What I love about this track is that it does something that a lot of video game soundtracks rarely ever do; it plays with expectations, by the time you reach Crimson Helm (or whatever you want to call him) you've already heard battle music from fighting all of the other demons so you already recognise the drums at the start but them the music suddenly shifts into something far more intense.
This was such a beautiful game. Everything about it: the music, the art, the game mechanics, the story, spoke to how much care and effort were put into it. It was truly a pleasure to play.
This track gets even better when you realize it's a medley of 3 different boss situations! Intro, time limit boss -> emotionally charged boss -> playful/mischievous/silly boss -> back to conveying it's a boss, no matter what kind it is, you gotta beat it! It took me this many years to realize this track is a friggin MEDLEY!
This track also plays in some of the hidden gauntlet-themed Demon gates. I only realised how amazingly awesome this track was when I was cutting dozens upon dozens of imps apart in seconds with godlike power.
Oh I love this Boss theme so much. Amaterasu should be in Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U and this should be one of the songs. Maybe Nintendo is getting the stocks from Capcom, then Amaterasu really have a chance... Okami, the best game I ever played! :-D
i love this one, is like pure rock 'n roll but in ancient japanesse music, the ultimate ass kickin tune in the game, literaly speaking since is a battle theme
This was a fun fight. I found myself running circle-strafe around him to hit him from behind when he charged, to avoid his darn flaming swords. He's a good rail-cannon type boss. Heavily armored and packing power... but only in one direction at a time. A good design. He was fun. :)
True, they may not all have it, just that many of them do. Even with non-bosses, when you come across a new powerful monster it often has an extended intro before the main battle theme comes on :) It usually accompanies the stylized picture, and if I remember right, Orochi and Yami don't have that at the beginning (but most of the bosses, like Waka, Crimson Helm, etc, do) :)
Right you are. They're essentially the same song, but "Ushiwaka's Dance" is a bit different in the beginning, and there are a few minor changes throughout. Mostly different instruments. I'm no expert on music, of course. It's a small change, but Waka's version fits him perfectly.
@DaAwkwardShow yeh crimson helm was easy but this song is used most troughout the important battles and is used when fighting blight rao and later in normal fights in kamui
I think many of them do, because if I remember right, some of that intro effect is showing the stylized picture of them before the battle itself starts.
This is great boss fight music. It gets you into the fighting mood and the fast pace is at times a bit overwhelming. These are also attributes any good boss fight should have imo. Which makes it such a shame that most of Okami's boss fights did not have these qualities. Excellent music though.
Would it surprise you that the ost name for it was not Crimson Helmet, as with how Spider Queen becomes Geisha Spider, Lechku and Nechku are Twin Devil's, and Orochis is actually his proper name, Yamata-no-orochi?
yeah, crimson helm looks awesome, he's like a samurai centaur with a dragon-like head and with a burning skeleton which is still white for some reason....
This game is a hands down underrated masterpiece and pure magnificence. In fact, the best game I've ever played on consoles. And I've played GTA series, Dishonored, Halo series, God of War series, MGS series etc... on consoles. I loved them all, but think that Okami is better than the rest of them. Even if you might not agree, it's at least worth a try.
@EmperorXaozx I shudder to think... I myself have forged a few things, mostly using medieval methods, and let me tell you, just forging a dagger is no joke. So that full armor set and his weapon would be REDICULOUS! Id say at the VERY minimum it would take... 6-7 years. If just because its gigantic and also because helmets are hands down the hardest part of armor to make.
This boss actually mangaged to kill me the first time around, since I was suprised at how much better he gets about staying in front of you when his health is low. Second time, I beat him without too much trouble, even though I took a fair amount of damage.
Best tips I can give to any new players: try and get the best divine instrument you can, or at least something more powerful than Divine Retribution (the more iconic instrument that Ammy wears by default), keep your astral pouch(es) full, and maybe consider either increasing the amount of ink pots you have and possibly stocking up on some inkfinity stones, holy bones (the larger the better), Traveller's charms, maybe some godly charms, and some steel soul sake. Anything else you can pretty much do without, there aren't really any useless items in the game but the ones I listed just happen to be the most useful.
I've played through the Wii version just fine several times. Even with the lowest battery charge, once you learn what strokes go where, the Wii controls are actually more accurate. JUST DON'T BUY THE SIDE DODGE TECHNIQUE!!
with crimson helmet being such a "joke," the creators admitted that his only purpose was to teach the player how to use the gust technique. citation? the okami art book.
@xtechnoxbeastx Especially the drummer. Just listen to him go! Well, there were probably multiple drummers, but it sounds like they all had pretty intense parts!
I remember when I faced him in a demo game at Wal-Mart. The battle was over in mere seconds. .....I barely had enough time to get my tail back that Crimsom Helm EPICALLY handed me. I have never got so Owned in my life....
@erererer2 Emperor was referring to an actual creation of it in modern times, not how it was created in the game. I understand how you got that though, I realized that might be what he was asking, but he specifically said how long it would take, not how long it did take.
yeah, crismon helm. good fun, but too easy. i've learned over the years, that if there is any way to make a boss more difficult, it is making him FASTER. more rapid attacks, swifter movements, more powerfull attacks with a greater range and radius.
the only bad part of this game was the simplicity of the fights. but i loves the super long demon gates when i was finding all the beads. still on 89!!!
I've found Fleetfoot to be useful on a few minor occasions, but generally I find the nunchuk on the Wii doesn't respond very well when I try to use it, hence my personal lack of appreciation for it.
@Herpderppsyduck It happened to me when one of those flying fish guys grabbed me and I killed 'em before they got off. I had to reset the system to fix it.
I want the job of the guy who says: "EEEEE!" and "EEEYOOOO!" In this music and the okami music
日本のちょっと激しめなお祭りくれば一般庶民でも叫びまくれますよ!!www😂

