- Today’s feature was aware a quick end to his career would come sooner than most NBA players, as he began his career in the league a damaged prospect, only playing 10 games his rookie season, missing the final 52 after having an operation to repair a herniated disc. In his second season just 36 games due to another surgery to repair a broken left wrist on his shooting hand. At that point Jackson says he’s always known he was one foot in one foot out of the NBA, and that his career would most likely end much sooner than many expected. He entered the league a mature 23 year old, after having spent 4 years at the university of Oregon, where he became a star by just his sophomore year, helping in leading his team to the elite 8 as second option to high flyer Fred Jones. When Jones graduated, he a Luke Ridnour starred leading the Ducks to the tournament once again before a stellar senior year for Jackson and eventually a 10th overall pick by the Cavaliers in 2004. The Cavs selected Luke to pair with Lebron James going into his second year after being the most hyped prospect, having immediate success, and clearly the guy to build the team around. But that pairing never really materialized and Luke Jackson didn’t last long in that role, traded after 2 seasons, dealing with more issues, demoted to the d league, playing more games there than in the NBA. Dude I literally just looked this dude up yesterday and then you upload this. That’s crazy 😂👌🏾
Was trying to remember who requested this. Salute! 💯
@@stuntedgrowth always with the great uploads man 🙏🏿🙏🏿
@@stuntedgrowth it was me. Thanks for the request! 👊
This has happened a few times over the years and I’m like, “god told you to upload this video for me” 😂😂😂
Need one on Raef LaFrentz. Dude was ahead of his time and the 90s couldn’t find a role for him.
He was a starter and in a good team the mavs but got injured and fell off
Just wasn't as good as Webber, Garnett, Duncan, Dirk, Stoudamire etc. And he was really a 2000s player.
@@freddyes2242 yeah, he was our starting 5 for a while and wasn't too bad. Kinda played like Bucks-era Brook Lopez, but not quite a defensive juggernaut. If anyone was going to give him a chance to be his true basketball self though, it was Nellie.
10th overall pick, 73 total games. But at least he was ready for his transition and found success after the NBA.
I was shocked he didn't average 15ppg for his career.
You should do Chamique Holdsclaw next🏀
You Should do Todd Day
What stunted Marshall Henderson growth?
Do Ralph Sampson! Original switchblade big and could’ve took over the league with Hakeem. The first twin towers and beat the Magic lakers. He was a victim too injuries
Need one for Dorrell Wright.
And Kevin Martin
Leuzinger alumni 😮 had a lot of talent
Luke was solid in College his senior Year stats were epic, left handed with a burner. never knew he had back issues
I like how you keep Fred Jones in memory in this video 💪🏾
"square game" took me out 😂
Lol yeah he ain't wrong tho
"black players have natural deficiencies" bro what
He had a torch at Oregon tho..I remember watching him as a kid
Bruh imagine if the cavs drafted Al Jefferson? Who knows maybe that decision would’ve been so good that bron would’ve stayed.
Thank you man . Never heard about this man before. God bless
Never knew that I needed to know about Luke Jackson...
Wayne Simien and Kevin Pittsnogle needs a stunted growth
Tim Thomas, Bonzie Ells, Ben Gordon, Hedo Turkoglo, Ron Artest, Lamar Odom, could be other suggestions for an episode of stunted growth. Brian Grant also
I love this one. Luke was the truth. He was going to be a poor man's Klay Thompson.
Great shooter and quality defender
This is why I disagree with the "square" analogy. Luke had game, I think just saying injuries is enough to accurately describe what happened to him.
I was there back then, no one thought this guy was anywhere near Scottie Pipen.
I'm tryna figure out who said he was even NEAR scottie pippen😂😂
I guess this is another way to say LeBron traded a player
I legit don't remember this dude at all
I was waiting on someone to bring him up. WITH THE 10th PICK!!!!
The intro nearly brought a tear to my eye
You could do stunted growth for Fred Jones and Luke Riddonaour. Also what's the background music for this channel. It's amazing
I figured Luke Ridnour did plenty in the league, given how he was regarded against his HS class (Taliek Brown, Omar Cook, Andre Barrett). Travis Diener would be an interesting pick up.
Was Cleveland first pick I think after Bron in 04..was cold at Oregon wit Aaron Brooks..
