    Why are we fighting for hourly rates? I would rather we get rate cards that will not limit hourly earnings.

    I believe it's $32.50 per active or engaged hr... NOT straight per hour. Meaning if utilization is 50%, it's $16.25 per hour before expenses. So not great.

      Agree. Also for long rides not worth it. In in CA/ not MA but sometimes i get $60/70 hr rides for long trips. Just make it simple $ x mile plus $ x minute = total comp

    A 3 hr trip on the highway would pay you 97.50+tip, deduct the gas of round trip mileage and the tear and wear on your car.
    Food, hotel logging if you can get back home. How much do you take home at the end of that trip? 😂😂😂😂
    We should fight for a 90/10 split , uber and lyft can pay all their fees with with just 20% of thier 10 %. We should fight for that. F??k hourly and vacation bullshit i want freedom.

    They will start to treat mass drivers just like NY drivers. Shutting on and shutting off drivers to control rate.

    • @chelo2626ify
      @chelo2626ify 3 місяці тому

      Not because this is only from accepting to dropping off unlike ny which is while the driver is online

    • @WaltDittrich
      @WaltDittrich 3 місяці тому

      For better or worse, this $32.50 is only while driving to a passenger or with a passenger in the vehicle.
      Therefore, if driver demand is low, they're not beholden to the minimum pay as drivers won't be earning that minimum (since there are no rides).

    A similar thing happened here in New York State. There was a settlement between the Attorney General and the rideshare companies. Drivers are supposed to earn $26.78 per "active" hour, and there was supposed to be a settlement payment. This was instituted on February 29th, 2024. So far I have not seen a check, but what I have seen is a significant slowdown on lyft. I suspect this is because the hourly rate clock starts when you accept the ride, and ends when you drop off. Sitting idle pays nothing, even if online. These companies always find workarounds.

    1:02 so far following this logic, is better take short trips in heavy traffic, than take long trip through the highway, because in this case 45 miles in 40 min it will be like $21.67. For me it will worth if they guarantee $32.50/h on trip plus $1.00+/mile.

      👏 👏 👏… once that start…let me/us know how that works… because if they are going to start giving u only long trips where they still going to be charging to riders 80 bucks and you are getting $35 out of that ride and you end that trip in 50 min; maybe you will have a little bit more than $32.50 dollars an hour. Now if you give 3 to 4 , $3 real short trips in 1 hour; they going to have reimbursed you more money to complete your $32.50 dollars an hour, and that sounds much better cuz you don’t use your vehicle that much and don’t spent so much gas. … omg it sound complicated lol … ✌🏼 from Cali

    💩I smell something 💩!!! I need further clarification on the hours they are paying the drivers.
    If this law were in California, what would Uber & Lyft pay to a driver for a ride from Sacramento California to San Francisco (let's say a 100 mile trip) ??? Would they pay for the driver to come back to Sacramento California (another 100 mile trip) ???
    Hypothetically speaking, lets say it took two hours do complete the trip. Let's say the driver was able to average 50 miles per hour on the freeway. That would mean they would pay the driver $65.00 to do this ($32.50 X 2 = $65.00). Would Uber and Lyft be required to pay the driver to drive back to Sacramento California (I don't think so)???
    If I was a driver, I wouldn't take this ride. Taking into account todays gas prices, I would pay roughly $40 dollars in gas to go there and back. This would net me $25.00 for 4 hours of work driving there and back. This would = $25.00 / 4 = $6.25 per hour. This doesn't even take into account depreciation etc. For 2024 the IRS standard mileage rate for business is 67 cents per mile.
    This is the math for the IRS standard mileage deduction in 2024. The mileage deduction is 67 cents per mile for all business miles driven, this includes dead miles driving back. So the mileage deduction from Sacramento to San Francisco, there and back would be as follows. 100 miles there, 100 miles back would be 200 miles. 67 cents IRS standard mileage deduction times 200 would be a $135 IRS standard mileage deduction. I can guarantee Uber and Lyft ARE NOT paying cents per mile and cents per minute for dead miles back and between rides. There is the further question of, would Uber and Lyft pay for injury's in an auto accident when the driver is between rides and if so does the coverage change? This is a NO MONEY DEAL!!!!

  • @jhonperegrino5636
    @jhonperegrino5636 3 місяці тому +1

    The goal must have nothing to do with a minimum wage; that can be manipulated by the rideshare companies and will result in no tipping. The fight should be focused on the drivers getting 80 percent or even 75 percent of a passenger’s payment without that silly numbers game with “after expenses”. If passengers believe that the driver is getting 75-80 percent of their payment, then tips won’t be affected. I think this is not much of a W.

