I just bought one of these. Still waiting for it to show up. But I'm coming over from iphone SE. Just got tired of crappy battery and crappy pics. So going after some Apple market might be a good move on their part.
By the way, the reason they target Apple, rather than say Samsung, is that Google and Samsung are super-buddies and Google relies on Samsung tech to make their phones. It would be a dumb business move to target Samsung. As for targeting Moto, targeting an OEM that is not really premium is competing at a level Google execs would frown upon. They do not want to be known as an alternative to Moto! So Google has to tread a fine line to not upset affiliates like Samsung, or co-Android OEMs like Moto. So Apple is an easy target as most Android diehards love anti-Apple nonsense.
Im in love with my pixel 7a, worth the hassle of bringing it to my country and every penny saved for it, the camera is amazing, the quality is amazing, the user experience is amazing too. Another big google marketing mistake is just selling (officialy) pixel devices on select countries, if they just started selling those devices globally, it would shake the market for sure
Totally agree. That midrange position was brilliant, I still have old working pixels and nexus's for reminiscing and as back up for my current 5a which is great until it dies and gets fixed every few months. Google is too preoccupied dancing with Samsung and Apple to continue building on what they initially did so well. Would love to see that midrange dominance come back.
Why, for the love of God, dont they release this phone with a 256GB storage option?!?! If they offered a micro-SD port it wouldnt be a big deal. But if you're going internal storage only, you can't give us a 256GB option? Deal breaker for me.
If you pay attention to the specs, it listed as USB C 3.2, which most or all android midrange only support USB C 2.0 Seriously, if you know how to copy paste to pc/laptop/SSD, 128gb with USB C 3.2 is not a big deal at all, you can easily transfer/backup all your data at 100 mbps speed, compared to USB 2.0 you will get 20 mbps only I would take 128gb w/ USB C 3.x rather than 256/512gb w/USB C 2.x only all day
I have a 6a as well. I had a 7 and loved it, but I gave it to my wife. I like that the plastic back on the "a" models helps cut on weight. Definitely holding onto it until the 8a!
I HAD THE 6A AND UPGRADED TO THE 7A AND ITS DEFINITELY WORTH IT THE COLORS LOOKS CARTOON ISH ON THE 6A AND THE 7A HAVE LIKE A REAL LIFE COLORING SCHEME, SAME LENGTH BUT MORE WIDER FOR WATCHING MOVIES, UA-cam, ETC ... THOU I DO LIKE THE 6A IS MORE COMFY IN THE HANDS AND WEIGH LESS AND MORE SLEEK OF A FEELING WHILE HANDLING IT BUT 7A IS DEFINITELY BETTER
If it had a mid tier Snapdragon 7 Gen2 with X62 modem for 400US, they would literally control the market. Google marketing group are idiots making 7 & 7a with minimal differences.
They could've lowered the price to $399 regardless without making any cuts like when you look at pixel 7 which started at $599 now can be found for slightly cheaper $449 vs the pixel 7a I would say the difference is enough to make is a $399 phone but even for that price it's kinda hard to recommend just because you have the pixel 7 in the way that you can buy for $449 maybe even $399. Their was just no need to release it it doesn't fit and the only way it would've fitted in was if pixel 7 was $649-$699 right now but because it's tangling up with its premium brothers makes it a unless phone to exist, maybe if they didn't release the pixel 7a the pixel fold would've looked less dumbed because you think of a phone that priced 4× less their pixel fold with same specs. It's better Google discontinues their a series but the existence of their a series continues to symbolize that very soon the pixel 8 and the 8 pro will have a price increase to make room to sell the pixel 8a because Google wants to rip you off and the only possible way is to increase the price.
The USA doesn't get One plus phones? That's the only website I could find while in Taiwan looking for one plus phones just all from USA and in USD currency.
Just drain the fone till 4,5% and charge it till 100% keep it connected to charger for couple hours even after 100% charged. Change all old sim to 5g if any.. it should be fine after a week . It just takes time after new update..
I think my own personal complaint with the 7a is that it is too similarly priced to the better Pixel 7. Best Buy currently has an incentive on a few carriers for $399 on the 7. $499 for the 256gb version. 7a lowest incentive was $449 for only 128gb. Plus I was able to get the 6a for $199.

