts or animal protein and fat since that seems to give me insulin resistance. A month into a vegan diet and I went from 50g carbs a day to like 700g and use the same amount of insulin.

Walking. Do it as often as you are capable of, especially after eating as it helps blood sugar, digestion and blood circulation. I know that it's obvious BUT our species developed walking at least 8-10hrs a day and if you really do the research nothing is easier or better for overall health (especially stress). Not preaching, just got super sick myself and forcing tiny regular daily walks has made a massive difference in my recovery. Good luck!
I am using maitake mushroom pulver and Reishi mushroom Pulver. It helped me with my Bloodsugar. Its making the Insulin resistance better. And i Need Less Insulin. I am type1 since 14 years. I am 23 years old now. Thanks for your Videos ❤️
I am always doing research on keeping that GKI low, then I realized the tube was not throwing you up there in searches like it used to. My search terms are pretty specific, and you used to populate in the top three always, seems weird youtube leaving you out.
Thank you for your superfood list. The only thing I don’t like is 10:24 cooked spinach but fortunately Ilike raw spinach and I am very happy using a little apple cider vinegar to give it some pep. I had never heard of Mac-a 10:24 root but I have it on my list to order if I cannot find it locally. I do like eggs and I have some in my fridge that I cook in the microwave or I also like hard boiled without any additives except maybe some pepper on occasion. I have found pepper adds flavor and I haven’t ever heard anything bad about it. Oh, I am Type 2 but your UA-cam videos have helped me tremendously and since my A1C was 6.2 (I am in the USA) I would prefer it to be lower and since the holidays are over I am going to get back in control and add more vegetables to my diet. I also appreciate the reminder about the black beans. I need the fiber. Enough of my life history I just wanted to you to know how much you are appreciated.

Thank you kind sir. I was always very thin until I got diagnosed with Celiac disease and started eating more GF processed food. And over Covid lockdown, I went on an ice cream diet. Not a healthy choice, but I am working on it now. Soaking chia seeds was a surprise to me. I do eat yogurt with blueberries with chia seeds, but now I will soak them first. I've not seen many of your videos, so I will go look now. You and many commenters are very helpful and encouraging. I really need to lose weight and get healthy. I feel horrible. Thanks again.
I took Berbirine. My blood sugar really went down! But the down side is after taking it for a week I had body aches and pains specially my joints. I checked the checked the negative effects and found out that joint pain is really the down side of taking it. So sad😔
@@deekap8387 Berberine from healthy directions is great, it has cinnamon and chromium in it. My mother has been using it for about 3 years now, she doesn't have to use metformin, yay
I can explain the things with the beans. The fiber is food for your gut bacteria. They produce short chain fatty acids and then the L cells make more GLP-1 and PYY. The GLP-1 tells the alpha cells to reduce glucagon production and then the reduced glucagon tells the liver to reduce blood sugar production. This is the natural way of GLP-1 production. Of course you could inject artificial GLP-1 with the Ozempic pen once a week as well. But I would prefer the natural way

I would like your opinion on a smoothie I eat everyday. 1cup or less of watermelon, 2 cups of kale[hate spinach] nearly 1 cup of frozen blueberries. The reason I use so much kale is because I like the smoothie on the thick side to eat it with a spoon, I also add a healthy tbls of ground flax, sometimes ground nuts,, almonds or walnuts.

The ketogenic diet and low carb in general is the reason why i now have a Hba1c of 6.0 as a type 1 diabetic. Eggs and beef are the main ingredients of my diet.
Keep in mind that every reputable longevity expert like Valter Longo, for example is very much against long-term consumption of high amounts of animal protein and saturated fat.
@@JustMe-999a The lower hb1ac and BG levels in general the better, especially for T1Ds. Most of the studies criticizing the consumption of high amounts of animals products are epdimiological and therefore highly doubtable. Even if there would possibly be a danger of arteriosclerios, the benefit of having "normal" bg-levels over many years and having good insulin sensitivity far outweighs this questionable risk imho.
The demonization of meat has happened with the obesity epidemic simultaneously. I can just urge everyone with autoimmune issues to try a high fat, high or moderate protein and zero/low carb approach.

