Man.. Mikhail Tal games are my favourite! From a time when Chess wasn't yet perfected by learning all the lines like a computer and geniuses like Tal or Fischer used their magic :)
Happy 16th, cher Monsieur Jerry. In th 60s, I studied Tal in the descriptive notation. QN-Q2 B-N2, N-K4 Q-B4, BxQP Q-R4, N-B6 ch PxN, PxP R-N1. All those books kept in closed containers. I enjoyed the good years over the chess board. Now, my brain cells are being moved in awkward fashion which will lead a disposable humble pawn to its rational path.
before the game, Tal and Bobotsov played several blitz games, Tal sacrified his Queen in the same position and won. Bobotsov said this was good only for blitz, so he was surprised when Tal sacrified his queen in this long game.
the fact that that queen sacrifice for the two minor pieces is sound is so impressive. Tal was a little bit crazy in the best way imaginable. I always thought he won through pure intimidation and brilliant calculation in unsound but complex positions, and that is true but a lot of the crazy positions he puts up were not even unsound, just unthinkable for a lesser player to go for. He was an extremely accurate player when you analyze his games with modern engines, one of the most accurate in fact, the 8th most accurate of all time according to chesscoms analysis of world champions.
Interesting to note just how many positionally motivated queen sacrifices happen in the King’s Indian, Bronstein’s sac in the Saemisch, Kasparov’s sac in the Petrosian, and Nezhmetdinov’s brilliant sac against Chernikov just to name a few
Amazing game! I truly believe that Tal in his prime is unbeatable in any era. I play the KID and the Samish is rather annoying. Thank you for this wonderful analysis! Cheers!
As a young chess player at my school chess club in UK, Michail Tal was my hero of the chess world - so nice to see his games again and this one with queen sacrifice is so typical of his ability to see opportunities other players would not. Solid defence gives the springboard.
Sound sacrifice? The creak of snow before an avalanche. Games like this show Tal did not have a logic burner. His continuation is relentless. Thanx Jerry.
Thank you, what a move. Only Tal. Who else would have moved the Q back to d8? Who would give up the Q for two pieces and go on to crush their opponent. Tal!
I think it's a bit sad that people stopped playing the samisch the way it was meant to be played and just make it extremely boring. I remember my games as black in the samisch were always extremely fun to play with amazing sacrifices and crazy sharp play
9:00 Jerry says the best move for White is *18.Ne2* , but that seems to allow the tactic *18...Bb2!?* after which *19.Kb2* loses the queen to *19...Nc4+* .
Jerry after Nxd5 what if white just played cxd5? It looks like this keeps the b-file closed, and if Qxd2 Rxd2 the endgame is good for white because if black pushes c4, there’s a huge pawn mass in the center, and if cxd4 then Nxd4 and c6 square is a big hole for black (which wasn’t availible before Kb1 b5 was played)
Hey Jerry, this was as ever great stuff. Tal was just so attractive. And of course so much more subtle than just crashing attacks. Thanks as ever. I got two messages today saying I should text you on telegram since I had won a give away. I did not fall for the scam, but maybe you could warn folks against this.keep up the good work.
I am so glad one of our chess geniuses played against Tal. Now I really know he is one of the best, if he managed to take one of our men into a deep dark forest🙂
Tal of the tape
Happy New Year all.
Thank you for your continued support of this channel which will be celebrating its 16th birthday this year. ♥

Happy sweet 16!!! Which month?
evyerone has a birthday this year
Thank YOU, Jerry.
Thanks Jerry!
That dark square bishop is possibly the strongest fianchettoed bishop Ive ever seen
Tal sacks his queen, still gets a 95% accuracy. Very fun game and I loved the commentary; what a guy that knight was :)
This is a famous game, analized before with quite a backstory behind it. Amazing stuff from Tal
Man.. Mikhail Tal games are my favourite! From a time when Chess wasn't yet perfected by learning all the lines like a computer and geniuses like Tal or Fischer used their magic :)
Love the coverage of these classic games!
Oh good a Tal game.
Now to sack my own pieces and discover there wasn't actually anything there!
Thank you for the commentary, Jerry !! Tal played fearlessly in so many of his games !!!
Fantastic analysis as always Jerry! Such a cool game.

