Being a public school teacher observing a conversation about how you will get paid more when you become more excellent at something stings a little. This is absolutely no shade to anyone taking part in said conversation, it's just where we are as a society right now. I absolutely love teaching. I have a master's degree and 8 years experience. ...and I hope that one day I may be able to own a house.

@@kbmakes fr! People say "just move" like we aren't struggling already. I'd pick up my roots and move to New Zealand INSTANTLY if we could afford it. But no... we're stuck in TN with no way out because we can't even afford rent right now. 😒 $20/hr full-time is absolutely not a liveable wage even in boring old Tennessee. We can't better our lives if we don't get out though so idk. Also, "taking a pay cut to do something more comfortable" is a luxury most people aren't lucky enough to experience. I'm happy for people who experience it but to me it's a slap in the face to say "normalize it" like it's that easy. Tell a machinist, mechanic, welder, fast food worker, etc. to "take time for you" or "do what you love and make yourself more comfortable" is like telling them "you dont get to eat this week and no rent!" F that, honestly. Let's just normalize livable wages and stop taking so much out of people's checks.

I just graduated with a degree many people deem useless (marine biology) because I know I’ll never make more than like 70k a year in my life. But I don’t think I’d trade it for anything else. I doubted myself a lot in school because people would tell me all the time they dreamed of that as a kid but then found out how much money people in my field make. But I got my first job in the field last year and I couldn’t be more sure of my choice now. I am so happy at my job, something I don’t think most people can say. And money definitely cannot replace all of the amazing experiences I’ve had and are to come.
Finally, a lipstick for the people that buy those signs from Marshall's that say "I Eat Glitter For Breakfast"
My favorite @hautemesstom quote was when they talked about if they were the first person to collaborate with Pat McGrath. They said “I promise I’ll be a nightmare to work with.” I felt that in my bones. LOL. Love them!!!
I feel like part of the reason I keep immediately clicking on your videos is because even though I may not end up agreeing with you about certain products, your opinions on them are just super nuanced and discerning...in a way that's so much more than "ooo that's pretty" which is fun to watch but only up to a certain point

I have always loved how nuanced your descriptions are when comparing similar products. It’s so helpful as someone who does not live anywhere close to a Sephora or an Ulta and can’t swatch things in person to have that level of detail in your content. It cuts through a lot of my impulsivity and has allows me to have a collection of things I really love and really use!

Kackieeee would you consider reviewing more drugstore makeup and specifically breaking down the differences between drugstore and luxury products???
I think it would be really helpful and I would greatly value your opinion on the subject! Like, I would love to know if there are actual noticeable differences between the formulas & how they wear or if it’s just a difference in “luxury feel” which is a completely valid reason to choose one over the other but I’m trying to save money without compromising formula quality 😩😩😩😩

There are SO MANY great formulas at the drugstore and there are also SO MANY UA-camrs who discuss drugstore products in depth. Kelly Gooch talks a lot about drugstore products that are just as good or better than a lot of Sephora brands. The *aesthetics* of luxury products are half if not more than half of the reason I buy them 😂😂 and I’m assuming Kackie feels the same

I fee like you just spoke directly to me. I’ve worked in the hospital for 12 years. I had a baby 7 months ago. And I don’t feel like I can do 12 hour shifts or 7 on 7 off schedules anymore. Some people can and more power to them but I feel like I’ve been losing my mind since I went back after maternity leave. I made the choice to leave the hospital and go to primary care. I’ll make less money but I’ll work 8-5. I can drop and pick my baby up from daycare I can be with him on holidays and weekends. The value in that is so much more than my hourly rate. Hopefully with time and experience I’ll earn more in the future it for now I’m all about the mental health of my family

Just got to the part in this video where you said you are no longer doing short form content! Yes, yes, yes! I do not like short form. I like to get a drink, or my makeup and sit and watch and learn. If I wanted to watch short form, I would be doing so on Tik Tok. I am a fairly new subscriber but really enjoying your videos Kackie.
I always thought I grew up middle class, but everyone in my family got scholarships as well as loans. I also worked from the time I was 14. My kids have loans too and my eldest’s loans for nursing masters will be over $2000 a month. I don’t know how kids are supposed to survive these days. Both will be nurses and will have to move home to pay off loans and save for a house.

I think you are so right about the Burnt Zellige from YSL. It really is pretty but doesn't last. I found that Mickey from RMS gives me a similar color to this zellige and gives more of what i want to feel for pigment and staying power for being hydrating but also kind of a stain? LOL Anyway. I think the Mickey would look really nice on you!

Please please do a review on sigma makeup. They had some new things that came out this year: the setting loose powder, the powder blushes, the powder bronzer. Some older ones like the stick eyeshadow bases and of course their newer eyeshadow palettes. I really want to know if their items are good
Sigma makeup is interesting to me because I mostly only see content creators (also those who get it in pr) use it. The brushes are good but nothing exciting to me. I do know a handful of people who love their eyeshadow formula, but I've never been intrigued enough to try them.

While I hear ya on the shiny powder exposing pores, the lack of pigment on the blush is so, so flattering on you especially with the eye look. I know you prefer heavier blush but just wanted to comment that the lighter blush touch, IMO, is a much more sophisticated look on ya!
I liked it when I was watching in post, too. I was like oh that actually works before the Dior. This whole look surprised me as it was going on.
Product comparison question: is there a kaliedos blush that is a dupe for the coral shade of Dior?
I was looking and if you compare the pic on Sephora it looks close to the salmon one, but in pics from ppl who have purchased it’s closer to their other one that’s thats more of a peachy/coral colour.

Kackie! I am struggling so hard with this Chanel foundation. (I bought the same one as you but in 20.) It’s streaking like crazy and settles into every pore and line. I cannot get it to work right. How does the YSL lipstick formula compare to the revlon shine lipstick formula ? ( you might like rum raisin shade)
I find the revlon to be like 5% more emollient than the YSL. I have both and love both.

Do you know how the sublimage foundation compares to the rms beauty un-cover-up cream foundation?
yeah i mean, the RMS is not dewy or super hydrating if I'm recalling correctly. It's really pretty but it's high coverage and meant to almost be mixed with other things to achieve dewiness.
@@kackie They are often compared but it sounds like sublimage would work less well for oily skin. I mix the un-cover-up with the Auric glow lust and it’s beautiful 👌🏾

I had my eye on the concealer version of that foundation but considering both!
I have both and in my opinion the Chanel Sublimage foundation looks best on its own, if possible. However if you have to powder (in my case, if it was really hot or I expected to wear it a while) the Chantecaille powder is okay. Not my favorite powder for the reasons Khaki described.

I'm confused about the matte setting spray. I understand the reason you're using a setting spray is to help all the products on your face melt together. do your normal setting sprays also add some sort of dew to make your face look more glowy even though you're using powder products? which the matte setting spray does not have?
