I follow my grandma’s way of cooking white rice by putting 1/2 tablespoon of white vinegar ( apple cider is ok too ) into it once the rice has finished cooking then use a pair of chopsticks to fluff the rice. Somehow the rice with vinegar taste very yummy n keep well overnight without being refrigerated. So it’s very good for using the rice to make fried rice the next day.
When you are making biscuits or pancakes and you are out of buttermilk, 1 tablespoon of vinegar in a cup of regular milk works as an excellent substitute.
Vinegar will remove hard water stains from almost anything. If you soak a paper towel in vinegar and put it on a bathtub ring it will resolve the ring. The soaked paper towel will keep the vinegar on the spot so you don't need to fill the tub completely with vinegar.
I bruise super easily and especially at each and every insulin injection site so I'm super excited to try vinegar on my bruises. Thanks for that! I use white vinegar in my dishwasher instead of chemical rinse agents...just a couple glugs (maybe 1/4 cup) inside the machine before I start the wash cycle. Works better than jetdry and super budget friendly.
1) I add vinegar to my laundry, especially my towels. It gets rid of smells and softens without the chemicals or dryer sheets. 2) Vinegar is a great weed killer. 3) You can save your citrus peels and add them to a mason jar with vinegar and it makes a great homemade cleaner. Just strain out the peels after a week or two and put into a spray bottle. No sticky mess and smells great. 4) If you move into a house with hardwood floors and the previous owner's pet (or even your own pets) have an accident, simply mop the floors with vinegar and water and no more smell.
Have carpet in one room and instead of carpet shampoo we use plain white vinegar in place of carpet soap. Also keep our drains fresh and clear monthly with 1/2 cup baking soda, then 1 cup plain white vinegar which we allow to foam, and then we run hot water down the drain. Some plain white vinegar in the canning water keeps my jars clean. And like others we add 1 cup plain white vinegar to the rinse cycle of laundry so it removes any soap residue in fabric which also helps fabric last longer. Not a vinegar tip, but I turn dark items inside out when line drying since this prevents fading.
we always used white vinegar to take out the sting of a sunburn .. you just pit it on a very soft cloth and dab it generously on to red skin to soothe it
A few drops of white vinegar in the washing machine when washing the clothes to make them softer and to removed the sweaty smell from under the arms! ;)
Hers two off the top of my head I didnt see below. Vinegar takes the burn out of sunburn, just drizzle it on the burnt area(not open blisters etc). i always smelled like vinegar in the summer as a kid. Another use or I guess a way I seen it used. When I was a kid we had extended family that ate a lot of fried fish. They kept an open bottle on the table while eating their fish meals. If someone got a bone theyd take a swig and it would dissolve the fish bone. I seen it work several times but I dont know how big a bone it would work on? Mom was a nurse and said it softened the bone but the kin said it dissolved it? i just know it worked but tasted awful lol. Baking soda and vinegar has been used as a poultice for insects stings, bites and minor abrasions for years in more "rural" communities I know.
Removing stains or dyes from vinyl or leather. Distilled white vinegar, baking soda & hydrogen peroxide. I was fortunate not to have panicked when l realized my hair dye had stained my sofa. (Very bad professional hair color job). Looked up how to salvage my newly purchased sofa. Glad l had all ingredients on hand & it worked like a charm.
I mix half vinegar and half water to use in a spray bottle. When I buy cantaloupe, mangos, or bananas I spray the outside skin, let it sit a minute or two, and then rinse with water. This kills the fruit fly eggs before they hatch and become an annoyance. Works great.
i used a mixture of white vinegar and water to get rid of spots and bumps on my scalp ,apply leave to dry for 30 mins or so (daily),i tried loads of expensive shampoos for years until i discovered this.
Here's one, I started noticing a white powdery film on my dishes after running them through the dishwasher. I tried using baking soda but that didn't work so I went the other route and used a 1/4 cup white vinegar and ran it empty on the pots and pans setting. Then I ran a full load of dishes through and that seemed to have taken car of the problem. Thanks for all those other tips!
My favorite tub and shower cleaner and it works amazingly well is to fill a spray bottle 2/3 of the way with warm white distilled vinegar and 1/3 of the way with blue Dawn dish washing liquid. Does an awesome job! And I have made it without warming the vinegar too and it still works like a charm.....
my wife drinks vinegar for acid indigestion 2 tbl . also the gnat trick works even better with a couple of drops of dish soap it breaks the suface tension they can't get out . great video
I have a water distiller that gets super coated with crud and letting it soak in vinegar for an hour works! I just pour it back in the jug after (not to be used with food!)
Big Family Homestead I heard that apple cider vinegar was good for heart burn. I tried it, and it hurt so bad that I will never try that use ever again. I think it helps as a prevention, but once reflux sets in it is too late. I have found that when I eat sour kraut I get no heartburn. I saw a prepper video about stocking sour kraut, and I thought why didn't I think of that? Funny story: When my husband and I first got married he sent me to the garden place to get cabbage plants. I came back with a full flat. Imagine 72 heads of cabbage for two people. We ate a lot of sour kraut that winter. The whole flat was only $4.99 in 1982.
My grandmother taught me to use white vinegar on kitchen burns, and bug bites. It seriously works wonders on kitchen burns. Like, literally, life changing.