Listen to this while taking a shit - Shit becomes feudal warrior that wishes to avenge his father.
WTF? XD
´but you are the father
Jason Gorton XDDD
This was such a beautiful game. Everything about it: the music, the art, the game mechanics, the story, spoke to how much care and effort were put into it. It was truly a pleasure to play.
its 2022 and it is still a beautiful game. i still play it from time to time
「あの赤い鉄兜...どうやら赤カブト様のお出ましのようだィ へっへ...確かに悪そうな面構えだァ 気合い入れて行けよ、アマ公!」

"A crimson helmet...
Hey, it must be Crimson Helm!"
This track gets even better when you realize it's a medley of 3 different boss situations!

My god. The Orchestra must have had a BLAST playing this!
This piece is a masterpiece, as well as the game itself!
This track also plays in some of the hidden gauntlet-themed Demon gates.
I only realised how amazingly awesome this track was when I was cutting dozens upon dozens of imps apart in seconds with godlike power.
I've rarely listened to video game soundtracks this orchestrally complex and rich with instruments. This is a genius piece of music.
Thank you so much for upload all this. I love it.
ah i always remember the fighting music in this game made the battles really fun.. they make me so motivated to fight :D
God, just imagine a true HD remake of this absolutely fantastic game...
You can play Okami HD with PC mods to increase clarity/sharpness on an OLED screen and it looks amazing.
Oh I love this Boss theme so much. Amaterasu should be in Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U and this should be one of the songs. Maybe Nintendo is getting the stocks from Capcom, then Amaterasu really have a chance...
Okami, the best game I ever played! :-D
Tymerion Sparkwoof i agree
well at least someone has the same idea as me :) i could imagine smashing with this playing...
+green fiya Let it sink in...
WE NEED ANOTHER OP FEMALE CHARACTER IN SMASH NOW
Make it happen Nintendo, plez~!
i love this one, is like pure rock 'n roll but in ancient japanesse music, the ultimate ass kickin tune in the game, literaly speaking since is a battle theme
Yooooo = shit got real in japanese :D
perfect soundtrack. makes me want to play now.
This was a fun fight. I found myself running circle-strafe around him to hit him from behind when he charged, to avoid his darn flaming swords. He's a good rail-cannon type boss. Heavily armored and packing power... but only in one direction at a time.
A good design. He was fun. :)
Ce casque de fer rouge on dirait kabuto-sama rouge est Apparu.. soudainement maléfique. Gardez le moral, Arna-ko ! 🙌
this is my favorite fighting music *o*

Three Nagi clones all spamming flying swords
Easy to understand, hard to actually fight. Thank God(dess) for Vengeance Slips
All I could imagine is a night martial arts fight on top of a japanese train.
Awesome soundtrack. Awesome dungeon. Awesome attacks. WAY to easy...
Right you are. They're essentially the same song, but "Ushiwaka's Dance" is a bit different in the beginning, and there are a few minor changes throughout. Mostly different instruments. I'm no expert on music, of course.

この曲は化け九十九折戦が一番似合う。
This is great boss fight music. It gets you into the fighting mood and the fast pace is at times a bit overwhelming. These are also attributes any good boss fight should have imo. Which makes it such a shame that most of Okami's boss fights did not have these qualities. Excellent music though.
It was also for the Waka fight music, except that one was accompanied by a flute throughout the song.
It's Crimson Helm, not Red Helmet :P
It's literally the same thing, just different synonymy usage. But yeah in the English translation, it's Crim Helm lol
Would it surprise you that the ost name for it was not Crimson Helmet, as with how Spider Queen becomes Geisha Spider, Lechku and Nechku are Twin Devil's, and Orochis is actually his proper name, Yamata-no-orochi?
A crimson helmet?
Hey, it must be *Crimson Helm!*
I love this EEHHH in the back
I want to take an abandoned hangar or factory, build the most epic parkour course, and then run it to this song
not one dislike thats how you know a this game was greatness.
I got that glitch when I was just making my way through the Tsuta Ruins. I restarted the game and it was gone, but damn, that was freaky...
Thought at the beginning:
Oh no a battle!
yeah, crimson helm looks awesome, he's like a samurai centaur with a dragon-like head and with a burning skeleton which is still white for some reason....

Wooooooooooow superbly!!!