Brilliance of the brilliant. Thanks for making it available.
Beautiful instructive game. Would love to see more of these to improve my chess principles!
Be hard to do that from following Tal’s moves he makes moves others won’t but he had amazing success
That sacrifice is crazy. Great game. I'm sure 99% of players would just return the queen to D8
The play was just Brilliant after sacrificing the Queen to keep the Knight Tal is such a Smart player and very Creative
Love these classic game breakdowns. Thanks for posting and happy new year!
Yes, I watch your videos again and again
Thanks Jerry! Tal's games are magical, and your commentary is great.

One of Tal's Amazing works of art !!! He makes it look so simple !!

Congrats Jerry, you're so close to 500k subs, buddy, best of luck.
Amazing game! I truly believe that Tal in his prime is unbeatable in any era. I play the KID and the Samish is rather annoying. Thank you for this wonderful analysis! Cheers!
You do an awesome job man
Thank you 👍
Thanks Jerry.
what a brilliant game, thanks Jerry. I looked at the queen sack, but I didn't see the compensation, incredible
Christmas came quite early this year 🙈🙈🙈
Thanks for a Tal game (:
Happy new year as well for you as well.
Cheers 🍾
Wonderful analysis!

Man, My interest in chess increased just because of you❤️ I just love watching these videos. But why did you stop making Magnus' arena games..??
Holy shit what an amazing game! Mikhail was a genius.
what a guy, the knight
😎
what a beautiful game
👍
Loving the content
b2 is collapsing and so is White’s Game 😅 pretty much summed it up
Thanks jerry, i am the dragon player and really enjoing this game
Sound sacrifice? The creak of snow before an avalanche. Games like this show Tal did not have a logic burner. His continuation is relentless. Thanx Jerry.
Geez. He was something
Please don‘t stop posting.
Tal is the best player ever existed because he was producing spectacle games, not titles...
Thank you, what a move. Only Tal. Who else would have moved the Q back to d8? Who would give up the Q for two pieces and go on to crush their opponent. Tal!
Beautiful
Super interesting video!
What a guy! He can even sacrifice the king but win anyway
only Chuck Norris can do that
Why was Mikhail Tal known as the "Magician of Riga"?
Because he always had a trick up his sleeve... or a rook up his rook!
Monster.
I think it's a bit sad that people stopped playing the samisch the way it was meant to be played and just make it extremely boring. I remember my games as black in the samisch were always extremely fun to play with amazing sacrifices and crazy sharp play

The Magician from Riga working his magic. XD
Tal was a real genius. Tal played like Alphazero
What I learned from this is you should never offer a knight a spoon, always a fork.
🙄 Nothing worse than cheesy UA-cam comments.
Keep the tension is a chess princip
Hey Jerry, just curious bro what is your elo rating?
Dude you should consider changing the channel name to "Chess ASMR" :)
Tal 💪🏾
magician from riga 😊

KID Samisch with Tal as black? Let’s gooooooo
@chessnetwork Jerry you have a scammer
Another KID game?! Amazing choice. Can you do some on the old Indian? It used to be my favorite defense
Hey Jerry, go browns.
I am so glad one of our chess geniuses played against Tal.
Now I really know he is one of the best, if he managed to take one of our men into a deep dark forest🙂
I dont feel right about the Rxc4 decision .. maybe he should have considered b3 or Nc3 to exchange it for the light squared bishop instead
then you are lost... just dropping the Queen and be 2 pieces down - but that idea was at least good enough for winning the giveaway, gg
Hello Jerry
it's everyone
I love me a good samisch. Crush the hell out of em.
DO A COLLAB WITH AGAD!
After going through a 100 Tal games, one is for sure, if you create weaknesses or mess around in the opening he will completely take you apart♟🔨
