I rode with this company in August 1992. Lt. Bill McDaniel was in Charge. It was my 1st time in NYC and all i wanted to do was see as many Firetrucks as i possibly could. I didn't even take time to see the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island. What an Awesome time i had.
Actually worked there on a detail one 6X with Wind at the wheel many years ago . Truly best of the best ! God Bless , JW ! His name and talent lives forever.
I can't BELIEVE how light that traffic was! If they were doing a movie shoot, they couldn't get that traffic to be THAT light. It must have been a Sunday morning. And the fact that 3 almost beat the first-due truck in, L.7, says more about 7 than it does about the driving of 3.
GREAT video... and one badass driver! i'll agree with the person who guessed he could fit an 8' truck through a 7.5' opening. way to go, guys. keep up the great work.
RIP Capt Paddy Brown originally a lieutenant with Rescue 1 before Dennis Mojica was the lieutenant of Rescue 1 and him being assigned to Ladder 3 when he was promoted to captain and died on 9/11
Great vid, whoever the videographer was. Thanks for posting this vid. The Tower ladder that goes in front of ladder 3 has a Q! I thought that that wasn't allowed in FDNY, oh well, it sounded awesome. I have never heard a yelp used in FDNY. Great Vid.
Someone told me that it is because it's impossible to tell where an emergency vehicle is coming from with all the tall building. There are lots of echoes and stuff that makes long tone sirens ineffective. The shorter tones don't echo as much and therefore, you can hear where the thing is coming from.
You can take a man out of the fire service, but you can never take the fire service out of a man. I hope to continue your legacy as I advance my career in this profession. Thank you for your service.
There are only 2 vollie companies officially recognized by FDNY. They are both in Staten Island. Beside them, there is one vollie company in Brooklyn, 3 maybe 4 in Queens, and I think one up in the Bronx. These others are not dispatched by FDNY, as are the ones in S.I.
Hell yeah!! Now that's the way to drive. Hat's off to all of you FDNY firefighter's and all the other big city departments out there. I'm just glad I don't have to drive in all that traffic trying to get to a call.
That "bell thing" is the alert tone of a mobile data terminal, indicating that a text message has been received relevant to the call to which the fire unit is EN ROUTE.
It's probably the dispatch computer. They have that annoying ring as an alert for certain things, like emails and such. Probably updates for the run or something.
Hey , it is the laptop , but, unfortunately, the mdt doesn't show any layout of the building ! Unless you have been on a run there or did BI there we have no clue of the layout of the apartments . The FDNY does not have GPS to guide us to the fire, we use a paper map or our head. They try to get as much info about the building as possible ,C.I.D.S. info, but there are over 900,000 buildings in NYC
Ladder 3 & Battalion 6 are both at 108 East 13 Street. That's probably Batt.6's siren you hear in the background as the truck runs East on 14th Street.
Some trucks have traffic directors on them. You can see that this one doesnt. The trucks that dont have them have an amber light on each side that wig-wag back and forth. If you look at the back of some engines, you can see the same thing. The turn signal is down further.
man, you really gotta be an aggressive driver in NYC traffic. Theyre just flyin past intersections and everything. Yes, 7 Truck had a Q running in this video. Gotta love the sweet sound of a Q.
Nope that was their previous rig which a 1994 Seagrave this one was a replacement for the 1994 Seagrave this one is a 2001 Seagrave and the one they have today is a 2013 Ferrara
The telephone ringing sounds- I believe are the call-outs for another apparatus unit. (I could be mistaken though). Either which way, it's part of the FDNY radio/telecommunications system. From what Ive read in the comments here- there are two MDTs in the Engines now? (1 in the 1st Officers seat and one in the rear jumpseats?)
I live in the UK nad went over to NY for a holiday and aboustley love the American sirens. I want to know if the very deep truck horn is for when they are crossing a intersection so that no other cars run into them. Please let me no Regards Scorpia12345
alot of vids of NY emergencey vechicles have short sirens not continously going why is that? is it because of noise problem? if it is, is that why they took off the Qs from the rigs?
Ok, first off, if the driver is a smoker, then dammit, let him smoke. There's nothing in the trucks that say you can't smoke in there. Smoking in an ambulance, well then that's just common sense. Besides, if you're a firefighter, especially the chauffer of a truck, in NY, chya, you would be stressed enough you want to smoke. Secondly, what was the call for? He looked disappointed when they got there. Keep up the good work guys. You're all heroes to the world =)
Nah, NYC has limits on noise levels and Q's are too loud. The only trucks that have them take them off before sending the truck for service cause the service personnel have to remove them if they see them.
This is my dad driving! Couldn't be more proud!
fugazzl hi
God bless him.
True legend til this day. Didn’t even work in the same Battalion, but his reputation was well known though out the FDNY .
Hey I got a question did he died during 9/11 or something cause I heard that Ladder 3 Firefighters died during 9/11, just askin
@@MarkAustinThompson9090 pretty sure this video is after 9/11