Wonder if we can see these musicians playing LIVE xD
I've played through the Wii version just fine several times.
Even with the lowest battery charge, once you learn what strokes go where, the Wii controls are actually more accurate.
JUST DON'T BUY THE SIDE DODGE TECHNIQUE!!
Yes, it's him. Also known as Crimson Helm.
Crimson Helm sounds like a moniker for Pyramid Head.
it sounds like a storm
with crimson helmet being such a "joke," the creators admitted that his only purpose was to teach the player how to use the gust technique. citation? the okami art book.
sure the devil gates and the notebooks/wanted lists were a pain but it was a good sidequest to do
何回クリアしたっけなwよく住民に撫でてもらったっけw
ウエペケレの住民は円で囲むと獣化するし
なんかやりたくなってきた…
同感!
I got it in Sasa Sanctuary, and cutscenes were weird, and I couldn't jump sometimes in battle. It stopped when I restarted, though.
@xtechnoxbeastx
Especially the drummer. Just listen to him go!
Well, there were probably multiple drummers, but it sounds like they all had pretty intense parts!
@OLDrawingProductions No, their both a remake of Spirit Extermination. Listen to that first because that's the song you hear FIRST.
THIS SHIT WAS MY JAM, YO
I remember when I faced him in a demo game at Wal-Mart. The battle was over in mere seconds.
.....I barely had enough time to get my tail back that Crimsom Helm EPICALLY handed me. I have never got so Owned in my life....

@JacomeFelg Yea but they use this epic song in a lot of other fights, like Blight, so it gets its time to shine :D
i'm gonna take a wild guess and say you were playing the wii version...am i right?
it makes me wanna do the chicken dance but with an epic background and serious face XD
Haha, I love this one.
It's just.... The PERFECT motivational fight song, in my opinion. So fast paced, and upbeat. It would make fighting fun. :3
like all the games you played...this comes really close to kingdom hearts kinda style
I think I would want this song playing if I ever get into a fight.
was anyone other than me disturbed to find out that red helm was made of flaming cow bones?
When I beat this guy I was 100% certain that he'd have a second phase after the cutscene because he was soooo easy.
I was like "OH CANT TOUCH ME!! OH HIT U IN THE BACK!!! OH UR ARMOUR CAME OF- WTF IS THAT!?!
according to issun (presents from Issun)
the name of this song is crimson helm begone!
this battle took me about 15 minutes
@Ascensiam Yes, it does.
I beat Crimson Helm before I could hear the entire song. D: But then I heard the entire thing when I fought Blight. :D
I don't care what it's called! To me, it's the Crimson Something-or-other!
Yes. But it happened to me at Ryoshima Coast.
@Aggron24 so true, so true...
@silverfan2k,
"Beautiful Maiden Amaterasu" would say that if she could talk.
yeah, crismon helm. good fun, but too easy. i've learned over the years, that if there is any way to make a boss more difficult, it is making him FASTER. more rapid attacks, swifter movements, more powerfull attacks with a greater range and radius.
Anyone else get a glitch in this boss where Ammy's head disappears and partially gets long and is underground behind her?
the only bad part of this game was the simplicity of the fights. but i loves the super long demon gates when i was finding all the beads. still on 89!!!
@WolfGrindingInc ahaha yeah the pee move on this game I have to admi9t is pretty helpful when wanting to get demon fangs
@Sporademus465 okay then. its the most epic part.
*shudder* bad memories of trial demon gates flowing back to me /:S
I've found Fleetfoot to be useful on a few minor occasions, but generally I find the nunchuk on the Wii doesn't respond very well when I try to use it, hence my personal lack of appreciation for it.
LOL okami is da best!! awesome
That then would not work for collectors, completionists, or those who find Fleetfoot useful (it really is).
0:58
@muslymier probably cause he is the smallest major boss in the game, and he just doesn't look like he is a major boss.
WOW
das spiel für die wii ist einfach nur klasse :)
You'd regret not doing so. Just one thing: get the PS2 or PS3 versions. You can draw more quickly on the Wii, but less precisely.
@shintaqo That pretty much sums it all up.
@Herpderppsyduck It happened to me when one of those flying fish guys grabbed me and I killed 'em before they got off. I had to reset the system to fix it.
@uiruu nah spider queen's easier once you've pulled open her abdomen just spam power slash and you don't even need to go near her
RAO!!
Lol freaking epic dude
Doesn't this play during the battle against Blight as well?
damn, Blight is so underrated :(
I wonde rhow long it would take to make Crimson Helm's armor and swords?
THis sounds just like Spirit Extermination! Well, maybe at the beginning. Who keeps doing that!?
This sounds like Ushiwaka's fight music :P
Same theme :P
Hazel Nut Like I had mentioned to someone else, basically they are both varied versions of the normal demon battle theme "Spriit extermination" ^-^
Fucking love this song!! They should've use this one for Yami. It would've been badass!!8D
Shamisennnnnnnn
my sister has this game..but it has dots on it.
i call them "Sparkels of doom"
Red Helmets?
I thought it was Crimson Helm....