I love Oneplus phones was big HTC until they sold out and no longer make phones, i started Oneplus 7 now waiting on the 12 pro they have the fastest charging 65-100 watts Lucid speed charging
I have to agree, this is the iphone se in android world, with a modern design. If Google screws this up with the pixel a series which seems better than what Samsung is now putting out in it's a series in terms what it can do, I'm going iphone all the way, in the midrange category of course. Apple, flagship...midrange. Google, flagship...midrange. Samsung, flagship...midrange multiple-choice yet step downs from previous midrange range phones. To Samsung, you make phones for every price point for affordability and that's great!! However your midrange a series should improve on the previous series and not just look good, costing around the same as iphone se or pixel a series. Which are way better in power and cameras.
I had a look at the 7a. It looks nice, but has the most dreadfully dull and dark display. This put me right off buying one . Without a good display a phone, tablet or TV is nothing.
To be fair, Motorola does make decent phones. The specs they offer for the price is generally pretty great, but obviously the slow updates and bad camera software are pretty damn off-putting
If you ever compare these phones to Redmi or poco devices (xiaomi) and when I say these, I'm referring to moto, pixel, OnePlus nord, etc devices you will understand how much you are getting ripped off. There just so much you get with those devices- battery charger in box, 3.5 mm option, AMOLED display, battery life lasting all day and doesn't actually drain a lot on idle I could go on and on
Google has never made money from their smartphones and that is probably not the point. They are now, along with most sensible OEMs moving away from the highly competitive low-margin mid-range and targeting the flagship and super-flagship. That gives them halo devices to push their software and AI/ML capabilities. The Pixel A line is more of a distraction that does little for its image and almost nothing for its bottom line. I would not be surprised if Google ditched the A sooner rather than later and instead do what Apple started, keep older devices around to sell at lower prices. So the Pixel 7 could replace the Pixel 8a next June. With such a small differential between the 7a and 7, at least by using an older chip, as Apple does, we get a clearer picture as to what we are getting. We are at the point where year-on-year upgrades to the SOC are almost superfluous, so instead of cutting back on useful features, mid-range can use cheaper, older chips to get to their price point. So the lack of hype with the Pixel 7a could be a forewarning of likely changes, as we are seeing with Samsung and the Asian re-release of the S21FE. It is simple; gives great features but older chips that are cheap though still perform better than newer Exynos chips we see in say the A54, and prices that are competitive.
Reason I never got the 7a was the battery life and charging speed. It is a good phone because of the processor and camera. But for 500? I would rather buy a pixel 7 rather than that. I like the a lineup but it cut corners that I can't compromise.
I have the Pixel 6 Pro (worst mistake of my life). I won't go into that here. It makes perfect sense to me why Pixel is trying to position themselves as the iPhone alternative. Pixel is the Android that is most like iPhone. It's the halfway point between the iOS walled garden & Android's freedom. Customization is severely limited, although not to the extent of iOS. You can customize certain things using Material You and its gross pastels. That's it. You can't change the font style, only the size & boldness. Even with an alternative launcher, you can't change system colors & you can't change the font style anywhere on the phone. Also, some of Google's own apps & services look & work better on other Android phones, just like they do on iPhone. Samsung's take on Material You is implemented much better, plus you have the option to not use it. I had an iPhone for a year & I much prefer that over this hunk of junk.
I also purchased the AICE3 air conditioner, and I must say it's really cooling! After upgrading the firmware, some features have been continuously improved. My favorite is the AI mode, which automatically adjusts the temperature. I've been wearing it whenever I go out these days. 😁😁
I honestly don't know why people like google phones mine Lags and my speakers on it broke quickly and not to forget to mention the battery is Awful... just get Apple or Samsung instead
Hey Wade stop being so hard on Motorola they are improving especially with the new Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 and I think with there Razr phones as well 😂 haha!!!
I disagree with you about Motorola... Their Edge 2022 is one of the better mid rangers out there...30W fast charging, 15W reverse charging, and 5W wireless...6.6" display, narrow form factor... It's a win for me, and the price tag! $249 at Best Buy currently...no, it doesn't have all the updates, but it promises 3 years of OS, and 4 years bi-monthly security... I'm good with all of that!😊
Do agree a little. They always seem to put in good specs and undercut the competition on price. They just have the downside of taking almost a year to get the latest OS update and poor camera processing.
Motorola phones aren't rubbish some models offer everything u need for a very reasonable price IMHO they offer something for everyone and i wouldn't hesitate to buy one or to recommend a moto brand
Feel sad for customers in the US. In other counties or regions, for midrange smartphone, customers have so many choices: Nova (Huawei), OnePlus, Reno & realme (OPPO), IQQO (vivo), Redmi (Xiaomi), and Meizu, etc.
