Ong, and besides, that stance is sick asf and if they're not gonna complain about E-Honda literally throwing himself head first at people then why are they complaining about Akuma doing a sick pose before performing acts of *literal magic*
@OTRBRANDON yea, but VF is the closest thing we have to a fighting Sim. I would definitely be intrigued to see what they say about moves in those games.
I don't know if the editor just had nothing to work with, but that part of the video definitely felt like they were trying to wrap it up to hit 11 minutes lol
@@ektrfirefox2571 Given that most fighters use real fighting styles, I’d say maybe 70%. Not necessarily the specials and supers, but most normal attacks have some basis in reality. You just need to be able to recognize it. Ryu, Ken and the other Shoto-clones use a variation of karate, Balrog, Dudley and Ed are boxers, Sagat and Adon practice Muay Thai; I could go on forever listing the styles used in SF. If you do your research, you’ll see that there is some realism in the series.
@@tcsa872 don't be delusional. I am truly not trying to hate on the game by any mean.i truly love sf6. I honestly think that a good fg game needs to be a balance between fantasy and realism otherwise it's boring. But excluding the obvious comical characters like dhalsim, blanka, aki, bison ,even the characters you mentioned I can only safely say that ed is the only more realistic animated one with legit combos like his 1,1,1 which translates to a traditional one two cross or his flicker stance when you keep in check with his 3 target combo, peekaboo "rush",or superman punch. All the other characters are "inspired" by martial arts. For example I can for sure tell you that juri uses not even one actual taekwondo kick. As for Dudley or barlog etc.. they are ok but they are not in the game . Anyway I think 70% is way too generous
@@ektrfirefox2571 most of the character's normals (buttons) are actually realistic moves that are mocapped, but for some reason, the producers decide to show them supers and stupid shit like that.
I think the way the characters were showcased wasn't great. Some were doing combos, others were doing supers, and some were getting smacked around. Still a good video though
They should have shown some characters more, especially Ed, they only showed flicker jab then Level 3, which is nowhere close to a lot of his cool boxing moves. Gamology needs to think about the compilations to put together, they need to go back to the old style. If he was a little more non monetone he would probably be good, but he has some knowledge of martial arts but it's on Gameology to give them the information not to have them try to find it out by showing them stuff that won't even show what style they use

With Juri, it's not how hard she hits that causes a problem. It's how many times she hits you. She may not hit like a truck, but she'll hit you ten times for every one time a bruiser would hit you.
Ive seen Juris one leg up style in WTF Tae Kwon Do. Since theres no takedown and no ground attacks balance isnt as much of a factor. The people I saw used it as a counter heavy style and either switched kicked to their back leg when approached, using it as a lure, or went over the attack with their front leg to hit the head. The leg also works as a semi block since its hard to reach the target areas in TKD that way. You need to be really flexible to pull it off though and like Gemma commented it often takes away from power but that isnt a big problem in point fighting.
Always appreciate Gemma here...don't know why we brought this guy on to tell us that videogame characters are "fantastical" and "not realistic", kinda figured that part on my own...
Drunken Fist is actually a legitimate traditional style of Kung Fu (I forget the proper Chinese name for it sadly) and practitioners of the style actually have to abstain from drinking because the moves are too complex to perform if one is inebriated.
Correct one of my friends who is Chinese-American actually practices Drunken Fist and she told me that being inebriated and still able to preform those moves is pure fiction and one of the rules her Shifu gave her was no drinking actual alcoholic beverages to the point where you're actually drunk because the moves are too hard to preform if you're drunk.
This is always enjoyable and I love their inputs on whether or not it may be realistic or simply giving them the cool points! Hope to see them react to Virtua Fighter 4 or 5 and have them figure out the characters’ fighting style, some of the MOST traditional styles ever and I love it
The disrespect towards Dee Jay, Cammy, Kimberly and Jammie was ridiculous. But I appreciate that they said the ART side of Marshall arts being represented is great. That said WHOEVER IS BEHIND THIS LET THESE STUNT PERFORMERS KNOW THE ART THE CHARACTER DOES AND THEIR BACKSTORY CAUSE JAYSUS!
Only John Liu and his master, Dorian Tan, ever fought using Juri Han's hopping style IRL. Bill "Superfoot" Wallace came close to it, using his lead leg to block high attacks like a third arm, but he didn't stay on one foot for long. Jhun Hoon from King Of Fighters also uses the hopping style, compared to Kim Kaphwan, his rival Tae Kwon Do stylist who uses a more traditional, grounded wide bouncy stance.
Can confirm what Gemma says about flexibility. I'm hyper flexible due to a genetic condition and doing a leg kick as taught in Muay Thai caused me to dislocate at the knee
yall dont think juri has power because whoever the recorded didnt show off her heavy moves nor any of her specials. Her heavy punch and heavy kick wouldve been interesting for you to see and comment on. i wish they would just hit each button and do each special and each super for these so you guys could give more commentary instead of just just having footage or a guy playing in the background doing one shit combo and a grab
I feel like they should have reacted to the cutscenes of the player character learning the styles. That would have been a better way to actually show off the techniques and styles of characters. Chun-li's is her literally demonstrating her form to you and allowing you to follow her moves. Ryu shows the character practing his form while he observes. Honda actually shows him doing Sumo and training you to learn it.
Legit, why the fuck is the editing in these videos so nonsensical. Do you guys not time with what your people are seeing? One person goes "Oh nice hook kick" and then it zooms in a shoryuken. Then they go "nice step kick" and then it cuts to Marisa chokeslamming someone.

