1986 GURO DAN INOSANTO KALI demonstration in Birmingham, England, assisted by Burton Richardson. This was a huge show which included Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, Cynthia Rothrock, George Chung, Eric Lee, Ted and Baron Tabura, and Tadashi Yamashita.
Sumbrada with the machetes, and some sinawalli drilling is shown here. We also did an empty hand section, as well as some long range sparring where I had a knife and Guro Inosanto had a bull whip! It was something to see, especially from my point of view. Thank you Guro for not killing me that evening!

I never forget the seminar i visited, done by Guro Inosanto. What a guy. And such a real handsome and nice person, not "Icon, Star or Idol".

@SuperSeonghoon From a fighting perspective, sinawalli is very good for coordination, body mechanics, and conditioning. Hubad does not relate well to actual fighting in most instances. There are applications with the sword when the fight slows down due to the blades binding.

@SuperSeonghoon The structure is good, but it is very difficult to do a lot of taps against an attacker going all out. You need to block (tap) HARD, then get hold of the attacker's knife arm as soon as possible. Try it out for your self. Proper equipment, done safely. You will find it very interesting.

The only drill that was actually set was the double stick drill. All the other was drilling, but there was no set pattern to be followed.

Good comment. Agreed, as long as the practitioner has plenty of sparring time to develop proper timing. Then yes, such fights are very short.

@XiaoLinLong Bruce Lee's quote that he put around his JKD symbol read, "Using no way as way, having no limitation as limitation." That means that you cannot limit yourself to one or a even a few styles. Always be open to a better, more effective way.

Because its a demonstration. But if you do actually look at sparing with Kali it looks very similar, because once you get it you just learn to flow with the sticks, knifes, ect. And thus it looks unreal. But I can assure you what would happen in a real fight is only one or two of these strikes with a knife, or only a flurry of moves unarmed. Then pretty much the fight doesn't last a whole lot longer..

representing the Philippines because he probably chose to represent the Philippines. Why? He's full filipino, although he was born in california, his parents are filipino, he probably has dual citizenship of us and philippines, his color is filipino, his last name "inosanto" is filipino, the art that he's demonstrating here is filipino. heck everything about him is filipino except of course that he lives in CA.
    He's Filipino lol
