I was engaged to a black woman (I'm Native American, but look "white" to those who only see skin color) back in the mid-2000s. I loved her and her kids to the moon and back. I'd have done anything for them. It sadly didn't work out, but I love them all to this day. At no point did I think about anyone's skin color, excepting for two scenarios. When I'd inevitably go to visit some of her family I'd not been introduced to yet, there'd be the "who's the white boy?", "why's there a cr*cker in the living room?", "why aren't you with that handsome black man you used to date?", "you trust that white boy with your kids?", and so on. Only her grandpa (he had a white grandparent) and grandma chose to merely accept me for who I was, and be happy I loved her and the kids. The second scenario was anytime the kids and I were out in public, especially if we were going to a predominantly black neighborhood, or if we went to a black-owned business. The looks, questions, accusations ("taking our black women" and so forth), and outright hatred they'd show when it was just myself and the kids was beyond what I would have believed prior to our being in a relationship. Also the black guy that recorded his white gf threatening to call the police and weaponize her whiteness all because he wanted out of the relationship (she openly stated they will believe her because she’s white). I’ve even experienced it myself here and there it’s some bs. This white chick I was seeing back in college was…looney in the head. She would mention weird 💩 to me like how she obsessively told and bragged to her family about how she’s dating a black man. She also used all sorts of manipulative tactics to try and force me to stay with her…all racial. She would always focus on my blackness and never actually me as an individual. I was genuinely afraid of that woman she was a straight stalker she knew where I lived, would show up unannounced, texted me over 100x a day, she got into my apartment few times despite security having to let you in, and would text me that she saw me certain places I was at when I never told her I was there. Cops wouldn’t do 💩 I ended up changing my number and moving…luckily that was enough to get rid of her.

Amala, I have no idea how you sit through this nonsense every day. The mere bits I hear from here and there irk me beyond belief. I was engaged to a black woman (I'm Native American, but look "white" to those who only see skin color) back in the mid-2000s. I loved her and her kids to the moon and back. I'd have done anything for them. It sadly didn't work out, but I love them all to this day.
At no point did I think about anyone's skin color, excepting for two scenarios. When I'd inevitably go to visit some of her family I'd not been introduced to yet, there'd be the "who's the white boy?", "why's there a cr*cker in the living room?", "why aren't you with that handsome black man you used to date?", "you trust that white boy with your kids?", and so on. Only her grandpa (he had a white grandparent) and grandma chose to merely accept me for who I was, and be happy I loved her and the kids. As they were the oldest, you'd figure they would be the least accepting, but that was not the case.
The second scenario was anytime the kids and I were out in public, especially if we were going to a predominantly black neighborhood, or if we went to a black-owned business. The looks, questions, accusations ("taking our black women" and so forth), and outright hatred they'd show when it was just myself and the kids was beyond what I would have believed prior to our being in a relationship.
No, I never dated her for "power", I dated her because I loved her. I'm pretty sure she did the same. People who can only think skin deep are what is wrong today.