  • @richardwitty3666

    It's good news. It's active time, but means that pickup time is included, drive time in heavy traffic.
    I'm not going to cry about boston traffic anymore.
    BUT rider fares will go up reducing active time as % of total.
    It applies throughout the state, so in my market outside of amherst na I'll do well (long pickups in suburbs no longer unpaid).
    It will be applied as an average of all your rides hard to know if daily, weekly?

      As if passengers regularly tip. Drivers already create more than enough value to Uber Corporate to get paid $32.50/hour which likely only active time driving passengers instead of just being merely online. Back in the early 2010s, this would have been money readily made until the take rate of Uber starting getting severely out of balance in relation to the value provided by the driver.

    I think fighting for the right to be in whatever que you actually want to be in plus combining this with a 80/20 split would be awesome. If they want us to accept Uber x and Uber x share rides the answer is simple just pay more per ride in order to make it worth it. Acceptance rates will rise on their own - in case you weren’t aware Uber decided to combine Uber comfort with Uber x & Uber shared rides. (Terrible decision-but this should let you know they need more drivers to take those low paying fares) if all the comfort eligible cars decided to quit tomorrow they’d be in a world of trouble-that’s why they combined the ques - they “need us” to take the lower paying rides.

    I know it look a lot but is not. Believe me i used to drive taxi and 5 years ago the rate was $40 a hour and that is not including driving miles all the time. Remember long trip highway we can drive abot 60 miles in a hour so wwe are guaranteed only $32 for 60 miles. but it is a start because if you get stock in traffic in a short trip you will will get pay for it

    This is the problem with Ubereats nowadays. In my area I'm averaging 5 dollars an hour being online while delivering orders! 5 dollars an hour!! That's pitiful and it's not enough. The reason why it's like this is because there's no drivers cap, basically the drivers assigned to an area can be limitless so of course anyone closest to a delivery is going to get the offer. Also, you can screw up your metrics by not keeping the highest pro-level which is diamond, and/or canceling even just one delivery request. Simple factors like this will seriously limit the opportunities you will receive in getting a delivery in an area crowded with online delivery drivers.

    $32.5 is only for active hours meaning if you're online but not having a customer you will not get paid for that time.
    If you're online for 1 hours, active for 45 min and 15 min without customer. You will get only $24. I mean they will give you the difference if you maid less than $24

    I would never unionize anyway because I don't like paying union dues. I only started to work for Uber because I moved in this area, and I wanted to get the lay of the land. I live in Massachusetts, and this all sounds good. But the rate of pay per hour is only good when the passenger is in your car until you dropped them off. Half the time the ride will not last that long anyway. It takes more time to go and pick the person up. I get a lot of rides that it will take almost 15-20 minutes to pick someone up just to take them around the corner for a less then $5 ride. ~sigh~ If it takes me longer to get a person then the ride itself, and not get paid proper, I will not take that ride. I only work maybe, maybe 15-20s a week anyway. I don't think this is going to do me any good, considering the gas and the wear & tear on my car. Also, I wish they would get rid of radar trips; I never accept those.

    Hey guys, boston driver here for over 8 years and a 70%+ acceptance rate. So the deceptive thing about this agreement is that any drivers who play the lyft/uber rideshare app game will already make upwards of 35 an hour on active time , i make 36 on average over all online even when not “engaged” as the agreement calls it, havent even done the math on just active time (which will obviously be much higher) so theres no real win here. im afraid they may use this to jack fare prices up and leave the drivers with same pay with this PR stunt. Only 2 things i see new here is the sick pay and the settlement money. 1hour sick pay for every 15 hours worked up to 40 hours a year. Which is a joke in itself a cold lasts over 7 days on average and people get sick more than 3 times a year but it is a step in the right direction. I feel they made this minimum guarantee just to give a basis for the sick pay rate. I was hoping for a percent increase in rates or something higher than what its been but it seems nothing will change as far as pay per ride goes. Bummer.

      @iminlov3 3 місяці тому

      Also wanted to add that i know our states results are different and much better off than other states, primarily because of the strict background checks, but to call this an improvement is technically true but only for sick pay not reg pay. People outside of the city will also continue to struggle to find rides which means they still have to deal with all the downtime killing their actual hourly wage.

    • @mattcoorey2580
      @mattcoorey2580 3 місяці тому

      Absolutely is a win. You might be making $35 an hour but the average Uber or Lyft driver is not making $35 an hour. Most of them probably aren’t even even making $25 an hour.
      Read the actual agreement. This is a good deal.

    • @iminlov3
      @iminlov3 3 місяці тому

      @@mattcoorey2580 the reason why they arent making 35 an hour is because of the downtime waiting for rides. This “agreement” is only paying for active hour not online hour so these people making less than 35 are still not gonna make the 32.50 if the utilization rate is less than 100%. At 50% they are only guaranteed 16.25. Very misleading
