this is definitely my favorite scene as everyone gets their chance to showcased their emotions with elle fanning, i wish phoebe fox was here too but for the whole show, i thought belinda bromilow as aunt elizabeth was the strongest supporting character this season so i hope she gets recognized this award season along with elle fanning and nicholas hoult.
Lol I had to reread Russia's imperial history or else I'll forget Aunt Elisabeth is actually an empress in reality and not like Catherine's lady-in-waiting and/or the couple's advisor (as she is somewhat depicted in this series)
Yes, she was the aunt of Peter III and was the Empress of Russia from 1741 after overthrowing her cousin's regime and was Empress until 1762, when she died. Also, she adopted Peter as her heir even though he was more German than Russian. Also, she was the daughter of Peter the Great while Peter III was the grandson of Peter the Great. Also, Paul was already 8 when his mother became Empress, and Catherine and Peter were second cousins, through Cathrine's mother and Peter's father.
