As a South African this was my first Bollywood movie back in 2014/15 and I fell in love with Indian cinema .then I didn't get other movies references and songs but now I know them and last week I finally watched DDLJ for the first time and the last line was my favorite in this movie(it made my 19 years old self feel like an old soul😭😭) I love Indian cinema,the cultures and all ❤️❤️

As a foreigner, this movie may be a little difficult to get through becoz of the in depth jokes and cultural differences but I'm glad you understood most of it. Dont know is someone told you already but Deepika's Debut film was also with SRK. The name is Om Shanti Om and it is still one of my favorite movies of both of them. You schould definitely watch it!

Actually, as Hindi audience we don't know Tamil, so when we watch this movie, we don't know what's going on when they are speaking Tamil and we didn't have subtitles at that time because this movie is in our language Hindi. So, Audience is like a Rahul who don't know what's going on. That makes movie more funnier also. And for u, u also have subtitles of English for Tamil. So, u already know what's going on. Example - When Rahul say Yes with help of head, we don't know what She is saying to her father. Then she tells Rahul then we know 😂👍

There are a lot of languages spoken in India. And in this movie shah rukh Khan is from north india and hindi is one of the languages spoken there. Deepika is from south india, well irl too.. where languages like kannada, tamil, telugu are spoken. So deepika is from a tamil family and chennai is in Tamil Nadu. And the actor who played her father is also a very amazing south Indian actor. He was there in Bahubali

When it was released, I watched it in theatres and since then Ive watched it a minimum of 50 times😂 Its my go to comfort movie, and im so shocked that you could recognize the haule haule song tune from "rab ne bana di jodi" during that train scene with TC and shahrukh khan where he sings.

Like the *Robot* movie is epic and it has a second part *2.0* it's also an epic movie you should add it in your list and his *Kabali* and *Petta* are my personal favourite the storyline and action in both the movies are so amazing...

Actually the film has many refferences from SRK's other movies. You got the My name is khan one, but there's more. Like the scene where he was helping them get on the train is an iconic scene from DDLJ.

1:17:38 here srk says "dilwale dulhaniya le jayenge" is the most iconic and blockbuster movie in India of 90's the movie is so much famous that it still sometimes runs in theatres and gets housefull you should really watch that movie it has debut of iconic pairing of SRK❤Kajol

Nice reaction ! I watched this movie in the theater when I was small and it was an experience. The wide and beautiful shots in the theater looked epic. This movie was directed by Rohit Shetty. SRK also did a movie with him named 'Dilwale' you should check that out too. Dilwale also has beautiful shots + amazing music + good story like Chennai Express.

1.The songs they sang in the train are all references to other srk film songs.
2.The storeroom scene, throwing thangaballi in mud scene and other few scenes are all references to some tamil (south indian) movies.
3.Meena's father is played by the same actor who played Kattappa in bahubali.
4.That skirt like thing the goons wore and also in the song is lungi (casual wear), veshti (the white one worn by meena's dad more like formal wear) are South Indian clothing.
5. Some of the dances shown in the song (Kashmir to Kanyakumari literally from Northern tip to Southern tip of India) are classical dances of Tamil people.
5. (Edit) The man in the last song, *thalaiva* is known as the superstar of Tamil cinema. I don't know if this is a good comparison but he is like Robert De Niro of Kollywood (Tamil film industry).
Honestly loved this movie as a tamilian. Yeah there are some stereotypes but overall it was a fun entertainment package.
Also I highly suggest you to react to some Tamil and Malayalam movies cuz they are👌👌

that was rajnikant at the end. he is like the srk of south indian films. you should watch his movie robot and robot 2.0. robot has a great storyline and robot 2.0 which came after many years also has good story but more importsntly it has akshay kumar as villain and crazy vfx. it also had a huge budget because of the massive success of robot and yes it also became a successful movie. i am sure you will love both of them.

Masala genre (every genre at once like chennai express has drama , romance, comedy , action , little bit of horror too), illogical action scenes , musical numbers , songs , duration............Hollywood is boring for us except marvel
