    I thinking Bowers and Wilkins ok Musi but also Zeppelin (old stand alone and new platform system) can you daisy chain and add additional units or like the BW elements and subwoofers. Is it 360 sound in design or directional. i’m thinking big table or low furniture dividing an open plan living dining kitchen area to just a TV seems overkill. Glowing light system clever innovation but could get annoying in a darkened room under a telly,

    Just what the world needed. More lifestyle products from Sonus faber. This one at least does not cost $15K like the SF16. But it does look a lot cheaper and cheaply made. Also, no native Qobuz support. A head-scratcher! I miss the Serblin days. I own a pair of Elipsas SE's and it pains me to see what the company has become now. I get the fact that they need to adapt to the times, but other brands are doing just fine not following trends nor catering to every possible demographic. I feel that in order to get the SF sound and aesthetics I really love I need to look into the used market. The only really beautiful product they have released in the last few years was the Il Cremonese Extreme. And do not get me started on that ultra-cheesy promo video they did for this... Oh boy...

      I wouldn't be so quick to dis a life style product from any number of companies.
      Just finished restoring a Bang and Olufsen 6500 system (four pieces) from 1990. My first time having ANY B&O gear. I can tell you first hand, the design concept was ahead of it's time, and who ever heard of being able to totally remote control a cassette player? lol. The functionality of the optional control panel remote is pretty impressive too. (it runs on FOUR D batteries!)
      The sound through a pair of new Klipsch towers I find outstanding considering the age of the system. Yes, and I do have an 'upscale' system in a dedicated space, but I can appreciate other types of systems for what they are as well.

      Simply put, this one is not for you, and from the sounds of it, neither is the rest of the line. I have been a fan of Sonus faber since the late 80s, but to say that Franco's designs were better is way too simplistic and in my opinion totally wrong.

      @@adrianlow2114 We would have to agree to disagree. Respectfully, you sell the line, so I completely understand that you feel the way you do. I have been a fan since the original Extrema as well. At that time, my dream was to own the Concertino. The new company is run by bean-counters and they simply want to be a jack of all trades, releasing new products way too frequently and flirting with a lifestyle brand and social media "hipness" that usually falls flat and is off mark, in a charming, laughable manner that only Italians can achieve. I respect them, certainly, and even understand their reasoning. Perhaps that **is** the only way to survive in today's climate. I am Italian as well, and can even sympathize a bit with the melodramatic, uber-cheesy video they produced to promote this new glorified soundbar (and, let's admit it, that is what the Omnia really is). But nothing will change my mind when I say that, with Serblin at the helm, we at least had a coherent vision, and truly gorgeous designs and beautiful (if not perhaps accurate) sounding speakers. I bought the Elipsa SE (Red), which I realize is not fully a Serblin design, because they were the closest thing to the Stradivaris I could afford. Nothing they have released since has really convinced me to "upgrade", and that is both discouraging and comforting. The new Guarneri, for example, is simply a shadow of the first 2 generations. It is an Olympica I camouflaged in a nicer skin. I respect your opinion, which is not surprising, but I am not alone. I do wish them well. Livio and the rest of the Team are really nice guys. I am happy for them. Just wish they had created a different line for all this lifestyle stuff. Hopefully this will not go the way of the Pryma headphones...

      @@estebanmedaglia4506 Hi Esteban, disagreements are a fact of life, and indeed can be very good. I was a dealer for the Serblin products as well, and owned many. Certainly the new ownership expects to make a profit, why else be in business? Franco made a nice profit also, both when he ran the business AND when he sold.
      The new products reflect the vision of the designers (Livio, Paolo and others) as well as the needs of consumers today. Paolo's musical references are somewhat different than Franco's, not surprising due to the age difference.
      I didn't enjoy Rock, Metal and large scale music as much with the early Sonus fabers, though small scale music and voices were sublime.
      Products like Omnia allow existing Sonus faber clients to continue to buy their products and support the company, and also reach out to other potential new clients. As I said in the review, I don't know if it is the best in the category, certainly not the cheapest. But I like it very much, for what it is

      @@adrianlow2114 Hi Adrian. Points well taken. I still feel that the brand lost its "path", so to speak, but, as I said in the previous post, I can understand the reasons why. I wish they had opted for a sub-division, or different name. For example: "Omnia (by Sonus Faber)". I do realize they tried this with Pryma and it looks like it did not work, maybe because the headphones got mostly negative reviews, but the strategy does seem to work for most fashion brands. "Love Moschino", for example. But I must confess that this is the type of product that makes me loose interest in the brand, as I am still holding my breath for something that sounds and looks like a Stradivari (the closest we got was the Il Cremonese Extreme) and instead we keep getting things like the Omnia or the Luminas, which in my humble opinion look terrible. Even the new Homage series looks like a flimsy, lower end imitation of the original two generations, and the design language does not flow as well. In any case, nothing is forever, none of this is really surprising, and the music is the only thing that should matter.

    It seems it would be fair for you to compare this to a Bluesound Powernode and a pair of say $700 speakers. The Powernode allows ARC and has a great app. The only area where I expect the Omnia will come out on top is that it has Chromecast. But my rea think on viewing the video is that I expect more from Audio Excdllence on sound quality. My reaction to the unit is check out Naim, Bluesound, HiFi Rose if sound quality matters to you

    • @adrianlow2114
      @adrianlow2114 2 роки тому +1

      You miss the point. This is meant to be an all-in-one unit, not a mini component system. I pointed out early on in the video that a well chosen system may indeed sound better. However if you don't want to have multiple pieces, or do not have the option, the Omnia is a very good alternative

      Yep! I wanna see a comparison between the Sonus Faber Omnia VS Powernode + 2 Floorstanders VS Devialet Phantom. I'm kinda intrigued by the DSP correction on the Omnia and the Devialet. In many scenarios the DSP will give a huge advantage.

      I... disagree! This unit comes with 7 drivers, a DAC, a Streamer, DSP correction and an amp. These things cost a lot of money when bought separately. The closest competitor is the Devialet Phantom which sells for $1850 and comes with a stand and a carrying bag. I am sure that this Sonus Faber system will come down in price too. Sure, the obvious "budget" alternative is a set of powered speakers for < $500. But you'll get way fewer features.

    McIntosh unveiled two ripoffs of the Naim Muso range recently, and the McIntosh devices have the same drawback as this one. They haven't the expertise to develop their own control software and so a buyer is limited to third-party apps like Chromecast and Tidal Connect. These streaming products live or die by the software element; there is a natural limit to how they can compete on sound quality because of the small enclosure. If you want a device like this, check out Naim because they have years of hard-won experience with their own control software

      I have listened to them both in our local music shop and I'd decided to buy the Sonus Faber Omnia than the Muso because it sounded more pleasant to me than the Muso. Smooth, immersive and lifelike. Not to mention its design and build quality. A lot more beautiful and luxurious compared to the boxy industrial design of the Muso. Yes it has no dedicated software yet but it will come as future software update arrives. I've been using it for the past two months and so far it is solid and reliable.
