I am 76 y.o now, and started making pumpkin bread when i moved out of home to my own apt.....my parents at the time, thought it was the only thing i knew how to make!!😂 Yes!, it is super delicious, but it is even better (I think), with crushed walnuts or pecans!! If you really want to get fancy, add a thin icing glaze!..... so good!!

I have seven girlfriends from high school. We get together twice a year in different areas. One of us comes from Switzerland , one comes from Texas and the rest of us live in California. This is my recipe also and it is loved by many. I was an elementary secretary for many years. For years I gifted mini pumpkin bread loaves to all teachers and staff at my school. The weekend before Christmas break was a baking frenzy at my house. Some years I made up to 100 loaves. It was always a pleasure gift something homemade. My way of showing appreciation for all their hard work.

Hi,I have been making this bread for 50+ years. I always use 1/2 of the sugar,using brown sugar. I also put in raisins. At times ,I have used 1/2 butter w/ oil. Never fails to be delicious. Sometimes,I frost the loaves with a maple flavored frosting. Thanks ,for showing everyone,this great,yummy seasonal bread.

This recipe is similar if not identical to a recipe I've used for years from an 80's Pillsbury cookbook I have. I LOVE pumpkin bread. I like to add a little ground clove and pecans or walnuts. Sometimes I'll add chocolate chips or dark chocolate chunks. When I was young my mother would make pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting. Also delicious!

I just made this bread and served it to my friends. They loved it! Super moist. The only thing that I did differently was I halved the recipe, added pecans and reduced the sugar by a small amount. A keeper recipe, for sure.

Ok…let me tell you this recipe is fool proof… not a baker here. But my daughter loves pumpkin and I wanted to surprise her. I was religiously following your recipe today when the doorbell rang. Went to the door came back continued on… put the mixture in the pans turned around and the water was in the dish( I forgot to include it after the door bell) 😂Well… I just took the water poured it on top of the batter and mixed it with a spoon around in the pan. ( not recommended, but remember I told you I was not a baker) put it in the oven and baked it…….. it turned out perfectly… it did not dome on the top.. but it is beautiful! 😊
I make my Grandma's Pumpkin bread every fall. She added raisins, chopped dates and pecans, and that's my preferred style, although I have to make some plain for other family members.

Heavenly good. I added evaporated milk instead of water. I couldn't imagine adding plain water to it. I also used 1 1/2 brown sugar and 1 1/2 regular sugar

This is so awesome to watch! It brings back memories of when my late husband and I bought our house in 1980. The house was new and empty! It was a buyers market at the time ! I made one phone call and bought a house ! My hubby was very surprised when he came home work and I told him I bought a house in the country with 2 acres! He was thrilled and we moved in two weeks! I love your house and love your family! We lived in that house 38 years! My husband died in 2016. I sold our place in 2018. So many memories with our family at that acreage! Made 2 loaves. Absolutely delicious. Made it on Saturday…today is Monday, and my husband and I have almost devoured one loaf. Have to get the second one in the freezer before that one is gone 😅. Made this yummy recipe. Measured out batter going into the pan to keep them the same cooking time 4 1/2 cups into each pan. It was really moist. My son and friend said it was the best they ever had thank you.

The images we've seen coming from Georgia and North Carolina especially are heartbreaking. For the first time ever, this storm was still labeled a tropical storm when it reached us in Kentucky. We were without power two days. For so many others it was so much worse. You are absolutely right that it does indeed put into perspective what is important. I have made 2 cookings of this to give to our ministers for our October honoring them. All 4 people raved about how delicious they were. I have never tasted it but you raved about it and I took your word! I did add 1 tsp of ground cloves to mine. Thank you for the recipe. Pecans are good and so is chocolate chips-YUM!! Or just plain like yours or with butter or cream cheese! I also saw a recipe where you put a maple glaze or icing on it and I think was like Be still my heart- nothing better than pumpkin and/or maple!! Tom and Melissa, ya’ll are the BEST!! ❤

Hi Tom and Melissa. I made a double batch of pumpkin bread today. I will give my daughter two of the loaves. I made cream cheese frosting and spread it on two loafs. My husband and I love it. It's moist with a delicious flavor. The bread was baked in glass loaf pans and took 65 minutes to bake Thanks for a great recipe. I want to bake pumpkin muffins soon.
It is! And we've also drizzled a cream cheese frosting over it before, too, and that's fabulous. It's great toasted with some butter. Or just a slice plain is also so, so good. Honestly, it's just delicious no matter how you eat it!
Ok just made this! Oh. My. Goodness! But to be honest I swapped I cup of the sugar with 1 cup dark brown sugar oh my!!!! Your tip to avoid over baking made is spot on. When there is a little doubt in your toothpick take it out. The loaves continue to bake in their own heat.
I've been using a recipe VERY similar to your recipe since the 1980's. Besides the listed ingredients, I also add a generous amount of pumpkin pie spice. Delicious.
I can’t wait to try this recipe since pumpkin bread just screams “Fall” to me. It is also such a nice food gift to share with friends and neighbors. We are still struggling here in Western North Carolina post Hurricane Helene flooding and landslides, so thoughts of sharing food with our community is uppermost on my mind right now. That sounds so good. Do you butter both sides and then just do it in a skillet like you would a grilled cheese sandwich?

