Quick update on the Pixel 7a, since I shot the review: battery life continues to get better, so I'm getting a full day no problem now. Be interesting to see how it's performing in a month or so. Camera not as good as the Pixel 7 in ambient light (some of that colour/texture is lost) but otherwise still impressive. What do you reckon, thumbs up?
I have Google Pixel 6a since August and when it comes to batteries, it has improved day by day. The phone learns your use and adjusts the battery consumption to the point where I still have 20% after a full day (from 9am to 11pm). Also, these first days do not prove how the battery worked, give the phone about two weeks and you will be grateful
@@georgeweah9717 Yes, but during this day you also sleep a few hours and I'm sure not only 2, and besides, now it's normal to charge your phone every day, even if it's flagships and so on, and if not, you wake up in the next morning and start the day with 40 or 30 percent, which also will not survive the entire 2nd day
@@patrycjachryc2823 Today standard is having a fast charger to top up your phone in 10-15 min that will last you again over 24 hours. Bad chip Tensor G2 is inside that burns battery fast and heats up phone especially on warmer days when recording at 4k video and stops recording after 20min, because of heat. And by the way your phone battery is not improving after 8 months of use.
@@georgeweah9717 yeah no 10-15 mins top charging isn't today's standard stop with the bs. Also most people only use phones for about 6 hours on average then go to sleep at night while charging our little buggery phone.
Great review and info. Google has launched this a bit early, typically launch their 'a' phones in Aug/Sep. I have a Pixel 4a and plan to by this one but might wait a few months to see if they discount it a bit to the $450 I paid for my 4a.
I have the Pixel 6a. This one seems like a good phone,but the bezels seems a bit chunkier than the 6a,although the new Tensor should definitely be an improvement with more ram and better sensor.I still prefer the look of the 6a,which is good enough for most people.The 7a would definitely be a better offer when the price decreases a wee bit.

I'd be willing to "downgrade" to the Tensor G1 if they fixed the bezels and slow-ass charging. Weird decision there imo. Would you say the camera is better than the 6A?
Swapped to 6A half a year ago after being on iPhones since 3GS. I blame you for that swap, however no regrets at all as i picked it up for less than 250 quid and well impressed in terms of bang for buck! Now the question is how much better is the camera on 7A compared to 6A? Or do you recommend waiting until 8 Pro is out.
Ah, damn, always the same problem with the battery life. I really hope Google will finally fix the problem with the Pixel 8 and 8 pro (with a better charging speed as well). For me, even if the Pixel 7A has many qualities, and even more in his price range, that's a no go. Though, i'm still very very happy with my S23 so well. I'm tempted by this, but my biggest hesitation is the battery. I'm still using my Pixel 3 and battery life was crap even when new. Nearly every review for Pixels mention it's either not great or just ok. After so many phones, how can Google still struggle to address this.

I'd hope the NP2 would be better since Carl Pei has listed it as a premium device and the 7a is mid range no? But I agree, I'm looking forward to seeing the NP2 and the Nord 3! Currently using the NP1 and not overly impressed with it but wanted to see what a new comer to the market could do (I had the OnePlus 6T and loved it)
OP was never in the game with their super trash camera and I mean sometimes I wonder, How a brand can produce such a bad camera and they don't discriminate, every oneplus has the worst of all cameras, and don't let me get started on portrait mode, just with the portrait shot from my 2018's pixel 3, I was able to embarrass my friend using OP 9R.

Finally it's out, I have never spent £400 on a phone that I was going to use and for some strange reason whenever I get a phone that I think costs a lot it gets stolen but this right here is really a looker, I think that it's worth the risk for the next 4 years. Google seriously needs to cancel the A series line why wouldn't someone of just bought the superior standard 7 when it's been on sale multiple times for £450 or less over it's lifetime.
I do love my 7 Pro but I just wish they would unlock the long exposure feature and make it a true long exposure. My old Huawei P30 Pro could do 30 minute star trails, something I wish the Pixel could do. Still, pure Android is a joy to use. I couldn't go back to a skinned OS again
I hate that you can't get rid of the app tray, the Google search bar on home screen, and have to scroll all the way left to close all your apps. Other than that it's a great phone.

Was really looking forward to it, with a decent screen size and specs however the battery life has really put me off. Im using a samsung s20 fe with 4500mah and im getting around 14hrs avg per day (and had it since release) with usage but having to charge from 10% before bed. 6-10 hrs means im flat before i finish work
I have the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 which did a good job for filming my UA-cam video's. Now I bought the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G and the camera is worse for filming than my old Note 10. When I film my hands when I'm drawing it's fine, but when I film the process of my photoshoots in my small studio (there is less lighting there, so it's a bit darker) the images are soft and no detail is left. That's a huge disappointment, so I want to return it. That having said, I'm still looking for a good replacement of my Note 10. And I'm thinking about this one. You said the film camera of this Google Pixel 7a did an OK job filming if the light conditions aren't too bad. But I can't compare the footage. I also haven't find a video yet with video footage in low light conditions. Do you have proper advice for me? I really hope you can help, because I'm near desperate at the moment. Time is ticking for my old phone.
After watching your videos I had bought Google Pixel 6a last December. No doubt, camera is very good. But after 6 months of use, its screen dislodged from its base , without any physical impact . Happened on its own. I gave it for warranty repair/exchange, but its very poor in India. For more more than two weeks I did not receive any communication from them about status of my phone , and when I contacted them. they gave dodgy statements and even till today I don't have my phone back. If you live in India, then avoid buying pixel , as after sales service is as important as a features of phone. Also, its product quality is average, thats why it was given for warranty repair in first place. Its software quality is good, but Hardware and After Sales service support in India is very poor.

I was impressed by the tutorial but the battery in all mobiles will still ge a problem, as it's the power within the brain of the case. My S21 5G never overheats, so this is just an anomaly. Looks like a good phone, though. It's still a toss between an S23 5G or Pixel 7?
I really do not understand how every stock-like Android user prevents the thing moving icons from the homescreen unintentionally. I always have to use a third party launcher to lock the homescreen icons. Do you experience this also now or then? Or am I just too clumsy for this?

It's not a problem. I had it for the first few days with my 7 and now (months of use) it's ridiculously good.