@ladyleaner DKA is the state where insulin resistance is so high, that your cells wont react to the insulin secreated by the pancreas or injection. Your cells are basically starving of energy, whereas your bloodsugar was increasing. The ketogenic diet if done correctly, decreases insulin resistance and works the other way round. This is because of the big reduction in total insulin usage. In my case the meatbased ketogenic diet improved my T1D significantly. I now need about half the insulin i used before, when i was mostly eating low carb.
You should try to eat mostly whole foods, meat, eggs, avocados, walnuts and try to stay away from artifical "keto"-products. Dont be afraid of cholesterol. Watch your electrolytes. I would recommened the youtube channels of Thomas Delauer, Dr. Rob Cywes or Dr. Ken Berry. The Physicians have great experience working with Diabetics and propose the natural progression from Dr. Bernsteins Methods imho.

I boiled my eggs, chopped them up put it in a salad with greens, tomatoes, 2 slices of beets and shrimp. Very satisfying!

I ate eggs daily trying to treat insulin resistance and prediabetes symptoms and I ended up with extremely high LDL. Ugh just can't win. I'm going to start doing more egg whites with less yolk.
As soon as I was diagnosed with type two diabetes I started eating eggs pretty much every day for breakfast. My doctor told me in 30 years of working with diabetics he’s never seen anyone go off medication that fast!

Purely by accident I discovered that, for whatever dietary reason, adding a few table spoons of apple cider vinegar to my daily diet significantly dropped my glucose levels by at least 25%. Simply add some vinegar to a salad or some else, and my glucose levels improve significantly. I can't explain dietary science as to why it works, but it has been the most effective and simple change to my diet for improving my glucose level.
I recommend anybody struggling with blood sugar try it. I had a friend try to tell me how magical it is for everything, and I was very skeptical. I tried it and within an hour my reading had dropped 20 plus points in a fasting state. I have begun taking 2-3 tablespoons before every meal, and it has steadily improved. Just make sure to dilute it in water or drink water immediately after to protect your teeth. This may not work for everybody, but give it a shot.

@@nrnoble Soda pop is a double whammy on your teeth - the acid and the sugar will damage your teeth - ruin enamel and cause cavities. Sitting around eating lemons and limes will cause tooth damage due to the high acid content - ruins enamel. Vinegar damages enamel. Take it with water and/or food - dilutes the acid.
@@nrnoble It can damage the enamel on your teeth over time if not washed off. Anything acidic can do this such as lemons. It is just a good idea to just wash it off or dilute it. I drink it straight and just chase it with water.

Just a theory....because although Type 1 for 34 years now, I still don't consider myself an expert.....but I tell myself what we think a normal portion size is for many foods is way too much. Example. I could sprinkle a couple of TBSP of black beans or chickpeas over a salad and still benefit from their nutrients. Who needs a cup or half cup of any carby food? I do same thing with oranges. I cut into 8 wedges and put two on my breakfast plate....it looks more like a garnish than a serving, but I get what I need from that tiny portion. That orange lasts me 4 days in a ziploc bag. :-) I sometimes swap that out for 1/2 slice of toast. Bread? Yikes! Yes, sometimes I need to satisfy that craving but I can do it with less. I don't need one or two whole slices. Two cherries? Six berries? Four cherry tomatoes? Three small squares of dark chocolate? Those tiny chocolate bars from ALDI give me four servings. This approach helps me keep variety in my diet and not feel like I have to omit or deny myself anything. Many diabetics preach about the law of small numbers. I cling to my theory on the law of small portions.
Type 1 for 46 years here ( since 6 years old),,, things have certainly gotten easier to manage, but it is ALWAYS a daily challenge,,,I couldn’t agree more about portions, less is more, and CGM absolutely helps with those decisions,,,hang in there!☘️☘️☘️

I believe u absolutely right. The issue is the portion. If we watch Asian East is literally 1/3 to 1/4 of the size meal we eat on the west. That advice is great for everyone not just diabetics.

I like your videos and all the information you share. I just got my diagnosis from Dr last week. I started my new eating program that day.
I've also been so sick this past week. My body was so use to eating sugar and carbs that its gone into withdrawals. Headache, body aches, weakness in my legs, sleepy all the time, but only sleeping a couple hours at a time, and my eyes hurt. I am on meds, vitamins, and I will get better... it may take a few more days, but I will get free of this disease! Thank u again for helping us out with good info. Blessings.