So how much flour is it 2 and one half or 3and one half C. And you only use half of the sugar He uses? Thanks

From one left handed cook/baker to another I will make this pumpkin bread.
Ok…let me tell you this recipe is fool proof… not a baker here. But my daughter loves pumpkin and I wanted to surprise her. I was religiously following your recipe today when the doorbell rang. Went to the door came back continued on… put the mixture in the pans turned around and the water was in the dish( I forgot to include it after the door bell) 😂Well… I just took the water poured it on top of the batter and mixed it with a spoon around in the pan. ( not recommended, but remember I told you I was not a baker) put it in the oven and baked it…….. it turned out perfectly… it did not dome on the top.. but it is beautiful! 😊

I make my Grandma's Pumpkin bread every fall. She added raisins, chopped dates and pecans, and that's my preferred style, although I have to make some plain for other family members.

Heavenly good. I added evaporated milk instead of water. I couldn't imagine adding plain water to it. I also used 1 1/2 brown sugar and 1 1/2 regular sugar

This is so awesome to watch! It brings back memories of when my late husband and I bought our house in 1980. The house was new and empty! It was a buyers market at the time ! I made one phone call and bought a house ! My hubby was very surprised when he came home work and I told him I bought a house in the country with 2 acres! He was thrilled and we moved in two weeks!
I love your house and love your family! We lived in that house 38 years! My husband died in 2016. I sold our place in 2018. So many memories with our family at that acreage!

Cinnamon whipped cream cheese is fantastic on pumpkin bread. Mix a block of softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and cinnamon to your taste.

Pumpkin Spice flavor is one of my favorites. I had a Pumpkin Pie shake yesterdqy - so good! This bread looks amazing, and I can’t wait to make some. I think I’ll add pecans to one of the loaves. I bet chocolate chips would be delicious, too. Thanks for sharing.
Made this yummy recipe. Measured out batter going into the pan to keep them the same cooking time 4 1/2 cups into each pan. It was really moist. My son and friend said it was the best they ever had thank you.

The images we've seen coming from Georgia and North Carolina especially are heartbreaking. For the first time ever, this storm was still labeled a tropical storm when it reached us in Kentucky. We were without power two days. For so many others it was so much worse. You are absolutely right that it does indeed put into perspective what is important.

I have made 2 cookings of this to give to our ministers for our October honoring them. All 4 people raved about how delicious they were. I have never tasted it but you raved about it and I took your word! I did add 1 tsp of ground cloves to mine. Thank you for the recipe. I did try to order on Amazon but will have to wait for more to be printed. If this recipe is not in in the cookbook, I will write it in so I don’t lose it.

Pecans are good and so is chocolate chips-YUM!! Or just plain like yours or with butter or cream cheese! I also saw a recipe where you put a maple glaze or icing on it and I think was like Be still my heart- nothing better than pumpkin and/or maple!! Tom and Melissa, ya’ll are the BEST!! ❤

Hi Tom and Melissa. I made a double batch of pumpkin bread today. I will give my daughter two of the loaves. I made cream cheese frosting and spread it on two loafs. My husband and I love it. It's moist with a delicious flavor.
The bread was baked in glass loaf pans and took 65 minutes to bake

It is! And we've also drizzled a cream cheese frosting over it before, too, and that's fabulous. It's great toasted with some butter. Or just a slice plain is also so, so good. Honestly, it's just delicious no matter how you eat it!
Ok just made this! Oh. My. Goodness! But to be honest I swapped I cup of the sugar with 1 cup dark brown sugar oh my!!!! Your tip to avoid over baking made is spot on. When there is a little doubt in your toothpick take it out. The loaves continue to bake in their own heat.
Every Baker and Cook will stir into Flour or Sugar, other dry ingredients like Spices and Cocoa.

I've been using a recipe VERY similar to your recipe since the 1980's. Besides the listed ingredients, I also add a generous amount of pumpkin pie spice. Delicious.
