Kasparov is too deep for Stockfish

- Featured is the game between Garry Kasparov and Vladimir Kramnik from the 1994 Novgorod Tournament. Starting from a Sicilian Sveshnikov, the players eventually reach an opposite sides castles position, where Kasparov launches an attack on Kramnik's kingside. The winning tactical combination executed by Kasparov is particularly aesthetic, rendering Stockfish unable to fully appreciate its depth. The engine used to produce the graph at the end of the video is Stockfish 15.1.

You start thinking you are pretty good and then you see this game. I'm gonna learn golf.
😂 yep, I've heard golf is Eeeeassy! 😅
Gotta some what agree. I'm gonna go learn bong
Golf, chess and sex: you don't have to be great at them to enjoy it.
@@jerrys5102sex is the best one
Seeing games like this motivate me to improve
Truly incredible calculation by Kasparov. Also weird that Kramnik fell for that Bd7+ trick in the end, but well...
I think the combination featuring the queen sac and forced queen promotion by Kasparov put Kramnik on a tilt. He couldn't calculate any more.
that tactical sequence was so wild it put Kramnik on tilt, making him blunder that deflection tactic
Excellent breakdown of an excellent game!
I don’t know what else to say. It was just a beautiful game. Thank you for finding these great materials. They’re entertaining and educational.
Jerry gives the best commentary on youtube. Slow enough that I can actually follow it
Wow what a deep high level game. Thank you Jerry, and your analyses of these games teach me so much.
👍😎
Love your calm pace, and slow instruction. Gives time to absorb, appreciate, and most importantly, enjoy.
One of the best coaches. Well done n thank you.
Thank you 👍
Great choice Jerry , thanks
your style of teaching is awesome. This is first video I saw and subscribed. Thanks for explaining several aspects of game in depth
Thank you 👍
This is excellent, Jerry! I'm so glad that you're back with top GMs games like these. From all the videos you make, those really are my favorite. I notice that you are very active these days and I'm always super eager to watch your next video! I've been watching your stuff for something that must be close to 15 years. Thanks you so much!
Great to read that. Connected since 2008ish… nice 👍😎
I'm beginning to think Kasparov may be better at chess than me.
Love your work Jerry😊
Me too
Hi all
Nice to know the computers still have something to learn.
Love your vids Jerry they are my oasis in this world of chaos
😊👍
Did Kramnik play Qf8 as a pseudo-resigner at the end just to honor Kasparov for that brilliant h5? I don‘t think he missed Bd7+…
As usual, excellent detailing of important factors in the game. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the compliment. 👍
I liked the way you represented the game. Thanks
Jerry, i like your determination. keep the faith
Saw Ng5 but not h5 lol awesome combination Garry was a monster 👍
18:09 That’s gotta be one of the snazziest sets of moves I’ve ever seen.
Going into that critical variation at the end just to win a pawn, must frankly have been INSANE pressure on Garry Kasparov. My man better is sure his calculations are right, but even then, you have shaky hands after h5!
Jerry is a legend. Your voice and tone are perfect for commentary. And obviously the chess knowledge doesn’t hurt either!
the pawn promotion to queen is simply beautiful, loved the video, thanks for the upload
Great play. Loved all the move sequences. Thanks for going over them all.
Damn Kasparov
A real beauty. Thank you Jerry for finding it and a wonderful synopsis!
Very well done and you made it exciting. Thank you.
incredible Kasparov, thank you for the video!
great commentary, with pleasant voice
👍
That was so freaking cool! I love the deflection tactic at the end! So many tricks in chess I haven't seen before even after decades of play.
Amazing voice tone and explanation the positions. Thank you
Brilliant game! It goes to show that Kasparov is willing to go through extreme measures to win and was usually at least 1-2 moves ahead of the competition. Thanks for the analysis!
What a game! Great explanations, thanks.
Sometimes it's called 'the forgotten immortal game'
Awesome game, thank you 😊
One of the best videos I’ve seen!! Congrats!!