I mixed some white vinegar with a little baking soda and used it as a soak for an old forgotten hand can opener that had started rusting. Soaked for about 5 minutes and the rust was gone!
My grandparents and my parents used all kinds of homemade remedies! However, some of these in the comment section I have never heard of, but I am going to try, especially the white vinegar and milk in my biscuits.
Apple cider vinegar obliviated my dandruff. A sort of prewash: I wet my head, put on the vinegar until the scalp is covered (watch the eyes!), enjoy the shower then rinse and shampoo. Results will impress in one or two showers! Bonus: hair is super soft. Good for the beard too!
Apple cider vinegar is great for getting rust off of old cast iron pots and pans. Just put the pan in a bucket and fill it up with acv. Give it about a week and rust will almost be completely removed.
Two things to be careful of when using vinegar. 1. Don't use on marble. I heard that vinegar will etch it. Don't use to clean the outside of painted washers, etc. Learned the hard way that vinegar will remove the paint. I use vinegar as a fabric softener. It works best if you put it in during the wash cycle, not the rinse cycle. I hang almost all the laundry and they come out much softer.
Removes rust from metal, eg cast iron, rusted tools. and just so happens that I have my mossberg Maverick barrel soaking in vinegar to remove the bluing from it! Love vinegar!
I use apple cider vinegar for a fly repellent for my horse just in a spray bottle. Also I use white vinegar and hot water in a spray to clean out my dog kennels. I also use white vinegar to clean and freshen my sink drains. Just pour baking soda down in the drain and then add pure white vinegar down and watch it fizz. Would probably make a great volcano lava too.
Equal parts vinegar and olive oil will remove water rings from wood furniture. I've also heard that full strength vinegar will remove white water marks from leather and cloth furniture. not sure though haven't tried that one
Clean tub without scrubbing much. 50% vinegar + 50% blue Dawn. Spray tub & let sit 20 min. I use my shower head that is hand held. If it's a tough ring do it daily till clean. I've gotten into the habit of doing it daily so I don't have to scrub the tub. Saves your back & time.
This was a good, straight to the point, educational video. Almost felt like I was getting some advice in a real conversation.... You got yourself a new follower, Mister! 🙂Cheers from India.
I've used diluted vinegar in a spray bottle in my shower for ages. NOT to clean, as you might think, but right on my skin and hair. I spray it on last, after I'm done washing, then rinse it all off. It's smelly, but the smell goes away, I promise. You won't smell like a pickle. :p Also, you know how you get carpet dents, like where you had furniture sitting for a ling time and it leaves creases or dents? Supposedly, white vinegar and a hot iron will floof them back out. That one I haven't tried, but it sounds pretty reasonable.
I have skin that is sensitive to soaps, and vinegar cuts soap film, so I figgered it would help it rinse off of me, too. :) I have no absolute proof that it works, but it made sense to me, and it hasn't hurt. :p Plus vinegar freshens. It's cheap. My gramma used it as a rinse on my hair when I was a little girl to rinse the shampoo out and leave it shiny, and I have used it ever since. I put it on, rinse it off, and the smell is gone as soon as it's dry.
here one for you. when you feel like your getting an infection in your kidneys or like my mom called it a cold in your kidney. Take a table spoon of apple cider vinegar and a half a cup of cranberry juice. mix it together, drink it and by the next today all is well
When you make cakes that require milk you can add a little vinegar with a pinch of baking soda to make the milk sour and it gives your cakes a richer flavor.
Nespresso cleaner or coffee filter cleaner, fabric softener (white vinegar) general degreaser, kills egg smell on dishes, chuck some in dishwasher for rinse aid. Toilet seat cleaner or general disinfectant
I put a little vinegar in my water bath canner to keep the hard water minerals from making my jars icky. Sort of same concept as cleaning the coffee pot.
Great hints but I actually use cheap ketchup to clean copper. Just coat the item with ketchup and let it sit for a half hour. Then just lightly scrub away the tarnish.
At my house if you stand still for too long something gonna happen your going to get dehydrated and/or spritzed with vinegar. Everything from adding to all my animals water to hype the acidity in it (pH) to cleaning the toilet and taking it for colds or whatever. Killing bugs, soften clothes. I have made it and its very easy just like making Kraut, but I don't have apple trees so its less expensive just to buy it which here in Missouri I recently paid $2.29 for a gal which is good compared to cost of all the stuff it replaces. Soooooo Brad if you have a cold which you seem to have, apple cider vinegar and honey , very rich in vit C and will cure ya.
Vinegar is a major staple in our home. I make a streak free glass cleaner that is amazing! In a 16 oz bottle combine 1/2 cup distilled vinegar, 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol and fill with distilled water or filtered water for long term. Shake before using. I reuse my 16 and 32 oz glass bottles for my cleaner I do not use plastic. I also make a homemade pot and pan scrub using distilled vinegar also apple cider vinegar to clean your store bough produce. Rinse your produce in a a mixture of 4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in one gallon of cold water (non fluoridated). Make sure the vinegar is fully dissolved.
P.S. I didn't know where you wanted me to write this but I got the results of my PET scan.I'm afraid it was not good' The places that I already had it the femur in my left leg and my breast bone have spread more, plus it is in both hip bones, 3 places in my spine and also in my neck bone close my heads. I had a port put in today and will start liquid chemo Monday. Won't ya know I just got my hair to my shoulders from the last time.

