Not gonna lie this would be a great tool to use for recording personal demos and such.... So many sounds at your fingertips. Line 6 have really been shaking their 00s reputation.
Really good stuff coming from Line 6! Yamaha make great guitars, very underrated. Smart moving using Yamaha manufacturing for entry into the Variax system. I so hope they upgrade the G90 to a G95 or something. I'd really like to see the new wireless technology in a rack format. With the switching capabilities, I really think thats something the rack community would take well to. Great job on the coverage PG!
Uhh I hope they used good piezos this time. The ones in the Variax 600 a disaster. After some time 1-2 strings stoped working and endless people seemed to have the same problem. Hope they learned!
That is not the same as the entry level Yamaha axe, which is actually a solid guitar btw. This is like one of their better $900 models with the modeling thrown in, sounds great
eric dye oh that's so good. I have that gigmaker guitar and I recommend it. Very good quality and sounds for the price. So this Variax must be even better and beat even overpriced hyped guitars. It's a shame that Yamaha is underrated regarding guitars.
Seriously LINE 6, make a left-handed model. Every lefty in the world would buy one, it's not that hard. Or just make it as a kit so I can do it myself.
Chris Palevich thank you for this sagely advice A slight rant, because pretty much every lefty is tired of hearing this "advice": If I'm going to drop some cash on an instrument, I want it to function how it was intended, buying a righty and flipping the strings and then doing the controls all backwards is pointless. The only reason others have done this was out of necessity (hendrix) or keep the strings as-is for a specific sound (Albert King) In a word where a majority of these instruments are made on a CNC machine it takes maybe 20 seconds to load in a new CAD file and roll some lefties off the assembly line. Then some dude has to, what, wire a few things in reverse order? So why should i have to "flip the strings" when these manufacturers can very easily do this exact same thing on their assembly line? Sorry for the rant, but I get tired of hearing this advice, whether genuine or otherwise
Do you have any idea how much it will cost to stop the line and run yours? It's easy as pie, invert the program, I know too much about the process. The old saying, Pay to Play comes to mind.; then Im reminded of all the greatest guitar players that flip. Yet this guitar isn't flipable due to the knobs, bells and whistles. Good news. A new type of wood was found recently, the cut is in a 4 x 2 so it will cost 20% more, however there are many more possibilities with a 4 x 2. Any 2 x 4 has been reclaimed. Tough times in lumber.

Thanks so much for fixing the battery pack on the wireless system! I spilt batteries out of it live before haha

Loving the Line 6 stuff these days... they seem to be the only one pushing the envelope with music tech for the guitarist in the field :)
What is the profile on the new Variax? Is it thinner than the James Tyler version?
does the variax standard have a floating tremolo?

"dear" Line 6, even the digitech rp360 has a looper. enough said.
Microsoft Sam works at Line 6!
Price?
799
That entry-level variax is quite the same as the entry-level gigmaker that Yamaha sells for beginners with no this modelling tech.

I'd buy one of these variax guitars, if I could unscrew the pickguard, replace the pickups and transplant the whole thing into a fender strat.
Why can't you?
I think the variax requires more routing than that unfortunately.
Kevin Canavan It does, and you HAVE to know what you're doing or else you're wasting about a thousand dollars.
Kevin Canavan Or just slap a fender neck on there. You'll be the only one who knows haha.
Alex Schuster I'd love a fender neck on my Variax, but I'd rather not do something like that until the warranty is over.

Flip the strings. .. Just like a left handed piano, left handed harp, etc...
