This song launched the entire dollar store sunglass rack movement. Prior to that it was Foster Grant's and towellettes. ZZ made it alright to wear disposable eyewear after dark.
I'm pretty sure that is the correct answer. Jam session sounds dope, somebody throw in some lyrics about a chick sporting fly jeans and a tight sweater!
ZZ Top 1 of my 5 favorite American bands along with The Doors/Lynyrd Skynyrd/CCR & Van Halen. I'm Bad I'm Nation Wide is my favorite ZZ Top song. Rock on Brad & Lex and don't forget Rhinestone shades are Cheap Sunglasses.
This song is a great song to listen to from vinyl. Hearing the tiny imperfections that come from the needle on the wax just adds to the vibe that this song puts out... Good stuff....
This album Degüello, and its predecessor Tejas, were in my mind a transition period for the Top from their Muddy Rio Grande Blues Rock in the early 70's to their polished commercial sound of the 80's. They had a very unique sound for the day. Cheap Sunglasses spawned a craze when the song came out causing everyone to look like discount Elton Johns. lol
ZZ Top's Eliminator album is good, but anything they did before is better, and their Deguello, (Cheap Sunglasses), is no exception. Just good ol' Texas blues at it's finest.
This is the ZZ Top I love, it's a groove kind of a song, or a strut. This is the stuff that opens the door for King Edward and VH to follow through with songs like Beautiful Girls, Sinner's Swing, and Hot for Teacher.
Lex has the best “stank” face when she’s bopping along to a song like this!! Great reaction!! Not sure about the “keys vibe” but whatever Lex feels…we get!!
She makes that face cause her upper lip be emitting an odor an she kinda like the smell of it. So she make the “stank” face she get a closer whiff of whatever’s stank on her upper lip.
"I Thank You" is from the same album. As the creeper vibe, I think what he's saying is they were at a club all night and he kept seeing this one gal who was wearing cheap sunglasses ... and he thought the glasses were cool.
Cheap sunglasses they bought on the gas stations or little stores along the road during touring, staying up long and being a little hung over the next day. Cheap sunglasses became a lifestyle.
@@acemodez3169 Your response was to my point that he wasn't being a creeper. I'm not saying you're wrong, I was just returning to my point, which evidently you forgot.

You might indeed see someone in one club,.. then go to a different one, and she showed up there .So, you might go to another one to find her if she left. "Following someone around",.. pre overboard, over paranoid' wokeness'( not that there is a level of woke that isn't necessary..),-it wasn't considered creapy to do such a thing. It was "normal". I absolutely love ZZ’s 70s stuff best. I also like the El Loco album from 1981. In 1983, during the height of MTV, they got electronic, with a more modern sound. It’s great, don’t get me wrong, but I love this period best.
"I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide" ... spectacular lyrics. "Well, I've been rollin' down the road in some cold blue steel; I had a blues man in the back and a beautician at the wheel... I had a fine, fancy broad; I had 3 more in the back. With my New York brim and my gold tooth display, nobody gives me trouble 'cause they know I got it made." That little ol' band from Texas is one of the best you'll ever hear. "A Fool For Your Stockings" is another banger!
Brad & Lex, when I saw the pic they used for the lyric video, it reminded me of a cool story regarding the origin of the "spiky" fabric hat that Billy Gibbons is wearing (the guy in the middle). Billy had taken a trip to Cameroon in Africa and he went to visit the Bamileke tribe. He was wearing a Texas cowboy hat and just as the chief was about to come out, someone said that he should give the cowboy hat to the chief, to which he responded "No, wait a minute. Chief, I'm from Texas. We do a little horse trading on these matters", so Billy gave the chief the cowboy hat and he got a traditional hand-made Bamileke hat, which are normally only worn by prestigious members of the community.
Love the way you linked it to Sharp Dressed Man, Brad. That was cool. In my college years, I can definitely remember hearing this song after getting up one morning (afternoon, really) very hung over. My buddy and I rocking to it as we ventured out into the sunshine for some food, wearing our cheap sunglasses.
Brad has a point about how women might not appreciate a guy following them all night, but if any guys can get away with it, it's ZZ Top. I saw them perform on TV once where fans in the audience got to request songs. One woman asked for a certain song, because she said she "got pregnant to it." How many bands hear that?
The 80s pop version of ZZ with the synths and all was still pretty cool for what it was, but I much prefer this earlier ZZ, when they were a "little ol' band from Texas" playing some nasty, bluesy, Texas boogie rock.
If you prefer the 70s zz top you should listen to the later stuff after their 80s commercial period Funky dirty fuzzy blues Went back to their roots Antenna Rythmeen XXX Mescularo Smoking hot music you'd enjoy
Oh yeah, I've heard it. I still like the 70s stuff best, maybe partly nostalgia. But I do really dig the later stuff too. Definitely some cool stuff. Funky dirty fuzzy is a good description.

The little three man blues band from Texas ,, I'm Bad I'm Nation Wide ,,,, their earlier stuff did jam more , to me in the mid 80s they got more of a radio thing going , but not all their stuff , some still won't be played on the radio . There is a lot of ZZ TOP to check out , keep jammin !!!!
Deguello, Tres Hombres, Fandango, Rio Grande Mud, 1st Album, Tejas, and Loco did a lot of road trips in high school and college here in Texas. A class mate who was a radio DJ (Dana Steele) here in Houston dubbed them as the “Home Team”. RIP Dusty
This is early ZZ Topp from about 1974, I think. Talk about a Blues/Funk Band...These Boys from Texas were it. Love Billy Gibbons guitar work, and Dusty's smooth Bass.

In this episode of Brad & Lex, "What?" shouted a shockingly interested Lex next to a a very hip and chill Brad as she gladly places herself in the groove and comfortably circums to circumstances of circling instruments surrounding her circumference. Brad seems to audition each sound as they are introduced, offering his energy in "sway" form briefly halting for Lex's seemingly perplexing input in exchange for his before she provides her "single handed drum bop" and piano hands to us before describing the 1979 greatest hit collection track as having an "adult vibe".
When Jimi Hendrix was still alive, when asked one of the times who his favorite guitarist was, he said Billy Gibbons, the guitarist and lead singer for ZZ Top.
I had a Brad-type frown during the key ring analogy. Frank Beard's drumming on this is killer. And Dusty's bass. And Billy's guitar. Their musicality is just up there. Like that funky slowdown at the end was stunning. Billy was throwing in splashes of different colours with the notes he was adding, like the occasional single note to his chopping. Yeah

Lex always has some interesting takes on the vibe of songs.
Interesting to the point that it's more entertaining than SNL! Seriously, think "SNL" and listen to these analogies... this girl is hilarious!
The meaning of this song is "We need some kind of lyrics to have an excuse to jam to this funky tune for 5 minutes". And it worked just fine.
I'm pretty sure that is the correct answer. Jam session sounds dope, somebody throw in some lyrics about a chick sporting fly jeans and a tight sweater!
Lol, pretty much all their music is like that, the jam breaks in the middle of their songs really come out in concerts. They just play a song forever
Good call ... not every song has to have deep meaning but a groove 😎
Cool lyrics that make you feel alright alright alright
ZZ Top is simply the epitome of "Cool" !

It's her own little inside joke. 🤣
Fun fact: The song was sang by Billy Gibbons, the guitar player, except for the "Oh Yeah!" lines, which were the late, great bassist Dusty Hill.
I was waiting for that first guitar interlude/solo to hit Lex..never disappoints.