I tried for years to increase my HDLs to no avail. Then I was caring at home for my aunt with severe dementia. This made it nearly impossible to go to the grocery store. But, we had chickens that produced lots of eggs. You could feed her the same thing over and over, and she wouldn’t know the difference. So we ate lots and lots of eggs. When it was time for my yearly blood work, i dreaded the thought of my cholesterol panel. BUT, to my amazement, it was the first time ever for my HDLs to go up to a good level. I think it was because of all the eggs. Anyway, the eggs didn’t make any bad outcomes. So now i feel good a out eggs, and feel good about eating them.
That is because we have been lied to for years about cholesterol! It is the over abundance of sugar and simple carbs that cause small particle LDL and transfats to go ballistic.

16:12 I use fresh Italian parsley, that comes in a bunch that chopped up is about 2 full cups, in dinner every night. I also use spinach but not as much, because it's more likely going to be used in a salad. The parsley is a very bright but not citrusy flavor and since it doesn't smell like cooked spinach my family is going eat it.

Thanks Tom! I have chia seeds and spinach and berries in my rotation as well. I've recently added Ceylon cinnamon and Apple Cider Vinegar; I combine those with green tea and a little honey and drink at least two cups a day. It has done WONDERS for my insulin sensitivity (I'm type II and recently was able to get off meds). Over the thanksgiving holiday, I ate all kinds of cakes and pies and dressing and high carb foods while checking my sugar every hour to see how it would affect me....the highest reading I got was 135....and this was checking at an hour and two hours after eating.
Also, I love how you very tastefully and "elegantly" touched on the benefits you received with maca root powder; I've never heard of it but am going to order some today and see if it will help me "perk up" too LOL

Hello I have been a type 1 diabetic for 38 years and I can tell you that I eat eggs almost every day a minimum of 4 eggs a day
Never had cholesterol problems
Never had any spikes after eating eggs not even a rise in blood sugar
To me its my number 1 super food

I take 4 eggs almost every day. I’m 62. No issues with high cholesterol. And both parents had very high cholesterol. My mom had such bad fats that the triglycerides literally separated visibly in blood draws. They had to dilute it a couple of times to even get a reading.

I couldn't get hold of any Peruvian Maca root powder to sprinkle into my breakfast bowl, so substituted it with Peruvian marching powder. I found it boosted my energy and performance enormously.😄

Eggs are one of my Superfoods. We have our own chickens so they are organic. We eat a BLE diet which is no flour, no sugar. Lost 21 lbs in 3 1/2 months and I love the recipes. All of my meals include every one of these Superfoods.
Iv recently decided to get a pump and all your videos so far are helping me, at the moment I’m struggling with diabetes I am in hospital at the moment but I was diagnosed when I was 4, but I struggle a lot with needles . So thank you for all your help you are the best ever

Number one for me... organic eggs or pasture-fed steak (or both). Number 2: wild salmon/prawns. Number 3: avocado Number 4: leafy greens/other low GI veg Number 4 coconut oil/100% chocolate/almond butter mix, chilled in fridge/raspberries on top (it gives me a keto choccy fix!)

In reference to Item #6 (Beans): Beans are high in protein. So when you combine them with something like potatoes the glucose spike is slowed down because the body it working on breaking down the protein first and the carbs second. My Clinical Pharmacist explained this to me just yesterday. She said if I occasionally want to eat something that spikes my glucose to eat some protein along with it. It was interesting that you confirmed that to me this morning.

But what I miss here is MY super food which is OAT! And more surprising is that this even does not appear in any of the comments here below.
The greatest aspect of oats is, if you eat them 3times a day (e.g. just soaked in cold water and with berries like black berries or cranberries) and 3 to 4 days it has an impact on your blood sugar for a longer time period (5-6 weeks or longer). And besides that it a kind of super food for many other "deseases" like high blood pressure, gout or gastrointestinal issues. In Germany we call this ""Haferkur" and this can be done once a month.
3times a day seems to be quite hard especially at lunch or diner. In the morning you can take it as a breakfast. At lunch I first take a lot of vegetable curry and then as a dessert I take oats mixed up with cranberries and cold water. And diner is similar to lunch. So it is not that hard to keep up for 3 days. I tried this already twice the past two month and I am seeing great results already after short time. Apart from that you can also do it with intermittent fasting.
Would be interested of your opinion and curious whether you will give a try!

