I hab the 50mm for a short time. Did not like it due to the weak 1.33 anamorph effect paired with aggressive in your face blue streak flare. I ended up with the Vazen 40mm. Soo much nicer. Yep, more expensive (although very cheap used at the moment) and extremely heavy. But the 1.33 Siruis just did not make sense for me.
Thanks for the video Shane. You know I am a big fan of your videos, right? Hope you won't take this the wrong way when I say that myabe you could use a different picture profile when shooting the ladies next time. Their skin came out pretty saturated in the shots of them, especially near the highlights on their faces. That's one of the great things about Panasonic V-LOG when compared to some of the other picture profiles. V-LOG really rolls-off the highlights nicely (and I think it better suits the vibe of an anamorphic lens, too.). Anyway, just my two cents. Thanks again, and always looking forward to your next video.
I bought a used one, but i noticed that when focusing the background splits into 2 images, yes literally like a ghost separating from the body that goes in and out as u dial the focus ring, does that happen on yours too? And very bad in low light conditions I have to crank my iso to 20,000 in a campfire setting and thereby introducing artifacts in post and vr-denoise just makes the image look worse, do u think there's something wrong with this used sirui 35mm? Or is that just how it is? Thanks!
These lenses are much better on the GH5S or Pocket 4k. The bigger MFT sensor still gives a wider FOV than the normal GH5/GH6 sensors and the dual iso is also better for low light. As a G9 owner the Photo mode/opengate doesn’t get it as wide as the Pocket 4k or GH5 footage, FYI. APSC would be even better for these lenses even with a 16.9 sensor. The 35mm can work on both MFT and APSC with a $19 screw on adaptor.
I'm really interested in the carbon-fibre Sirui Saturn FF 35mm for L-mount, though will probably get one of these cheaper x1.33 lenses first for either L-mount or m4/3. Also the x1.25 adapter, which I thought I'd try with my Sigma 50-100mm 82mm-filter zoom via MC-21. No idea what to expect. I noticed that some filmmakers were using Nisi magnification filters to workaround the long mfd.
Does the old GH5 have the ability to desqueeze 1.33x aspect ratio or just 2x? I’ve looked everywhere in the settings and can only find 1.33x for stabilization. I’m fairly certain I have the latest firmware installed as well. The only way I can get the image to look right is by leaving anamorphic mode off and desqueezing on.
Hey Shane, nice video! The 35mm lens would behave like a 70mm lens on a full-frame sensor because the Panasonic camera uses MFT. I have a formula for a 2x crop factor used for spherical lenses. Does the same formula apply to anamorphic lenses as well?
The Siuri 1.33 lens set is not designed for a Full Frame field of view but is designed for a maximum APSC field of view. APSC is 1.5 - 1.6 crop and MFT is 2.0 crop from FF. This means it's a difference of 0.5 crop so it is not as drastic a crop when compared to if you were using a FF anamorphic lens on a MFT sensor.
It will fit on the original G9. I am not sure that cameras has Anamorphic de-squeeze though. Just check if it has a dedicated option for that. If not you can still use it, but the image will be squished horizontally.
Was a pleasure being a "model" for you in this video Shane hehe 😜 Such a sick camera love the beach shots too 😍🥰
You're the best! Thanks, for helping out :)

Also good to know that Lumix is about the only company that has anamorphic Stabilization which corrects for the different distortion pattern!

I went for a more saturated look on the beach shots as the light was very grey and boring. :) VLOG is beautiful on the GH6, no doubt about it.

Great review again, those colors look super cool. I'm wondering if I can use this lens on my Lumix gh4 as I need to shoot anamorphic
If the GH4 has an anamorphic mode, this will work on it. I never used one of those cameras before but I know it will 100% work on the GH5 and above.
Very nice video, thanks. What is the focal length equivalent on MFT? I use very ofter the Pana 20 and 25mm
you still get the 2x crop so it's 70mm.
You shot open gate? Sorry I must have missed that part.

Yes, it's a 70mm focal length but the field of view is wider once you de-squeeze.
Great video! I’m interested in the M4/3 24mm. Does that become a 48mm since my camera has a crop factor of 2.0? Thanks.

@@mrclarenceboddicker6173 thanks!
Some great shots. Nice review. This lens is compatible with the G85?
It will work with the G85, but you won't be able to see it without the squeeze in camera at the time of filming.
Will it also work on the original Panasonic G9?
It will fit on the original G9. I am not sure that cameras has Anamorphic de-squeeze though. Just check if it has a dedicated option for that. If not you can still use it, but the image will be squished horizontally.
can you use this on sny e lens like a7iii with adapter?
I am pretty sure there's e-mount versions of this. Check the links I posted, it should come up with all the options.
hav you try this with gh7?
Not yet, but I will be re-testing it soon. It's on my list