Can u do Khalid Reeves? He is quite a basketba player in college
I remember him from Slam Magazine 😂he was suppose to be good. Forgot all about him
I hate when everyone says Bron is weak for leaving have u seen what he was surrounded with.
To be fair, it took
Many years for jordan to have great teams around him or to win a ring. He lost a lot and they eventually built a great team around him.
Bro I Love the Content... Glad you making 2023 videos. Them Jawns from 2 years ago, i watched to much. Keep shit up bro 💯💯💯
Most random video you've made must be a personal friend
Crazy I was just on Wikipedia’s yesterday looking him up. I remember him in college
Completely unrelated but, y’all ever notice how differently players speak today compared to how they spoke in the 90s for example? They did interviews like they were afraid of words in the 90s lmao
True proper speech, is gone. Now it's barely understandable. Sad really.
I asked you to talk about this dude I’m so hyped.
You do great work!!! Antonio McDyess next!!!!
Biggest stunt - Fractured knee cap with the cursed Knicks.
I like that “square game” analogy, v accurate and somethin I’ve had to unlearn post high school
More like “why Evan Peters was out the league by 26”
Never heard of dude!!! But I see he had some nice stats!!! 20+ pts, good shooting percentages 2s and 3s!!!
Looking at that draft.. Cavs should have drafted JR Smith
Never heard that square game critique but it makes a lot of sense, keep up the good work!
Me too. It's a good way to describe white players who lack dynamics. it's basic as hell and predictable.
Now we talking 🔥
Drafting Josh Smith to be LeBron's Pippen would've been scary
Could you imagine a team with Jason Kidd, josh smith, Lamar Odom, Boris diaw, kirelinko, marion or what ever center you can find back then that was versatile on the same team? That would have been scary. None of them are true scorers or can get a shot on their own as much as you would need except for Odom who might blossom under these teammates into a star he could have been.
Can you please do Raymond Lewis from Los Angeles, CA who was drafted y Philly?
So inspirational
Dajaun Wagner needs a video if not done already
Injuries took him out but not sure if he would have been better than Wally
I'm positive he would've been better than Wally. I remember pre injury Like and he had a very good all around game, kinda like a Diet Larry Bird. He wasn't just a "big body scorer" or "square." He just got hurt and never recovered.
Maybe you right. I thought he was better but I just always compared the 2 because of skin tone. But Luke was shifty and better than Wally. Talent wise in my book.
We need Luke ridnour. Dude was a beast in Oregon and the next Nash as a sonic. Crazy handling skills.
Awesome channel 💯 Have you done a story on Sacramento Kings
Thomas Robinson? ✊🏾❤️
This reminded me of Adam Morrison from Gonzaga. You done that 1 yet?
I believe he did. Adam's segment is a part of this channel's Ultimate Bust series.
Adam Morrison, Jimmer, this guy, Doug McDermott man the media is just salivating to find the next Larry Bird ain't they
@@cjvaye99 😂 I like what u did there
@@TheyCallMeSledge o ok thanks cool
People wonder why bron left cavs could never hit on picks or get free agents
Another great Luke you should do is 3x NCAA All American Luke Harongody. Eric Maynor and Peyton Siva are good ones too
He already dud Peyton Siva
U should make a stunted growth on Lonzo. Its saddening its come to this point but its about time.😢
That 2004 draft was terrible. Two HOF’ers out the entire draft - Dwight Howard and Andre Iguodala
Do a series of all the players whose growth got stunted by playing with Lebron
Like who?
@@Eastsiderep40 An easy example would be Bosh
@@itachi019 was he stunted or did he have to take a back seat to two players both more skilled and talented than him who both lead their respective teams to multiple playoffs and NBA finals before they even teamed up.
@@Eastsiderep40 Nawl, Bosh was equally skilled. If he wasn't then they wouldn't have wanted him. He was a 3 level scorer with size and touch and they relegated his role to mostly spot up shooting because the other 2 "better" players couldn't spread the floor as well outside the mid-range
@@itachi019 equally as skilled as who? Lol
Please do a Andrew Bynum or Ben Gordon
Already Did both I think
the thumbnail, for a second I thought it was Evan Peters who played Jeffrey Dahmer lol
I thought it was Micheals nephew from The Office
Now I'm wondering who the best "square game player" is in modern NBA history. I say modern because way back in the day you weren't even allowed to dribble at an angle so everyone was forced to play "square".
