Thanks for the nice video. Do you worry about the contaminated water affecting the fish? You mentioned that they come-in during this season; are they ocean schooling fish and return to spawn?
@dpe4 contaminated water is definitely a concern and consumption of any fish caught in ny harbor should be limited. fish like the blackfish that come inshore for shorter periods are a little safer than the ones that come for long stretches of time like the striped bass. not sure why the blackfish come inshore. i heard it is to spawn and i also heard it is to eat a run of crabs that we get this time of year. they do spend most of their time in cleaner deeper water too far for my little kayak
when i cast and bounce the amount of jigs lost increases so i try to go as verticle as possible or keep the casts short and in an area the i know snags are less frequient but are next to heavy structure.
