    Dissection Tools at 17:20 might have been enough for opponent to stabilize but they needed to sac either the manifest or the tapped Cryptid Inspector to get a big lifelink hit in right away and go up to 11.

    36:30 if you click on 'view battlefield' in the top right corner after the game ends (before clicking away) you do get to see what face down cards are

    Arena: "How much fixing you want to draft?"
    LSV: "Yes!"

    Just in case you already don't know this: you can switch off the TVs. (I remember you complaining about it previously)

      Not completely. They do this weird flashing red thing for certain events in-game and that goes off whether the TVs are on or off.

    Always great to see premier sets! I'm glad for the people that have fun with cube (LSV included!), but it's not so much my jam.

    Not loving this set, last one was nice but really really wanted this one to give some more good control tools (not like the last set did either but Beza/Caretaker's gave us something at least). I remember when we got Supreme Verdict, Azorius Charm, Detention Sphere, a Jace that would likely still see play today, AND Sphinx's Revelation all in the same set! Basically a full control deck printed in a single set. Now we can't even get a 4 mana wrath unless it has a downside. That's the last time I played seriously (during Return to Ravnica). I played for a bit but only online when big Teferi, 3feri, and Narset were around and we had good enough mana to play 3 colors to dip into black for it's removal but even then the Esper Hero version was still more widely played than the Esper Control version.
    And of course cavern of souls exists so even though they gave us mana leak (which honestly isn't even that good anymore) cavern just hoses us and you really need a third color right now so good luck trying to play more than 1 or 2 copies of demolition field (especially when you basically HAVE to play fountainport).
    Maybe if they pushed Ral more by making it's -3 something like "Draw 3 cards then discard 2 cards unless you discard a land card" or -2 "surveil/scry 2 then draw a card" and if cavern wasn't around.
    Sorry for the long somewhat off topic post LSV, you are my favorite MTG youtuber by *far* so I felt like writing this up when I saw this video posted. I just think that because there are *always* multiple good tier 1 midrange decks and aggro decks every single rotation that there should also be at least one good tier 1 control deck every rotation. I mean aggro, midrange, and control are the 3 big archetypes of the game (with combo existing as the sort of weird friend in the group) and control just isn't treated like that anymore which sucks for someone like me who only enjoys playing control and would love to play MTG more seriously if control were better. I don't even think literal counterspell would be too good to print in standard, nor do I think wrath of god or supreme verdict would be.
    Anyways love your videos (especially your vintage cube drafts as that's like the only type of MTG I play regularly when it's available simply because I can force control every time and at least sometimes end up with a powerful and fun to play control deck lol).

    Really like you picking all these fixing lands over mediocre draft chuffs. You usually end up with enough playables and those lands just smooth out your mana.
    On another note I wouldve probably picked the beastie beatdown as P2P1 and either gone Simic splash red or Gruul splash blue, so far those pairing have worked the best for me and look strong.

    I know you will disagree but the cathartic parting seems like a sb card. In a regular match it seems like 1 for 1ing a room that got value or a creature that turns into an enchantment anyways makes it a liability. But i thoroughly enjoyed this vid and it's still too early to know who is right on this one.

    Just curious, as I'm trying to learn. Why is Baseball Bat such a high pick but Thunder Lasso almost never made a deck?

    • @TheI99joda
      @TheI99joda 3 місяці тому +1

      I don't think baseball bat is a super high pick actually. Really bad win percentage on 17 lands (still very early, I know).

    • @AlanMalloy
      @AlanMalloy 3 місяці тому

      Thunder Lasso costs more, and Baseball Bat is in GW, which this set has cards that want to be tapped. So if tapping their thing isn't necessary to get in a good attack, you also have the option of tapping your own summoning-sick creature to get its Survival trigger.

    • @WiseGuy57
      @WiseGuy57 3 місяці тому

      Yeah, Zimone is sort of an awkward splash, because if you draw it after you play your 7th land, there's a sizable gap to 11.

    • @shadowphoenixxx
      @shadowphoenixxx 3 місяці тому +2

      @@WiseGuy57 I think once you got the second creature out of Zimone, everything else is gravy. A 3 drop that makes a 3/3, a 5/5 and potentially a 7/7 more or less for just continueing to play the game seems deece to me, no need to bring out the Merseinne Prime table methinks