Unfortunately, Chinese origin from any manufacturer (sans OnePlus) is what made carriers hesitate about that tho, the US legal hammer will strike them.
I'm an Android fanatic but no I wouldn't buy Pixel 7a. Yes the camera is No.1 and its software support. But those huge bezels and small 6.1" and slow charging are deal breakers for me. A Pixel 7a+ should be released by Google with 6.55" inch OLED 120Hz adaptive screen with smaller bezels and at least 50W charging speed then Samsung OnePlus Xiaomi Honor Poco etc would have some serious competition here in EU.
I've found that most people tend to forget that the S21 FE exists and is currently almost the same price as this Pixel 7a. Not to mention a smartphone like the OnePlus 10 Pro or the standard S22, even the S21 Plus remains a very very good option against this Pixel 7a. 🙏🏽
Who are the audiences for pixel phones exactly? Not gamers, cuz these phones are glitchy. Also, not for normal people who use for just social and messaging cuz the battery life on pixels is hot sh*t garbage 🗑️ and they have no headphone jack option. Your so much better off buying poco or Redmi 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Pixel a device is stupid, not that it's a bad phone, but it's their own fault for cannabilizing their sales. I said the same thing last year, and this year, they need to lower their price further. You can find a pixel 7 for $449-$499. That's why Google doesn't really show interest yet because why would people buy an inferior device for the same price, but mark my word once the pixel 8 series come out, they will discount pixel 7a at $399 and just like the pixel 7 the pixel 8 will go on sale for $449 and pixel 7a on sales for $299-$349 and they will make it look like a steal in deal because they won't be selling the pixel 7 anymore, I just agree they should sell their flagships for 2 year instead of releasing their a series, probably they will increase their $599 phone to $699 to make their a series look like a steal and deal. I'll always say get the pixel 7 because a few months later, you would be able to find that for $299-$349, and at a very similar cost, there is no reason of getting the inferior device. To be honest, lowering the price slightly is a better choice than making cuts, If they tried to make it the lite version of a pixel 7 pro, then there would be some reason to buy it, why get the inferior device.
Harsher than usual in this one, but I feel like Google is making a mistake 🤷♂

Don't know why that phone is not talked about bcuz it's a great phone, not talking anything away from the pixel(bcuz I own the 7 and 7 pro) but the OP has a smooth UI and BEAUTIFUL screen and the OPbuds pro 2's the sound is great
@@levil4012 Well most of the content creators that I follow or know about have reviewed it and gave out information on it. It no longer being available directly from T-Mobile is an issue though. 🤷🏿♂️
I mean let's go all the way back to the Nexus program, hardware is an afterthought for Google and is a negligible part of their top line revenue. I mean yes since the 6 series it feels like they're "trying" a bit more. But on the whole their advertising, release schedules and pricing scheme leaves me scratching my head lol.😂
Would you get this or the s23 fe. $375 for pixel vs $400 for s23 fe?
Pixel
@@nathansstuff1547 why? Doesn't the s23 fe offer more for your money?
I agree Google could destroy every budget phone maker with their A series
My girl has the 7a and I tried using it and that shit lags so badly it’s so unusable and I come from an iPhone SE second gen
@@thebesta.i6681you capping my pixel 7a is buttery smooth. That iPhone only has 60hz
@@thebesta.i6681Sounds faulty. Using one right now and it barely ever stutters, even in the Australian summer
where can i get that wallpaper?
I brought a OnePlus. One of a handful of OnePlus loyalist.
Yeah I'm not sure why he thinks you can't get Oneplus phones in the US.
The pixel line of products are the best for the price and love my 7pro. I don't miss the Samsung with GB's bloat ware. Pixel for the win.
The phone does a pretty good job on its own to convince. No need for excess marketing with a good product.
How do you turn on the call screening feature on my Pixel 7A? Thank you! Great video.
I have Pixel 3a and I have it on there. I don't think you have to turn it on, it's just there. I love it by the way!
To Samsung, you make phones for every price point for affordability
and that's great!! However your midrange a series should improve on the previous series and not just look good, costing around the same as iphone se or pixel a series. Which are way better in power and cameras.
just got one, feels and looks okay, its kind of chunky.... be back like in a month.
Where can I get this wallpaper from?
only that it overheats like a furnace even after just 20 mins of usage.
I like it. But it’s only available in 128gb. And no sd card slot. It’s just not enough for me.
Great review but you were a little bit bias ❤
I had a look at the 7a. It looks nice, but has the most dreadfully dull and dark display. This put me right off buying one . Without a good display a phone, tablet or TV is nothing.
