Just built this unit. sounds pretty impressive!!… worth every penny!… used for 6 hrs straight at pretty high volume and the batteries lasted no problem. Played all types of music. For wattage, price and size theres no other Bluetooth speaker like this👍
Hey, Donny, just finished building mine. Sounds really good, and boy does it crank! Lots of power. I was quite surprised at how good it sounds. I hooked up a cd player through the aux port. Works like a charm. Bluetooth synched up no problem. Parts Express has some really cool kits! Very reasonably priced.
Hi! Awesome to hear that! Definitely one of the better DIY portable speaker kits out there for the price. I will have a few more kit builds in the upcoming months, stay tuned if interested.
@@DonnyTerek For sure! I've been looking at the GR Research X-LS Encore kit as well. A little bit more pricey, but I've read very good reviews on them.
Hey Donny, i am maybe planning on buying this set and i would like to know something. How is the bass on this thing? because i like a bit of hearable bass. and how many people can conncect on the speaker?
Hi! The bass is not very deep but rather quite soothing to listen to, especially when placed close to a wall. I have built this speaker quite a while ago and don't have it with me anymore so I can't tell you my precise memory of the bass quality this speaker has.
Hi. Is there a reason why you did not put foam or padding inside? Wouldn’t it help it sound better? Just curious. I’m thinking of building this kit. It would be my first.
Great video, Donny, very detailed! I've been waiting for this to be "in stock" again so I can build my own. I have built several speakers over the years, including ones from Parts Express. Their kits are terrific! Building the C-Notes right now. I like this kit because it has an "input" I can use to hook up a CD player as well as Bluetooth.
I thought it was excellent, very well presented and delivered, I thought you would have done another coat of paint and I’ve not checked yet but hope you’ve done a link to the component parts. DG New Forest U.K.
Hello, can you provide some dimensions for the port tubes and how to make crossovers? I can't find them in the specification list. Thanks, great video.
I am using two component sealer which I buy locally, but I have placed a link for a different sealer in my Instructables post which you can find in the description.
Forgot to mention....MAKE SURE YOU TEST ALL THE DRIVERS when the kit arrives. My C-Notes had a bad tweeter. No problem, though, Parts Express is going to send my a new one no questions asked. Great company to deal with.

@@nikhilsuryawanshi6301 I built a set of those about a year ago, (the TriTrix MTM bookshelf speakers). They are a nice kit! 50 Watts/Channel should be great for a 9 X 13 hall. @@DonnyTerek Thank you. One more question: would you recommend building this or the DIY WiFi / Bluetooth Stereo Speaker Boombox Build that you also have build? As I see the hardware are similar, so your opinion (since you abviously have built both) would be great!
They are almost identical speakers to each other. Though I would recommend this speaker more since it is rechargeable and portable and has better stereo separation.
Great build video! I am thinking about this kit for my first diy audio build to take camping. I have read that you can add a second battery pack to this kit to extend playback time. From your experience building this kit how easy would it be in your opinion? As I couldn't find any directions on how to do so.
Thank you! This is a great kit if you are looking into it. I am sure it wouldn't be too difficult to add a second battery board but I'm not sure about the wiring for it. I guess you could place the secondary battery unit in one of the speaker cabinets and route the connector through the crossover wire hole. I guess it would be best to reach out to Parts Express for guide to wiring the battery pack extension.
Awesome build! Really looks like something you could buy in a store. Aren't the Reflex Tubes a little small though? I've heard as a rule of thumb the hole of the tube should be about 1/5 of the membrane area...
@@wb3213 yeah I know. The smaller and longer the tube, the deeper the resonance frequency. But if you make the tubes to small you can develop wind-like sounds. But it seems to be ok in this speaker

hello, include language translator in your video on youtube - please your very interesting projects. sound can be improved by adding soundproofing inside the walls. Thanks
Are you sound engineer? I guess not, cause bass port has to be specific width and length for the specific enclosure and drivers. Just making the bass reflex bigger without doing the math will make sound worse.
I watched your video.. Almost all is good, but... C`mon, dude.. you were gluing up perfectly machined boards using tape..!!?? why the hell?? You ended up with horrible gaps between panels which you filled with putty.. buy yourself some clamps and the end result will be way better. Other than that, good work
I tested the speaker at around 50-60% volume. You would be surprised to hear that a well designed speaker does not need 'moving' speakers to produce quite deep bass response.
In a ported design, the woofer barely moves at the resonant tuned frequency. In a sealed design, the woofer reaches full excursion at the tuned resonant frequency.

This board can only fit 3 batteries, you might need a different board to fit more batteries.

How many hours for playing time (only 3pcs of battery like this)?
8 - 10 hours at moderate volume
How many watts for this speaker?
I get 3 to 5 hours at outdoor volume 70 to 75 percent. Great sound.
Would using lots of clamps while gluing reduce the need for filler in the joints?
Definitely! The CNC cut parts may need some sanding in a few areas for best assembly. Definitely use clamps if you have them.