cool video. kinda wish ed got more attention and in depth analysis especially with the whole flicker punches situation he’s got and general boxing form. not much explanation either of certain moves that were practical so i couldnt tell exactly what they were talking about tbh.

In particular Episode 3 Hitomi vs. Tifa which is the best episode that showcases pure martial arts as it's Karate expert Hitomi who uses a style she learned as a little girl from the brutal training she did under her father which is Shotokan Karate with elements of Kyokushin Karate with some Ninja Training under Hayate namely how to fight when blinded and body control in the form of restricting blood flow when poisoned or injured in some massive way vs. Tifa(still don't have a concrete idea on her exact martial arts style as FF7, Crisis Core, FF7: Remake, Crisis Core: Reunion, and FF7: Rebirth never gave a exact idea of the martial arts style her uncle taught her).
@derrickhaggard 100% agree that Part 3 is the specific eposode they should watch. Hitomi is actually a Master of multiple styles of Martial Arts from around the World (somewhere around DoA 4, 5 or 6, i cant remember which one but, it is mentioned in her bio). After she's blinded by Tifa, she actually switches up to use Wing Chung, a Chinese style of Martial Arts made famous by Ip Man and his student Bruce Lee, but was actually invented by a woman. You are right though, in every FF game I've ever played, I've never found a reference to the style of Martial Arts Tifa uses and I've literally looked through every piece of lore I could find, it only says that her Uncle taught her to fight.
incorrect presentation, @Gamology. you should've shown them SF6's Characters' movelists. especially their special moves and normal throws. that'll make the commentary more relevant. i mean, what do actual martial artists have anything to do with juggle combos?
The flexibility, balance, and form required for ballet can indeed translate to combat, so it stands to reason that Manon is an Olympian judoka. Course, it also makes axe kicks and various poking kicks easier and practical if you already have a foundation. That said, practical kicks involve bringing your leg in to "chamber" it before actually kicking forward, hence why Ryu's Joudan Sokuto Geri (donkey kick) always hits so damn hard. Manon doesn't typically do that. She does do a few good leaping kicks and sweeps, and having her judo background means she can do a lot more.
The entire thing about Akuma's stance is to do with the Kongorikishi or Nio, these two hulking, permanently pissed off guardians of the Buddha.
Thank you. Dude talking shit about a stance that he clearly doesn’t know history about