Micro greens of kale or broccoli is much less strong tasting and even better in nutrients.We love this option. Even better than spinach but with the same taste is a wild green called lambs quarter if you haven't tried it then you are missing out.
Do you have thoughts on Sea Moss or Sea Moss Gel!? it is packed with nutrients.. and is from the Sea.. also Wheatgrass water made from grass under 7 inches tall.. cut the grass into small pieces and put into the vitamin or equivalent blender.. with water .. the fiber rises to the top and you are left with very green water filled with nutrients and chlorophyl.. wheatgrass lowers blood sugar levels it seems.. thoughts?
I have heard the cholesterol in eggs as you stated does not effect bad high cholesterol numbers.. as you say here. rather it seems high cholesterol numbers are due to something within the metabolism of sugars..

I only eat eggs for breakfast on the weekend.. During the week, I use low carb protein powder with plant milk and instant coffee.. Eggs are my weekend breakfast treat.
@Anna Payne. Processed lab concoctions such as protein powder, plant milk and instant coffee be considered anything but unhealthy? Processed food is laboratory twisted, artificial, refined, contaminated, and impaired! It is definitely not better than daily doses of real eggs!

@user-sq9pi1pw2e Not all protein powders are whey-based. Mine is mostly from pea protein and is Berry flavoured. I think a mistake a lot of people make is to add too much sugar or fruit to the shakes they make. I sometimes add honey or maple syrup, but have noticed when I drastically tried to cut out refined sugars (on first being diagnosed) that just using berries with homemade almond milk kept me satiated for a very long time and I got used to not having any sugar except from the fruit. I often read fruit first thing raises blood sugar, but I feel healthier for it & it makes heavier breakfasts or brunches less tempting. I often add a teaspoon of moringa powder or wheatgrass powder to my shakes also.
I love that your mom made you spinach dishes when you were a child. It would be great if you could share those recipes with all of us! I love spinach too, but I'm always baffled at how to fix it in different ways!
I have 1 problem with apple cider vinegar though. I love it, but the high acid content it causes me to breakout in cystic acne...all over my face. It's horrible. I can't go out in public for weeks with my face literally covered with boils! If anyone out there can offer any suggestions how I can use apple cider vinegar without this break out, I would appreciate it very much!
You might have an allergic reaction to it, do the other vinegars affect you the same way too? If yes, lemon juice has similar effects on blood sugar.
Have you ever tried spanakopita? There are some great recipes online and I have tried a couple of them and boy is it good!
Just remember when you get to the part where you're getting ready to put the phyllo dough onto the cooking sheet, you put parchment paper down first and then Italian seasoning! And THEN that will keep your bottom crust crispy.
I don't like cooked spinach only raw however I discovered it you put spinach in any soup, sauce or hot dish you don't taste the spinach but you get the benefits. I buy fresh then freeze. So when I am cooking I just grab some out the freezer it crumples in little pieces. Mushrooms, peppers other veggies I dice and freeze. So I no excuse for not eating veggies and I don't worry about how to cook spinach because it's in everything

I eat raw spinach almost every day as I usually eat a salad every day and use spinach instead of lettuce. I always add chia seeds to my oatmeal but usually forget to add it to anything else. Berries are added to my frequently eaten yogurt.

Easier to find in the US Southwest and Mexico/Central America... Nopales, a variety of cactus, grilled both because of the fiber, and the change of the chemistry in the sap (sort of like Aloe Vera) helps to lower Blood Sugar. We also use Jamaica, which are dried Hyacynth flowers, making a tea or cooling it down and drinking it chilled. It is a little bitter if you don't add sugar free sweeteners, but it is known to block the absorption of Carbs.

wow this is the first video I watched for you and when I reached the part of eggs I respected you a lot! an immediate follow of course. as a dietitian I am glad you did the research and found that eggs are actually great for you. Saturated fat and processed food will increase your "bad cholesterol", but never never the eggs.

I don't eat black beans (or any beans) as a serving on my plate, but I do add a can to soups that I make myself. I also add a can of my favorite spaghetti sauce. A plate of spaghetti has too many carbs, but adding a can of sauce to a large pot of soup adds a lot of flavor but not many carbs to a bowlful. I use a large roasting pan to make soup in so that it lasts all week. I first roast chicken legs in the pan on a rack, then I freeze the legs and use the pan drippings to make the soup. I add cabbage, celery, onion, green pepper, and any salad greens that need to be used up. Also frozen mixed vegetables. When reheating my soup I add shrimp or any other meat. Finally, I save the bones from the chicken legs to make bone broth, which is great as is, or makes another pot soup.