To be fair, Motorola does make decent phones. The specs they offer for the price is generally pretty great, but obviously the slow updates and bad camera software are pretty damn off-putting
I love my pixel 7A !
Overheating, battery drain, thicker bezels, 128GB of storage, slow charging speed, $499, no thanks.
I have a pixel 7 pro and I will not buy other Brands phones again ! I love it
Ice 3 is AI powered?
If you ever compare these phones to Redmi or poco devices (xiaomi) and when I say these, I'm referring to moto, pixel, OnePlus nord, etc devices you will understand how much you are getting ripped off. There just so much you get with those devices- battery charger in box, 3.5 mm option, AMOLED display, battery life lasting all day and doesn't actually drain a lot on idle I could go on and on
In truth, Motorola has much better phones for the price range though...
Battery life and speed of charging is a major let down for me.
I pay 250 dolars in 6a last week in Google Store

Tell us how you really feel!!!!
Is that wallpaper a pixel exclusive?
Yes
A shame google can't match Apples 6 +3 years of OS updates or even Samsungs 4 +1 years. 3+2 years is poor
compare the a54 ($350) to the pixel 7a ( at $444)
Google has never made money from their smartphones and that is probably not the point.
Great Video but i say but you didn't see Pixel 6 pro even Better for the price 300 $ OMG that's the Best Device for know compere them please.
This is the best phone reviewing channel by a country mile
Reason I never got the 7a was the battery life and charging speed. It is a good phone because of the processor and camera. But for 500? I would rather buy a pixel 7 rather than that. I like the a lineup but it cut corners that I can't compromise.
0:20..........
They are following samsungs' lead on this.....
ANYONE remember the NOTE.....?
Yeah we do and we miss it!
Help me to get that wallpaper
Great insights. Thanks for your efforts.
What would you recommend of buying OnePlus 10 Pro or Pixel 7a?
@@mustafahussainmohsin320 S23 Ultra, if too high then S23 Plus, better efficiency than both
I also purchased the AICE3 air conditioner, and I must say it's really cooling!
Only your preview worth watching like a movie taking all my attention
Some of the Motorola phones are good I used them for work like GPS and they're good work phones
I like mine…
I think some Motorola phones are good depending on the year and model they are good work phone
Pixel 7a and 7 screen are the same just different sizes right?
Hey Wade stop being so hard on Motorola they are improving especially with the new Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 and I think with there Razr phones as well 😂 haha!!!
Thanks for another informative video ❤
Dude are you paid by apple why so much negativity to this.
There is also a New Moto G Power Out Now for 2023.
i only use google and samsung phones❤
this guy is super negative lol. If you are picky enough to talk about bezel ration than spend more on a phone.
I like all smartphones, google, Apple ore even blackberry.
Same with cars aswell
Love your review
Google must solve the problems with voLTE and 5g signal globally and then it can demonstrate who Google is. Until then........
Motorola phones aren't rubbish some models offer everything u need for a very reasonable price IMHO they offer something for everyone and i wouldn't hesitate to buy one or to recommend a moto brand
Have you use it? They got good specs but you gonna find rubbish when you actually use it and compare it with other devices...
@@rq7247 I've had Motorola phones and still use one I would buy and recommend them as I stated
Look at those bezels.....geeze
The shipping speed disappointed me
Man this guy really hates Motorola 😂😂😂
That neckband looks absolutely gash
Mate theres nothing wrong with motorola
Feel sad for customers in the US. In other counties or regions, for midrange smartphone, customers have so many choices: Nova (Huawei), OnePlus, Reno & realme (OPPO), IQQO (vivo), Redmi (Xiaomi), and Meizu, etc.
Unfortunately, Chinese origin from any manufacturer (sans OnePlus) is what made carriers hesitate about that tho, the US legal hammer will strike them.
please review the tecno camon 20 series
I reviews say the 7a is trash, right now.
Wtf is this guys problem with moto, it's way better than a crappy SE iPhone
mountain??
🙏🏽
Yeah but samsung got display issues
So id stay away from those
The S21 FE has heating problems, mediocre battery life, cameras not as good as the 7A and it's much older
Pixels have horrible battery life and overheat doing basic tasks like browsing on Chrome or taking selfies. At least the Pixel 6 Pro does.
@@BryWeasley what would you recommend of buying OnePlus 10 Pro or Pixel 7a?
hat would you recommend of buying OnePlus 10 Pro or Pixel 7a?
I am more of a battery life guy keeps me away from pixel