Use white vinegar in addition to detergent?

Just a little bit of vinegar added to the water when you make stock will pull extra calcium out of the bones.
you can also use white vinegar to descale your coffee pot.

What you saying is very good and appreciated, but what happens if I mix,the two vinegars
vinegar is also great for descaling a kettle, and the same vinegar can be reused a few times over for this purpose
I have a water distiller that gets super coated with crud and letting it soak in vinegar for an hour works! I just pour it back in the jug after (not to be used with food!)
You can set bowls out around your house and it gets rid of smells…even skunks!
I love the wiper blade tip. With all the road salt here in the north they could sure use a cleaning. Thanks.
+Patricia Ribaric We use it ourselves!

you can soak your rusty tools or parts in white vinegar (it takes a couple of days for bigger pieces)
My grandmother taught me to use white vinegar on kitchen burns, and bug bites. It seriously works wonders on kitchen burns. Like, literally, life changing.
If you have a mosquito/ bug bite put some vinegar on it and it's gone so quick it's crazy!
White vinegar can also remove rust. I had an extremely rusty block plan that came out nice and shiny after a soak in a container of white vinegar.
Put on bug bites to stop itching and reapply when itching comes back, put on sunburn also
I mixed some white vinegar with a little baking soda and used it as a soak for an old forgotten hand can opener that had started rusting. Soaked for about 5 minutes and the rust was gone!
+Janice Hartenhoff COOL!
My grandparents and my parents used all kinds of homemade remedies! However, some of these in the comment section I have never heard of, but I am going to try, especially the white vinegar and milk in my biscuits.
Hello! Well i use white vinegar or apple cider to clean my carpet. It smells fresh.

When I was a kid mum used to put vinegar on my stings from stinging nettles she used malt vinegar I dont know if others work to.
Apple cider vinegar is great treatment for fungus. Drops on toenails a couple times a day makes it hard for the fungus to survive.
Two things to be careful of when using vinegar. 1. Don't use on marble. I heard that vinegar will etch it. +LINDA BROWN I just cleaned some stubborn stains in the toilet with vinegar, worked like a charm ;)
Awesome useful vinegar remedies Thanx 👏🏻
Removes rust from metal, eg cast iron, rusted tools. and just so happens that I have my mossberg Maverick barrel soaking in vinegar to remove the bluing from it! Love vinegar!
Similar to the showerhead, use to descale a kettle and/or coffee machine

Add vinegar to a cycle of just warm water (no clothes) to disinfect your washing machine!
Omg thank you
"BAAM! That just happened!" LOL! :D I love it!

It removes the impossible glue from stickers on glass it’s amazing but don’t dilute and drench it. Melts the glue right off

No, we actually used to use fresh, but Christa likes the way the powdered make the consistency better...

apple cider vinegar for a hair rinse...you know, "classic rock" hair. Just be careful....I got it in my eye once. It stung like a mother. :)
+ThePUMPKIN2113 I don't know this for sure, but I read that it helps dandruff too...
Yh Apple vinegar is for hair rinse, can white vinegar be use as a replacement
Can white vinegar bleach?
But what about the smell? Coz it reeks
if you put a egg in viniger for 24 hours it could bounce.but if you drop it from a high place it will pop