Wow, I drove Ladder 39 in the Bronx for 16 years and I never thought of video taping it . But this is some cool shit.
My mom’s dad was a lieutenant in 39 Truck before becoming captain in Engine 62 and then battalion chief in Battalion 27 and retired in January 2003
That "yelp" button on the PA300 helped get some attention when needed
Now that guy is a true FDNY FF, Old school, enginner smoke while ya go... GReat vid!
That's Jimmy Wind. AKA "Windy" One of the best truck chauffeurs in the FDNY. RIP Brother. Miss u.
I can't BELIEVE how light that traffic was! If they were doing a movie shoot, they couldn't get that traffic to be THAT light. It must have been a Sunday morning. And the fact that 3 almost beat the first-due truck in, L.7, says more about 7 than it does about the driving of 3.
love how the driver has a smoke hangin from his lip!gotta love the FDNY!
GREAT video... and one badass driver! i'll agree with the person who guessed he could fit an 8' truck through a 7.5' opening.
way to go, guys. keep up the great work.
fireman is the best job the world thank you for all firemann hard work.
RIP Capt Paddy Brown originally a lieutenant with Rescue 1 before Dennis Mojica was the lieutenant of Rescue 1 and him being assigned to Ladder 3 when he was promoted to captain and died on 9/11
Terry?
Opp nvm just read the hole comment
Respect to the chauffeur for driving her like a boss. Only in NY, baby.
Talk about a driver with balls of steel!
Great vid, whoever the videographer was. Thanks for posting this vid. The Tower ladder that goes in front of ladder 3 has a Q! I thought that that wasn't allowed in FDNY, oh well, it sounded awesome. I have never heard a yelp used in FDNY. Great Vid.
I prefer the continuous siren vs, the manual. I know it's NYC and sound travels but still.
need more videos like this on youtube in HD.

There are lots of echoes and stuff that makes long tone sirens ineffective. The shorter tones don't echo as much and therefore, you can hear where the thing is coming from.
They are responding to a: Class 3 box 620 terminal 1, 425 E 25 ST. FDR Drive with 1st Ave for a AFA manual alarm in a public college, west building.
WOW what a ride. I am a retired ladder chauffeur in the midwest and I still got excited on this run. I have only been retired 4 months and miss it.
You can take a man out of the fire service, but you can never take the fire service out of a man. I hope to continue your legacy as I advance my career in this profession. Thank you for your service.

Wheelin and Dealin!!!!! Good job driver.
its amazing how they drive
bad ass driver, driving, smoking, and using the airhorn.
I have never seen the FDNY running they're sirens like this. Usually they use Manual
Hell yeah!! Now that's the way to drive. Hat's off to all of you FDNY firefighter's and all the other big city departments out there. I'm just glad I don't have to drive in all that traffic trying to get to a call.
It is the MDT alert for an update.
Or in other words the lap top in the truck that communicates with the Alarm Room to update call information.
That "bell thing" is the alert tone of a mobile data terminal, indicating that a text message has been received relevant to the call to which the fire unit is EN ROUTE.
fantastic driving
Moves it like a Pro
LOVE THIS VID DEFINATELY ***** i do have one question though what kind of siren is that?
@michaels1432 Its the MDT or Computer on the truck that shows call info and other things
that siren is the one we use in australia, mainly in new south wales
Driver smoking is classic!
there's a siren switch on both sides, a pedal on the passenger side.
God... that driver is a real BadAss!!!!❤
How cool he was with a cigarette in his mouth😎
Rush hour in New York is brutal 🫨🤯😎
now that is some excellent truck driving...
having a cigarette in the firetruck, real classly....
The ringing is the computer giving updates from dispatch. The ring gets the officers attention over the siren.
God bless the men who died
i own a pa300 for my pov in my fd...good to see someone eles useing them dam old things! haha!
Great video! 🚒🚨
GOD bless Firefighters around the World🚨🚒🚗🙏🏻❣️❣️❣️❣️
Typical busy new yorker at 0:50
When you guys arrive did a special operations vehicle come a minute later? with a camera man?
I liked! Operative, not worse, than in Russia =)
Furthermore i was a Lt. in Communications from the Nashville Tennessee Fire Department
Nice horns, Grovers?
Very nice movie guys! FDNY rules...
We have also movies from the Amsterdam Fire Department, the Netherlands.
actually, firefighters who train and get certified to operate fire apparatus learn how and when to use other controls and functions of the apparatus.
It's probably the dispatch computer. They have that annoying ring as an alert for certain things, like emails and such. Probably updates for the run or something.

