5:19 May I extend on this with a more general approach? "The panoramic camera should be at the center of the object you want to light, as that object might not necessarily be at the center of the scene." Other than that great tutorial :)
@@CGShortcuts Ah yes that is indeed correct, either way baking a light setup makes most sense for product shot like scenes with the main subject in the center.
Hi Dave. Thanks for this video and the previous one about tips for quickly render with Octane. To tell the truth, I didn't understand this trick for the HDRI map. We took extra 20 seconds to make the HDRI map + 10 seconds for the new render with an HDRI map instead of area lights. But before this trick, we have waited only 22 seconds for the whole render. 30 seconds with HDRI map instead of 22 seconds with area light (and I'm not talking about time to prepare the scene for an environment render). So, where is the benefit?
@@Andreygaposhyn it should be quite obvious that this method would not work (at least not as intended) when you animate lights. Your original comment makes even less sence now.
@@ibotpl Let's talk about static lights and morph cameras. Do you know how to use this trick in this situation? I just try to find a useful situation for this trick. In most cases, you will change the lights position or using camera morph between 2-4 cameras. In my practice, shots with only one camera and static lights are rare situations. Probably you have another experience
@@Andreygaposhyn yeah, as i said; this isn't an ideal method for you, then. You can, however, still animate the rotation of the hdri sky itself. For me, this method has one big advantage; you can create your own studio lighting hdrs, which you can use in every other 3d software with exact the same lighting.
I think that when you use the baked HDRI, the final image lost some of AO (look at the shadows on the face of the model). But that's amazing after all!
The math involved in rendering this is different and it shows. i guess it can be handy when you have to get something done with a stupid deadline, but it's better to work on not getting in a situation like that instead of learning tricks like this.
Great question Pedro! As it's a bit hard to give you a good answer here in the comments, any chance you could post your question on our Facebook Group and one of our community members can give you a hand;) If you could post some screenshots of your issue too that would be super helpful! Thanks for making this video tut in response to everyone's comments from the last video! Useful tip.
Great tutorial. Used the same procedure in Blender and it worked splendidly. Thanks.

Best video tutorial content 💪🏽
Nice glad you followed this up from your last video
thanks a ton for responding to our interest. this was super helpful and is getting bookmarked for sure!
No problem Rod, we're always up for suggestions;)
I think the output resolution should have a 2:1 ratio for better sphere projection.
Yep you can do any ratio you like;)
Thanks Dave!!
No worries;)
Yeees! I was waiting for this one! Thanks!
Great teaching
No worries, loads more tutorials at cgshortcuts.com
Thank you for this Dave. You doing the lord’s work!!
haha, cheers Kevin!
That's what I needed !!Thanks dude !! You are awesome !
No problem Alfred;)
Thank u ♥ much appreciated. Thats very kind of u, last week u said you will share ♥
Very nice! Thanks, Dave!
Thanks for watching mate ;)
Thanks so much! ❤️

Yeah juist like you would a really HDRI with an actual camera
Problem is that the HDRI Environment cant be moved from the center of the world so your lighting wont match up. You can only offset the texture map
@@CGShortcuts Ah yes that is indeed correct, either way baking a light setup makes most sense for product shot like scenes with the main subject in the center.
You can maybe try and offset all scene objects to have statue right in the scene center?
hero.
very nice
Thanks a lot..❤️

joking? i hope so. if not: just think of rendering animations with hundreds of frames. it would take less than half.
@@ibotpl usually, I work with animated lights, so I need to prepare a seqence for hdri light

insane
Great tutorial Dave!
CCan I get the same result or just a closer one with just the cinema 4D physical renderer?

Its definitely not perfect, but it works for me;)
CG SHORTCUTS LISTENS
Should you bake a 4k HDRI map instead? Or it will bring up again the render time? (Great tuts by the way! )
great tutorial man! really appreciate this
Cheers mate! Glad it was helpful!
Thank You so much
Helpful tip thank you

so you only offset your scene because you had a floor? would you need to do the same thing if you didnt? say a close up shot with a black background?

1st to comment☺️
I'd love if you created a challenge for the winner to win your entire course for free😁
Lol thanks for the tutorial... but ain't nobody got time for that!
if you have an hdri already does it bake it into this? and combine lights and current hdri?
should do yeah
great
cool
ive been watching cg shortcuts for almost two years and everytime i ask myself.. is dave cgi
Yes I'm fully AI;)
Is using HDR light studio is better option than this ?
Yes HDRI Light Studio is brilliant if you can afford it ;)
Where can I get that 3D sculpture?
Scan the world
How to bake HDRI map if there're Lights and another HDRI are used in the scene?
Should work exactly the same I think
so why not move the pano cam 290 up instead of the whole scene 290 down?
Because the HDRI environment will always be at the center of the scene
help!!! How can I create that mirror like material in octane render? 😢😢😢😢
Crank up the IOR value to the extreme
Bro help me octane live viewer window is black problem is

Best contact Otoy for that one - make sure your drivers are up to date too
It's pronounced 'aitch' not 'haitch'. Primary school stuff mate, primary school.
