  • Ride along on a bush hog job in NW Florida cutting pine row saplings. The total cut time was 5.5 hours and the total job took about 9 with travel and loading and unloading the tractor. The Massey Ferguson 4707 provided a good ride in AC and protected me from the rain and heat.

    She's a hungry hippo! I've got a small open station tractor (Kubota L2501) I can only imagine the carnage I could inflict with a big tractor. Great estimate breakdown, people don't see or care about what it takes to get to the job site.

    How come is it that any video with a title of Bush hogging over 3 minutes end up with 15 minutes of talking about the carwash last week, the pipe wrench from harbor freight and what their water bill was???? Captain said ( bush hogging).

      Because a youtube video needs to be 10minuets + to be monetized,. Thats why you get 70% bs filler

    How's the MF tractor performing? I am comparing the Mf to the New Holland to the Mahindra tractors in the 70+ horse power range.

      I have really enjoyed it. I have worked it hard doing land and brush clearing and I have had no notable issues. The Mahindra is $10k cheaper and the TYM from Rural King is $15k less. I like the fit and finish of the MF. I also have a few dealers near me and my MF dealer was able to add the skid plate.

      @@OtterCreekFarm Thank You. We use our tractors heavily here producing 4x5 round hay bales. We use a 7ft bushog to trim around the hay fields.

    I'm gonna make a 30 minute video on land planing a drive way, ( qell that's the bait title) but I'll talk more about a flat tire and the click sound from my well, then mabey I'll speak about how a battery works.

    Would you ever cut in the rain?

    • @EronIler
      @EronIler 2 роки тому +1

      It depends on what is being cut. In this field, cutting in the rain was not an issue. In a tall paddock, it would have been to hard.

      There are a lot that will do the work in this area for $50/hr. The problem is you cannot run a business at that price point, won't be insured and will generally be "unprofessional". For every hour cutting, I spend as much time or more marketing, buying new equipment or dealing with maintenance. If those hours are not factored into the price, you will never make enough money to run a business. Look at the most popular land clearing channels on UA-cam. They all have nice trucks, expensive equipment, etc because they charge enough to not only pay the bills but make a 30% profit. Anyone doing $50/hr bush-hogging is hurting themselves and the industry.

      @@EronIler never said $50 per. Just said prices differ. I'm at $30 per acer. And $120 pr hr. Little high and also low around here.

      @@EronIler Sorry just reread want you said. I agree %100 with you. That %30 labor cost (as i call it) is had to get some times.

      The key is not to talk in hours, but the project. When asked the hourly rate, I say I price by the project. If asked how many hours do you think it will take, I say X to Y with prep, travel and work. That is generally the end of it. I think I sell at a higher price because I have some unique equipment, have insurance like professionals do, I look decent (just ordered company shirts), I drive a nice truck, I have business cards, I return calls quickly and communicate via text and phone almost immediately. It is a total package presented.

      I'm in East Tennessee with a Mahindra 1626 and five foot cutter. I get $100 an hour if your in about a 30 mile radius. Further, I charge $125
      I'm licenced and Insured.
