I really appreciate how these videos show realistic outcomes and not just successful “first-time” attempts.

I got lucky with my owner trained service dog, Lola. She loved laying on her back for belly rubs, so I trimmed her paws while she laid on her back between my legs. She was a very chill dog and she loved celery. I hope my next rescue dog will be as good as her!

Dude great video 👍🏼 it encourages me to see there are a variety of ways and a non urgent pace to familiarize a puppy with grooming tools. I was very forceful with my last dog about grooming to just get it done. I'm learning a lot from these videos, thank you!

thank you so much. This will help so much with my 8 yr. old rescue that is almost impossible to trim. I have had him about a year...

I had my first rescue. I took him for walks and I would stop in the middle of a walk while he was so busy looking around and trim one nail. One and reward heavily. Sitting in a quiet place would only have him focus on his nails in our house. Outside is a great distraction from the nails. One front one back. Everyday and in a month we were clipping all 4 paws. His comfort. We clip after a walk now next to the car before the drive home. They give us no problems.

@babynieve9612 I base my purchase on price and reviews from Amazon. I own large breeds so I go through them often.

Thanks for sharing. My dog is a rescue, about a year. Will not let me touch his paws. Love this idea of doing when out and about with doggo.

What kind of bone is the dog chewing on? I have a 6 mo gsd and im so fearful to give him bones but that looks okay, and perfect for a great distraction. Great video!

I wonder how long you think this would take for a dog that is already afraid (adult rescue) . Daily work for a month?

Dogs that don't like nails trimmed can be annoying and difficult for a lot of people. I've trimmed some difficult dogs I tend to have good luck with it for some reason. But my puppy for example I will start introducing clippers early and i also teach shake almost immediately with our sit. Also when it's relaxing time and he's next to me or on my lap I will hold his feet and it's just a good idea in general for any dog to get them used to being touched even in their private areas it's not anything bad but you need to be able to feel for injuries and look for injuries and problems or dry their undercarriage with a towel etc.. I like to try to desensitize to a Dreme,l a person can actually just maintain nails with a dremel but if you can't use a dremel or don't want to it's good to spend time desensitizing to having their paws/toes messed with so you can easily take time to trim nails nicely so theres no splitting also a nice sharp clipper that cuts easily is important. I like doing little bits often so the kwik doesn't grow out. If your dog has long kwiks from not being trimmed you can actually slowly reduce the overall length overtime by often maintaining a short trim especially with a dremel. If your on pavement with your dog a lot you might find that their nails stay short but it's always good to pay attention to the dew claws or there may be a few toes that don't wear down as much. Nail maintenance is a good way to prevent injuries I've seen some icky injuries from really long nails and even nails that grew so long they curled around into the paw pads.

I had my 2-yr-old doodle to the point of laying down for all 18 nails until we cut one too close ONE TIME. Had to build from ground zero, and still working on it. Frustrating! I am super-conservative with my clips now.

We walk ours 4 miles a day, only have to trim a bit once a month, rear feet never have to cut. The cement wears them all down. But ya we did all of this stuff anyway so he would be ok with handling