Thank you 👍
You have an excellent chess channel, mate! Your calm, laid-back tone and the explanations' crystal-clear pace make it easy for us to follow the game.
Thank you 😎👍
Great stuff Jerry ty
Really enjoyed the instant replay of the combination.
Garry never recovered after getting that chessboard smashed over his head.
Great analysis! Thank you!
We love you Jerry ❤
True :-)
Really liked the early explanations on the decisions made in the opening.
There are probably 10 Chess Channels that I watch......
.. only 1 that I Love ❤️
Crazy finish, thank you!
Kasparov is the 🐐
Wesley So is like Bobby Fischer in a good way. Magnus is like Bobby Fischer in a bad way.
SAYNOTO2900 GODBLESSAMERICA
Bobby Fischer would agree with me.
Bobby Fischer would agree with me.
Bobby Fischer would agree with me.
We both are mentally unwell (I have ADHD-PH), hate chess & have many friends in the Philippines. Eugene Torre accepted my friend request.
Wesley So would be Bobby's favourite.

Why are Magnus and Garry compared to Bobby Fischer? Can you be valedictorian if you cheated in school?
- Garry Kasparov cheated Judit Polgar in the 1994 Linares.
- Magnus Carlsen cheated Alireza Firouzja (2019 blitz WCC), Danya Naroditsky (2021 & 2022 lichess) and Ian Nepomniachtchi (2021 WCC).
Wesley So is like Bobby Fischer in a good way:
W1 - Each 'is a prodigy, had a rather dark childhood and is American', but they have great moms. (This also applies Beth Harmon and Hans Niemann.)
W2 - Betrayed by their home country, they got citizenship elsewhere.
W3 - 1st American world champions: Bobby was 1st American-born WCC. Wesley So is 1st WC (and played for the US at the time but wasn't citizen until 1.5 years later).
W4 - Unjustifiably lose their world titles 3 years after gaining them because FIDE was favouring a European over them.
W5 - Hate chess and love 9LX.
W6 - Have a lot of friends from the Philippines including Eugene Torre and Lotis Key.
W7 - Met a corrupt president in the Philippines. Bobby met Philippine president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. Wesley So met NCFP president Prospero Pichay Jr.
W8 - Correctly accuse Tigran Petrosian of cheating.
Magnus is like Bobby Fischer in a bad way:
M1 - Ra()st against Americans & Jews (source: ZS4ZPF )
- M1.1 - (Bobby is kinda like Sergey Karjakin though: Has the 'right' to discriminate in the sense that they're born the nationality they're discriminating against. What's Magnus' 'right'? Magnus can discriminate only against Norwegians and maybe gentiles.)
M2 - Likes 9LX but never really played it
M3 - Is mentally unhealthy
M4 - Unrelated: European citizens of Nordic countries. Beat a Russian in their last WCC which was controversial: Magnus cheated Nepo, and Bobby resigned a game.

Cmon man.... nobody has even remotely come close to the dominance Fischer had over the 2nd best player in the world. With today's tools Fischer would eclipse 3000
@@richardbas7574 3000 in chess? Unlikely. 3000 in 9LX? YES ABSOLUTELY
Wow, epic Kasparov move, no wonder he was world champion for so long.
I'm going to remember this game
Same I memorized all the moves
And some people think chess is boring :)
Amazing. Thank you.
Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! Oops, wrong one.
WOW‼️ Amazing, brilliant game by Kasparov‼️
It's a beauty alright
Fantastic game..👌
Amazing Kasparov!!
So amazing and deep Sac ,such a beautiful ending
Amazing game
Awesome Analysis
Was für ein Spiel und klasse kommentiert.😊❤
Thank you 👍
Spectacular. Epic game. Thank you very much for your explanation.
I remembered the deflection. A typical win by the beast of Baku. Thanks Jerry.
Brilliant match.
