Julia, you are as unique and charming as Stephen and his friends! I admire your courage to put out a utube video, enjoy your calm, honest approach to your creation, and wish you all the best. Enjoy!
I made a Boneyard Shawl for my mom last Christmas. I used 4.5 skeins of Malabrigo Rios. She loves it. It got a little boring to me as it got further along. It’s definitely a classic.
Hi, Julia! Thank you for this video 🤗😘 I will now begin this shawl too😉 The colour is lovely and I think it is perfect for you 😍 By the way: give the other patterns of Stephen a try. It's worth it and you can choose lighter colours or even not so much different colours if you want to. Greetings from Germany 👋, Katja
I JUST finished this shawl a few days ago...I have totally fallen in love with Stephen West. I used Rowan worsted and used 550 grams...a good winter shawl...could not get over how BIG this is and I haven't blocked it yet. Just what I was looking for...love your color.
Oh, nice to hear that. Congrats on your new shawl! I think some day I'll do one big worsted or bulky winter boneyard shawl too. You know, to snuggle on the windowsill.
I love your honesty re fashion vs everyday people! I’m not adventurous in colour ways like his shawls or hats .. and when I make them I make them “subtle” Stephen often models his own shawls n hats on his website and very colourful and stunning, which I’m not as “bold”.. currently working on his honeycomb shawl in DK which I’ll gift as a fund raiser prize, so there numerous colour ways and “pops” as he calls them.. in DK I agree with you on the icord it is a little weighty but in fingering or fine weights it makes a super lovely finish and helps maintain the structure and adds to the flow of the garment .. thanks for your honest input as this is one I was unsure of making for myself in blues n greys .. feel a little more positive to make it now as it’s simplicity knitting watching tv on our very cold nights down under! 🇦🇺 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing, Mark. Good luck with the fund raising! If I make one of Steven's shawls, I think I would at least choose less colours and probably they all would be grey, blue, beige and so on)
make the I cord bind off its quite easy and I've made several and love the I cord bind off. he has a tutorial to make the I cord bind off for the boneyard
I am working on the Boneyard now. I am probably 75% finished. I had a hard time just casting on. Once I got the hang of it, I love it. I'm not done but I am already planning another one. I want this one to be huge. I am on my fourth skein of yarn and I ordered three more. I can't wait to wear it.
I feel the same about West's designs: not everybody can pull off his more flamboyant patterns. I'm knitting the Boneyard Shawl myself now, in a gray DK acrylic yarn. Will I finish it?
I just found you site and I love your headband. Can you share the pattern for it? I have been knitting a long time but I still knit simple things to donate. I think I may be able to make the headband. I am a senior lady and I enjoy your video.

Fourth skein! Wow! I guess a huge shawl is comfortable like a cloud)
@@juliapietarista I'm on my fifth skein. Only because I feel that with four skeins a game of yarn chicken is inevitable.

Hi! Thanks so much! I didn't use any pattern, but I was inspired by the Simone headband by Emilie Luis, it's on Ravelry.
Espero nos puedas explicar en español
I also made one then ripped it back.....not came about as interesting as i expected