SAY COULD YOU DO A VIDEO ON DARRICK MARTIN (UCLA POINT GUARD (1989-92)👍🏾✌🏾😎😁
Can you please do Bobby ray parks Jr.
Why he look like buddy who played dahmer 🤣🤣🤣 Peters I think lol
can you do a video of JOHNY JUZANG of UCLA next time 🙂
I’m hoping he can get a shot he’s been ballin in the G league
Nobody! I mean nobody said this dude was gonna be Scottie Pippen!
2k please put him on myteam
Dion Waiters
Even JJ transitioned his game. Can’t be square is a 10009% true thing
Haven’t heard of him
Try to find his college highlights on UA-cam. Luke wasn’t bad.
Mario Hezjona
We need Ben Gordon
Very❤
Damn Larry bird, and that “squared game”. Horrible.
Melvin Levett the helicopter
Darius Miles
Can you do a Stunted Growth on Anthony Reberson from 2004 Florida Gators Team
You reading my mind bro. Cut it out. I was just watching old Lebron videos and wondering what happened to dude… bron came back to the huddle and didn’t even dap this dude left him hanging.
Its better to have players that don't need the ball and can do other things besides score playing next to LeBron. Luke Jackson couldn't do anything else besides score and like you said he wasn't going to get the touches necessary since LeBron had the ball in his hands a lot.
LeBron’s Scottie Pippen is crazzy 😂
Oregon's ridnour and jackson
Detlef Schrempf?-
I always wondered why there was so much hype about him, he was overrated
Portland, Cleveland and Minnesota are the worst drafting teams ever In that order
Yeah he definitely would've been better with the jazz or possibly the raptors. VC was about to be traded that 2004 season anyways. Him and Chris Bosh would've been nice. But of course, the raptors fucked up that pick 🤣🤣🤣🤣
NBA 2k5
Lebron has been surrounded by inury prone superstars since the beginning lol he has rarely had pippen like durable co-stars and it shows with his losses.
Eric Bledsoe next my brother !!!
Kevin Love = Luke Jackson 2.0
Dude, Kevin Love is a Hall of Famer. I know his production has dipped in recent years, but he still going to get in.
@@mistermann3225 by 2.0 I meant the vastly improved Luke Jackson. What we thought Luke could be
@@thequintanashow5058 got you...
More like Jordans Brad Sellers. But career wasnt as good.
Repent from your sins and live for Jesus Christ ❤😊
Everyone sent to help LeBron gets kneecapped.
Bron didn’t need a Scottie. He needed a MJ 😂
Come on man, you know Bron is an alpha. Lol. But tbh, if Luke could have stayed healthy, he would have been a good complimentary player to LeBron.
@@thehawk5141 He’s always had alpha talent and production of course but he didn’t have a alpha mentality until MIA.
LeBron is Scottie Pippen.
Uh what luke jackson was supposed to be pippen? Gtfo.
I like how you breakdown how white players train differently than black players. I think culture has a big impact on many people that includes different races. Right or wrong it was very fascinating to hear you give a theory as to why. I think black players have more to lose and have to try and be original and take risks, practice new stuff to make it and it shows in their music, acting, certain sports. At least it’s a possibility of why.
Still think it was dumb for the cavs to do that when they had LBJ already, I get that he played SG in year 1 but he was SF going forward. Idk why they didn't take a big man
Al Jefferson and Josh smith was 15 n 16 pick cavs should had went with them
They already had ilgauskas no need for a big man
@@Ihatesports420 Z a 7’3 center , Jefferson 6’10 easily could’ve been PF and Smith is already at the 4
@@Ihatesports420 he was 29 I would had Jefferson as his backup until he was ready or put him at 4
@@Ihatesports420 except Big Z wasn’t a guy who could play that long, also you really look at Big Z and say to yourself “yea that’s the best I can do”
The "square" thing isn't really a "white" thing, more so a college system player thing. Any player who's primarily a spot up shooter fits that role typically. Whether that be someone like Corver or someone like Trevor Ariza, compared to a dynamic player like Luka or Harden. I'm not offended, I just disagree.
In basketball convos there's a difference when you're talking about white American players and european players.
@@tbd7898 no there isn’t 🤣 what
@@Ihatesports420 there actually is though. When people talk about a Great White Hope in the NBA, they want a white American to be great in the league.
Do one for Ronnie brewer