No shade on Magnus, but there’s so much finesse in Kasparov’s moves, it’s like watching a flower bloom when it all unfolds
that's a wonderfully apt analogy. It really captures the sequence and co-ordination of the moves. Thanks
There is no way in the world Magnus plays a game like this or Kasparov vs Topalov 1999
@@williammillar2892I agree. The OP’s analogy is too good. I’d like to use that analogy too.
Garry, for me, is still the GOAT. These games were in the 90s. Explosive, yet so calculated. When he wins, he is significantly ahead of his opponent. Garry goes for the head. You only see these games on blitz and bullet nowadays, except that they’re intuitive, sceambled, and dubious. When he checkmates it’s like looking at the fireworks go still. When he goes for a winning endgame, you’re watching, you’re watching the falling debris of fireworks fall.
@@timperalta9430 I believe that's the influence of computer engines. I agree with everything you say too. The gap between Kasparov and the others was sooo great, bigger than ELO points. Straight for the throat!
hi Jerry. Great video! Always lovely to see some Kasparov swashbuckling. I have a content request. Yesterday you crushed me while streaming on twitch with the e6 Sicilian. I think the e6 Sicilian is really hard to play against for someone of my level (~1700 fide). Would you consider covering a game in this opening where you go over some of these lines? I always appreciate the little side lessons you sprinkle into your analysis videos, such as looking briefly at the 12...Bg5 line in this video.
The calculation for this is amazing.
Great disassembly of a chess game😊
Actually, my Computer (and Stockfish 15) does NOT evaluate the position 0.0 after Rd6 at 16:00 - it evaluates it +4.53 for white, a clear win!
Excellent commentary. I always look forward to your insight, and you don't talk politics like Finegold sometimes does and he curses too.
So many brilliant ideas in just ONE game?! 😮
Ivanchuk called this the best game that he knows.....what a calculating monster Kasparov was....
Amazing. I don’t always hear Ivanchuk speak highly of Garry. I’m interested to hear this that you’re referring. I’m just really curious because Ivanchuk is… Ivanchuk.
Heh. I came up with the rook pawn move, but sure didn't see Kasparov's continuation.😅
Thanks, Jerry!
Magnificent
That is why I call him the best chess player in chess history
Great game!
Really i enjoyed this game
Very interesting
Kasparov's games are way too complicated for me man, even the engines have difficulties understanding his game let alone a mere mortal like me
Fantastic
Really wonderfull❤
Got curious so I checked with Nibbler on my laptop:
Stockfish 15.1 evaluates Rd6 as '99.9% winning rate' instantly.
Leela v0.29.0 (running on a pretty strong GPU) does have trouble with the position. It initially evaluates it as 50%, steadily rising to 90% after thinking for 90 seconds.
Amaizing. It must be a lesson for learners.
As quoted by netero don’t ever underestimate humanity and it’s infinite potential for evolution.
Lovely.
Kramnik was already losing at this point, but the Qf8 blunder goes to show you that even top-level grandmasters sometimes (albeit rarely) miss 1-move tactics. Great game!
The funky, asymmetrical and obscure only-moves were what gave this game its magic, Jerry, you are right.
Yes I guessed the pawn to h5 Kasparov move 😀 brilliant no frills approach to your descriptions no gimmicks just first class commentary by the way👌
The last move was the icing.
Nice!
Great match..
Great game
What a combination 🤯
Have seen this combination:) both with bg7 deflection but still love it;)
Thank you
BEAUTIFUL COMBINATION
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤝
Jerry, do you still do commentary on titled tuesday? I miss it so much, my absolute favourite TV/YT content,, period!
Thanks for all the great content you have brought us over the years🫶🏽
See his video from three days ago
👍
What a cool game. Love the tactic of sacrificing a piece just to prevent the queen from defending a pawn that's holding everything together.
That's mindblowing
Hey Jerry. Lovely find bro. Like always. And a huge fan over here.
Also my 1st comment here comes with a request 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Pls cover Fischer vs Taimanov ( Bishop vs Knight Endgame). I have seen it but I would love the way u cover games.
Hoping for that video soon 🙏🙏🙏
