  • This is my video review for the NEW Sonus faber Omnia All in One Wireless Speaker system that you can play music from Tidal, Spotify or other services using Chrome Cast Airplay Bluetooth and more. Its a very lovely thing and sounds much much bigger and better than I was expecting and it made me question the difference between this and a HiFi system. It filled my room with sound in a similar fashion to how a hiFi system would and it plays very loud with lots of good bass and composure and clarity to its sound. Its a really very surprising unit in terms of the sound it can deliver.

    I have the original Naim Muso which I used as my speaker setup while I built my system (which took 4 years). I was surprised how good this kind of solution is, but the area it fell flat was imaging and soundstage. But for a convenience system in the kitchen or bedroom I think they're fantastic.

    Outstanding as always Terry. Having owned a Bose SoundDock 10 for over a decade I am intrigued by the Omnia. Obviously neither would replace a dedicated 2 channel stereo system but for rooms where you don't have or can't put a 2 channel system, these are viable options. My old Bose still sounds great and currently rocks my main bathroom quite well (See AUSSIE's comment below). Keep up the great work.

    Hi Terry, really interesting to get a review of a superb looking, great sounding all-in-one product like this. It's good to know these products exist, and can be an entertaining alternative in any room. From a marketing perspective, which came first, the Sonus Faber Omnia, or the (just-add-speakers) Audiolab Omnia ? Cheers, Paul.

    I was quite intrigued by the iFi audio Aurora. I ended up buying one I think they run for about 1700 US and it's a great piece in my Bedroom with great sound and great convenience. Oddly enough sometimes I get to where I don't really want to turn on my hifi but I noticed with the aurora it's always playing something

      It has great sound. Very natural sounding, especially great for acoustics. Bass can be good given a good source. There’s no extra “oomph” to its rendition, but very clear, crisp and honest.
      Very iffy design implementation - usb is mostly useless (did you manage to get the sd card to run consistently?) and the tube, while very cool for its warm sounds, is a possible headache. How will you get that replaced? Where do you take it? Then again, I guess by that time warranty would be expired anyway, so opening and voiding should not be an issue.

    • @Audiorevue
      @Audiorevue Рік тому

      Right there are some design considerations to consider and overall for me personally my opinion on build quality is that it's acceptable for the money paid. have I seen better built objects, yes but at the same time I think for the custom design and the look of the thing which was a big thing for me and the space that I was wanting to put it I I'm quite happy with it. to be honest with you I typically use it in a Bluetooth type configuration and I haven't really used a whole lot of its inputs.
      In that way that I use it it sounds fantastic and I don't really think about it sound quality aspect as much as I do with my hi-fi just because I suppose I'm not expecting all that much out of it so therefore I don't really think about it. that said though your description would be apt, but I would add that the bass can be a bit bloated to me more of what I call a modern sound to appeal to young people.
      as to the tube replacement I don't necessarily see that being an issue per se just because I had actually contacted them about tube replacement as sort of a general question. anyway they told me that it's a preamp tube so it's used very sparingly and very lightly and they also said that furthermore it's running at about 3/4 of its input capacity, so therefore the life out of that thing is ridiculous. I mean we're probably talking over a decade or two

    • @kencur9690
      @kencur9690 Рік тому

      @@Audiorevue really? That’s strange: I really didn’t feel the bass bloated at all! Quite natural and pleasing, actually. If anything, far from what the young want and look for. What music do you listen to? I find it best with Jazz and Classical. Also, what source? Bluetooth is not at all bad on this, though I think WiFi is audibly better. Why don’t you set a server? You know the thing is dlna/UPnP so it’s fairly straightforward. One issue in implementation, again, is limitation to the 2.4 band, but I don’t know whether that’s an issue for you.
      Yes, I believe it’s 100,000 hrs for tube life expectancy. That’s a lot of time, as you say, but still, many people use speakers which are even older than that, so it’s still a potential annoyance. I wouldn’t want to end with a brick, but by then the warranty will have expired anyway, so it should be easy to replace.

    You mentioned the bass. But your room looks highly treated. How does it sound in an untreated room which is more likely usage case for single box speakers such as this?

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  Рік тому +3

      No-one can tell you exactly how anything will sound in any given room because they are all different and sound hinges so much on speaker placement in the room too which is always different again. However for bass if you place the OMNIA somewhere sensible it puts out a lot of bass and that will be the same as in my room, how tight and controlled that bass is will be room dependent, because of the room not the OMNIA

Truth is, I've seen one advertised on Audiogone...I would have bought it, but, as an Israeli resident, I couldn't...the seller won't ship it to my country. • @zvonimirtosic6171
      @zvonimirtosic6171 2 місяці тому

      I think Crescendo allows for that as well, plus loudness setting in the Omnia app, keeping the tonal picture accurate for listening at low volumes. Usually, all-in-one systems are much better at that than "separate components hifi systems".

    Great video. Audiophiles might still want a lifestyle product for other rooms in the house than a listening room. What I'm interested is how the Omnia or Naim Muso could be improved with expensive power and network cables. I was recently present in a demo by Shunyata showing their diffrent lines of power cables and conditioners with all in one super-integrated Naim Unity Nova. The result were striking. The Nova improved drastically in all aspects with each step in the Shunyata product line. Bigger improvement than any other component I've heard. A single cable drasticaly improves the amplifier section as well as the build in steamer and dac section all at once. Do you have any good power cable around to test with? The Omnia with expensive power cable could be a good solution for an audiophile with cost less of an object than space and lifestyle considerations (read girlfriend approval requirement). What do you think Terry?

    It's probably good enough for sound from your phone / tablet etc, but not good enough for full on studio monitor sound quality that you get from a pair of ATC SCM ASL loudspeakers. Then just as the warranty runs out, it will break down.

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  2 роки тому +2

      Its not going to compete with full on high end speakers and amplifier although it might deliver as much bass, maybe even more bass than some of the smaller ATC. But compared to a smaller pair of entry level speakers it will hold its own and when you think about that its pretty crazy