That Cigarette kicks ass
like 1
Ladder 3 was lost in 911
some of them have either a knob or bedels on the floor
Ladder 3 & Battalion 6 are both at 108 East 13 Street. That's probably Batt.6's siren you hear in the background as the truck runs East on 14th Street.
At 0:28 you can hear the dispatcher announce the call over the radio.
thats someone else switching to yelp because there is a pedal where the officer sits to
Some trucks have traffic directors on them. You can see that this one doesnt. The trucks that dont have them have an amber light on each side that wig-wag back and forth. If you look at the back of some engines, you can see the same thing. The turn signal is down further.
nice video. At that hall do you have a tiller ladder or is it ladder 3?
Looks like a joint in his mouth at .054 and .055 seconds or a really bad rolled cigarette
It's part of their radio system
what is that device that is making a sound like a telephone call? is it a phone on board the truck?
at 1:48 1:49 he calls the ambulance drivera little prick Love it
what a tough job in NY. crazy traffic 24/7
man, you really gotta be an aggressive driver in NYC traffic. Theyre just flyin past intersections and everything. Yes, 7 Truck had a Q running in this video. Gotta love the sweet sound of a Q.
Is this the same ladder 3 which perished in 9/11? Godspeed you lost but brave souls.
Nope that was their previous rig which a 1994 Seagrave this one was a replacement for the 1994 Seagrave this one is a 2001 Seagrave and the one they have today is a 2013 Ferrara
The phone ring you are hearing is the mobile computer (MDT) on board the truck. The ring is for incoming messages.

Please let me no

Is it me or is the Engineer smoking a cigar
alot of vids of NY emergencey vechicles have short sirens not continously going
why is that?
is it because of noise problem?
if it is, is that why they took off the Qs from the rigs?
Mean sounding air horn, I like it!
RIP Ladder 3
Best response video on youtube.
Excellent fire truck driver!
It is their mobile data terminal (MDT)
I think Qs are being phased back in in the FDNY
i know that, this tower doesnt, so it has the 2 amber wig wag lights on the back. we have traffic directors on most of our trucks now.
It's the battalion chief quartered in the same house.
Great one!!!!Finally a vid without fuckin music!!the only thing I could ask are subtitles for the radio relay
he pass so close to some vehicule it's amazing !!!
Well that was not driving with due regard.... If he had hit a car crossing intersections like that, he'd have been in deep shit...
Secondly, what was the call for? great video love the driving. but i shure miss the federal q's in fdny
@kameron younger, it's a tower ladder that they saw in front of them
My wife's boyfriend smokes amid smoking rubble. It's comical to watch actually.
sure threaded the needle with those cabs. that was sweet
It sounded like the ladder truck they started following had a Q when it came through the intersection. Maybe that's what M1Abrams was talking about?
does the FDNY use the Q on any of their trucks?
lol The driver smokes
Nah, NYC has limits on noise levels and Q's are too loud. The only trucks that have them take them off before sending the truck for service cause the service personnel have to remove them if they see them.
very nice wheelman.
@Jkdutsch : The tanks contain compressed air, not oxygen. They carry them on their backs into the fires, don't they?
I think it's a mix
turning on the on board computer to see notes about the call.
HA! Lights and sirens mean absolutely nothing to most people....
I like fire truck air horns
Awsome driver !
I think they make a little more than 10 bucks a hour but no doubt they have the balls of a hero
