  • Join me for PART 1 of my Father's day weekend deep woods adventure at our Western Kentucky 190 acre farm as I take out the old tractor to start bush hogging the road system so that I could show the property to a couple of prospective hunters who might wish to lease this farm for fall deer hunting here in Western Kentucky. Join me in the tractor cab to see the beautiful sights and hear the sounds of bush hogging, aka brush hogging, as I clean up the several miles long trail system with the tractor and Bush hog BH26 HD 6 foot bush hog mower. I concentrated on the perimeter road of this beautiful 190 acre parcel, which is probably close to 2 miles long around the entire loop. I encountered at least 8 to 10 downed trees along the way, as well as many other obstacles, and steep ditch crossings along the way. I'm sure you will enjoy some beautiful scenery and tractor cab time if you join me for today's episode! If you enjoy this kind of stuff please like, and subscribe and don't forget to hit the Bell icon to get all of the updates of our land management projects and country living adventures! We are a Very unique channel unlike any other's that you will find out there on this platform! Thanks for joining us! Stay tuned for more adventures. That Kentucky farm is really nice and looks like lots of decent roads to get around it... You and Curtis should get a place where you can hunt black bears as well.

    The ground is looking better every year and there looks to be plenty to eat for the deer and turkeys. Mowing never gets done but I sure see less tree seedlings poking up in the grass and that's great.

    Kap, we used to put mothballs in cool whip bowls, punch holes in the lids, put them in engine compartments, cabs of grain trucks, combines,, and tractors weren't going to use over winter. Corners of your shed also. Mice hate the smell.

    My question ? When land prices are as high as they are...why arent these acres planted ??? Trees / brush everywhere ! Here in Iowa with land selling for 18,000 dollars per acre....and trees ? Your talking about hunting ? Looks like productive land to me ! If nothing else.........fence it ! Fencing is cheap ! But I did visit Kentucky back in 1980. I first hand notices...people there dont move too fast ! Tomorrow ..........might come !

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  Рік тому

      Well land is much more affordable down here and many folks are very serious about deer and wildlife habitat so the 'need' to farm or produce income is not nearly as high as it is by you! But dang, 18k an acre!!

    • @jerrylansbury9558
      @jerrylansbury9558 Рік тому

      @@kapperoutdoors Yes its at 18 k per acre and I was offered 22k for a clean flat high quality patch of land. But.....never accepted it. Well..... people around here are very serious about deer hunting........and wild life also ! But thats put towards " unfarmable " land. But even thats selling at 10,000 dollars per acre. However there are still those farmers that have that " tree syndrome. Trees/ brush in the fence lines and extending into the field over 40 feet. Then complain they cant make a living farming..
      Regardless of the price of land. Im sure you could make a lot more money farming it ! ( with out the trees / brush )

    How often do you have to sharpen the mower blades?

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  3 роки тому

      Depends on how many rocks and big branches you hit. I don't sharpen them unless I can notice they are starting to get really dull.
