This is definitely one of my favourite zones in wow. Shadowmoon valley will always have a special place in my heart. Did not played wod as I started in Legion, but I definitely loved my garrison and spent a lot of time there to collect mounts and craft some transmogs. Also the music is one of the most beautiful pieces in the game. Whenever I listen to it, it reminds me of the days I would spend in Smv, waiting for the voidtalon portal to spawn ( which is my favourite ground mount ever ) . Luckily I got it after a few weeks, and I still use it even after almost 1 year ever since I got it
Feel the same about BfA. The art, zones, leveling, quests, music, etc. were very enjoyable. People get caught up in all the endgame mechanics as if that is the only thing that matters.
Nobody ever blamed the art team (both visualy and musicaly), they always make great things, and there are one of the reason why WoW is / was so good. But it's a video Game guys, so gameplay matters as much as art.
@@thedarckiller Aye. I would argue more so! It's a shame really. I see this stuff, I hear it, I want to be there.. but sadly, game play is the very thing that puts me off, that and the micro-nonsense that's flooded the game. At least I get some snippet of the good via this channel, eh? :)
@@thedarckiller Nothing was wrong with the gameplay really either. it was just two things - people wanted player housing and got the garrison instead, and they cut the expansion short and didn't finish it.
Everything in the Shadowmoon Valley was magic. From the first pond near the garrison across the main road, down to the farthest end, where Botani had their base. Absolutely magnificent.
I remember coming from MoP which I absolutely fell in love with, and wondering if WoD would be as soulful. Then I was presented with shadow moon valley ( alliance ) with the art team just showing off like they hadn’t done prior and and the ethereal, anachronism of a sound track; and I knew this was going to be the greatest expansion. ...........
Man, this game is just so beautiful. I'd take this anytime against a super realistic approach. If i want to see realism, i'd go outside. These are worlds beyond reality...
I cannot believe my mom plays this game without the sound on. Not one sound is enabled. I sometimes sit in a zone and zone out just listen to the music and watch the scenery. It is great with anxiety/panic attacks/depression.
I can not thank enough to Blizzard for showing us the Original ShadowMoon Valley. I quested there in TBC expansion (years later ^^) and something was always amiss. Nowadays I listen to World of Warcraft Soundtrack while traveling and studying etc. World of Warcraft was an addiction back in the Day. Now, it is one of my allies for pursuits ahead, with it's atmospheric sounds and memories of my Youth.
It had at this stage all to do with Elune, until they retconed her to be the Winter Queen chaotic sister. Elune was meant to be the creator of everything. Above the Titans, the First Ones and even the Void Lords. There was a lot of Hyjal and Ardenweald on this area. No wonder it was where both Legion and the Void were first made present on this planet. Then with the retcon this stopped making any sense.
Illidan probably saw a postcard that was 20 years old and thought "yeah that's the place I wanna make my exile at" but he was too proud to admit defeat next to Kael'thas and Vashj.
This game was my second home for so many years and my escape from bullying and other problems in my life. Now I feel like it's just rushing to max level as soon as possible so you don't fall behind in the endless ap/azerith/whatever is current grind, and pushing Raider.io scores or you get excluded from half of the gameplay. Making friends has become so difficult too. Shadowlands is now the first expansion I don't play, cause the last one was exhausting. Wish I could go back.
This is without a doubt one of the best expansions in terms of zone beauty and vibes. Without a doubt. So sad they ruined endgame and gearing but the zones were absolutely fantastic.
I don’t care what people say but I’ve enjoyed every single wow expansion as a person who likes to be alone, the garrison was amazing and so every single zone, ( tho didn’t spent that much time in gorgrond 😅) sadly I haven’t played BFA (no pc to play) but I bet I would enjoy the music and zones as well
I remember riding around shadowmoon valley just to catch the music of ethereal embers E in your list. Hauntingly beautiful and its one of the things that always stood out in WoW for me was the area music. I will never forget where I started..... A little gnome warlock named Tidbits on Antonidas and I have carried that name for years into where I am currently playing in FFXIV. TY for the memories.
Agreed. When they did that April fools prank of destroying our garrisons I was not happy. Especially for my mage who worked hard to get his very own mage tower.

Your stuff is great lad, really most of the music I listen now are your videos! Have you maybe considered making some videos with Gothic game series? That'd be amazing!
Thank you! Considered is probably too strong a word, but thought about it, sure. It was suggested a couple of times already, and I'm looking forward to covering a number of older games. Can't promise anything, but it does sound like a very nice idea. I've missed the first Gothic, but I remember the second and even the third game quite fondly. :)
Shame that the expansion was so lacking in many areas. It had good class design from mop, good raids and pretty good environment and music but that's about it. Everything else beyond raiding? Laaaacking.
Lotta people hated WoD, but honestly it's the best expansion since Wrath of the Lich King, with the exception of MoP. Cataclysm was pretty mediocre. Legion was the worst I've ever seen WoW, as it was just god awful. BFA didnt hold my interest either. I quit about 6 months in. WoD had THE best questing EVER put into the game, some of the BEST raids and dungeons, and some of the best looking zones and best music ever in WoW. The reason so many people cried was because of the Garrisons (which I liked), acting as if they couldn't just leave and go do anything else in the entire game, and the lack of content, which to me just means more time for alts. As an alt lover, I can't say there was ever a more alt friendly expansion than WoD. There was a content drought but they definitely caught you up later in the expansion. WoD is called the worst expansion when really it wasn't at all. It was one of the most unique and one of the best. The worst by far was Legion.

The constant abuse of the environment from the orcs of the Iron Forge, the Burning Crusade, and Illidan Stormrage led the region to what it is now in BC.
@@the_furry_inside_your_walls639 You could say that this is actually what is happening in the real world. We humans butchering our very own soil. I hope some day us humans get to see our consequences.
This zone's music so, so perfectly captures that subtle alien feeling that should accompany a different world. Burning Crusade's Outland was more ambient, and didn't treat the landscape as a character in its own right. This is otherworldly. You can imagine how a place like this would give rise to the mystic shamanism of the Shadowmoon Clan, or offer a new sense of home to the displaced refugees of Argus.
Shadowmoon Valley and Spires of Arak were my favorite zones in WoD, for sure, and it was awesome coming across Fiona and her posse in this region. Her questline was the thing I loved the most about Eastern Plaguelands.