@@dmoney7184 I've tried chickpea and red lentil pasta, the texture of the noodles is not good. I haven't tried shirataki noodles yet, they don't look too good. I'll add a handful of barley to soups.

Here’s a good one…slice up some apples, bananas, blueberries set aside. Use steelhead oats, half cup. Quarter or half teaspoon of cinnamon. Teaspoon of peanut butter. Flax seeds 15 grams. Mix and enjoy

For the Black Beans. It's the fibre. Fibre and/or fat significantly reduce the metabolic absorption of the sugars (Fibre does a way better job). Equally chickpeas are pretty loaded with both. Carbs + Fibre = slow release. Kale sucks in a massive way. Cream your spinach with a few tablespoons of reduced cream (fibre + fat right!) and you can have mashed potatoes! (well a bit.)

I’m type 1. I go to the gym a LOT and I’m currently in a bulking phase so I look for ways to get in a lot of calories without spiking blood sugar. For me frying eggs in olive oil is an easy way to get in calories. Without them it would be very difficult for me to hit my protein and calorie goals each day.

I have phased eggs out of my diet except for maybe 1 every few weeks. I started needing to drink vegan protein powders to make up for the lost protein from eggs and also dairy. not going to lie, it was tough, i did loose some weight tho.

@@cbryce9243 good question. I read the label and buy quality products. I'm trying to avoid large amounts or animal protein and fat since that seems to give me insulin resistance. A month into a vegan diet and I went from 50g carbs a day to like 700g and use the same amount of insulin.

Do it as often as you are capable of, especially after eating as it helps blood sugar, digestion and blood circulation. I know that it's obvious BUT our species developed walking at least 8-10hrs a day and if you really do the research nothing is easier or better for overall health (especially stress).
Not preaching, just got super sick myself and forcing tiny regular daily walks has made a massive difference in my recovery.

Unfortunately, Spinach is also very high in Oxalate, which means it also is a key contributor to developing kidney stones.
I believe it also inhibits calcium absorption.🙄

You can lock up the oxalates with lemon juice from real lemons, not a bottle.

Thank you for your superfood list. The only thing I don’t like is 10:24 cooked spinach but fortunately Ilike raw spinach and I am very happy using a little apple cider vinegar to give it some pep. I had never heard of Mac-a 10:24 root but I have it on my list to order if I cannot find it locally. I do like eggs and I have some in my fridge that I cook in the microwave or I also like hard boiled without any additives except maybe some pepper on occasion. I have found pepper adds flavor and I haven’t ever heard anything bad about it. Oh, I am Type 2 but your UA-cam videos have helped me tremendously and since my A1C was 6.2 (I am in the USA) I would prefer it to be lower and since the holidays are over I am going to get back in control and add more vegetables to my diet. I also appreciate the reminder about the black beans. I need the fiber. Enough of my life history I just wanted to you to know how much you are appreciated.

Thank you kind sir. I was always very thin until I got diagnosed with Celiac disease and started eating more GF processed food. And over Covid lockdown, I went on an ice cream diet. Not a healthy choice, but I am working on it now.
Soaking chia seeds was a surprise to me. I do eat yogurt with blueberries with chia seeds, but now I will soak them first. I've not seen many of your videos, so I will go look now. You and many commenters are very helpful and encouraging. I really need to lose weight and get healthy. I feel horrible.

I took Berbirine. My blood sugar really went down! But the down side is after taking it for a week I had body aches and pains specially my joints. I checked the checked the negative effects and found out that joint pain is really the down side of taking it. So sad😔

I can explain the things with the beans. The fiber is food for your gut bacteria. They produce short chain fatty acids and then the L cells make more GLP-1 and PYY. The GLP-1 tells the alpha cells to reduce glucagon production and then the reduced glucagon tells the liver to reduce blood sugar production. This is the natural way of GLP-1 production. Of course you could inject artificial GLP-1 with the Ozempic pen once a week as well. But I would prefer the natural way

I would like your opinion on a smoothie I eat everyday. 1cup or less of watermelon, 2 cups of kale[hate spinach] nearly 1 cup of frozen blueberries. The reason I use so much kale is because I like the smoothie on the thick side to eat it with a spoon, I also add a healthy tbls of ground flax, sometimes ground nuts,, almonds or walnuts.
I will try blackberries next time I go to the grocery store.
