Thank You for this wonderful solution... my fridge shelf broke and I panicked, but after watching this fix, will surely try to fix using this method first.
Great work! Wish that I had seen this sooner. Our $70 replacement shelf arrived today after being on back order for 4 weeks. (insert super tight/irritated/deep sigh face here). As I was getting ready to throw away the original shelf I thought to Google repair efforts. I appreciate you for posting this. Now I'm off to locate my soldering iron.
This is a good idea. I'm going to try this. I like that you got the point across while being calm and understated; I have a headache at the moment, so it was much appreciated. lol Thanks!
Good job man. What to fill it in with, super glue, ca with accelerator, silicone…. If we knew the plastic we could use the correct bonding for it. I think of the glass chip repair and glass screen repair… what is it. I guarantee the Chinese know, however it’s very tough now to find out this information. We use to make, repair and fix everything and it would last. Now your lucky and it’s a viral thing.
Glad I’ve found your video. Awesome job. Tip: In places where little pieces broke off and are nowhere to be found you can melt plastic tie of matching colour to fill in the gap. Now off to fixing cracks in my son’s black rooftop ski box
Next time try with a spatula (flat) tip. You can make one by flattening a nail with a hammer, really easy and fast. Do it in "chevron" like movements to cover one side of the crack (i.e. left to right) over the other and repeat (i.e. right to left) on the other side.
do need to be careful when melting any type of plastics; the fumes can be toxic. I'm in a similar situation; I was going to head to the local hardware store & have a smaller inset & larger piece of Plexi, cut to sandwich inside & under the door-tray. Looking at the UV glues as they're rated well with it.
Easier way; use some packing sticky tape, I use commercial 3 inch, to temporarily hold the broken part to the job. Attach a lick of tape to the underside, if you can, lay the broken part into it's place, along the broken edge's, as you offer it to the sticky tape. I have repaired broken shelf brackets with Gorilla Glue this way and it just needed the sticky tape added to the work side AFTER the glue is applied and part attached - by the sticky tape. Make sure the tape is tight and holding the parts along the crack in a perfect fit. No need to apply clamps or any of that when doing it this way.
Just another little tip.
I would drill a hole at the end of the cracks too.
It tends to stop them from spreading.
Thanks, so glad I saw this. $35 for new shelf, $168 freight from Sydney to Broome. I am going out to buy myself a soldering iron.

I would have poured a layer of epoxy resin in the bottom after. It will last forever. The plastic in these over priced fridges are all junk
They definitely are
Thanks going to try that because glueing doesn’t stay stuck.
Tape inside first together to hold it. Ty so much

Damn it , Mike. Where was the video 2 days ago? I literally just ordered a new shelf for mine because I gave up on super glue.
Sorry Buddy
@@CookeSonsCarpentry it was $42 on Whirlpool's website btw. Man... I wish I would've thought of that.
MASKING TAPE on inside to hold it on place
So, is it still holding together? I couldn't find an update, or did I just miss it?
What temperature did you have the iron set to?
Cool thank you
🙏 thanks man!!!
You bet!

Hi sir...Until now it is good?
It broke recently. I have 3 boys and they are hard on everything. If you don’t have kids slamming stuff you will be ok.
@@CookeSonsCarpentry so it lasted about a year? not bad
