Finally a video from a guy like me. High interest but a total newbie. Yeah, the videos from the dealers are informative but nice to hear the experience from a beginners point of view. The fear, the wonder, the mistakes, the successes, thanks for the unbiased info.
Lucas, thanks for putting the time that you do into these vids. It was your instructions I found a few years ago when I was looking to build a tricopter that taught me and my kids the basics of RC. I look you up from time to see how your uni is going. Anyways - thanks from Australia for your informative vids.
Thanks for sharing your "solo" experience with us Lucas. Your enthusiasm reminds me when I soloed in an Aeronca Champ in 1963, I was 15 . . . when your instructor gets out and says " do 2 touch and goes, and come in " I felt I wasn't ready, the rest is history. Wow, what a thrill for you young man. Go forth and reach for the skies . . .
Thanks Bob! Wow that sounds like such a great experience! I actually have several hours in a 1946 Aeronca Champ, I love that kind of flying. Great videos by the way!
Being someone who is interested in becoming a powered para motor glider pilot I found your experience most interesting. Thank you for sharing in such an artistic really descriptive way.
Loved this btw. Really well done narration, I'm dying to have this experience. I only eat ramen and drink water now to get my first wing. I bicycle instead of driving. Fortunately I have a company car though. I don't watch TV anymore, only paramotor videos. I feed my children rice and peas instead of expensive meals. My cat gets 1 piece of cat food a day. Every way I can cut my budget to get into the sky... (Ok JK I take good care of myself and my family, but I really am seriously budgeting for my first wing. I want to get a few months of ground handling in before I take training).
I'm really glad you're doing PPG now, hope to see more on your channel! I recently got into freeflight paragliding and the heights are pretty scary at first, but it's so much fun. Congratulations!
Thanks for taking the time Lucas. I have heard great things about this school and your video let us see what it's like. I have wanted to try it since watching wild man Tucker having all the fun.
Nice dude! Very nice! What wing did you kite on? I can tell it's an Ozone, but not sure of the model. (I'm specifically refering to the green wing.. The red looks like a Mojo.)
Haha! Thanks! Yeah, I've been a skydiver for a long time and now I'm looking into something new for this years entertainment. :-P I should have my paramotor built by the summer.
Great video. I'm thinking about getting into paramotoring so I've been reading and watching videos about it a good bit. Initially I was thinking I could just do my due diligence researching and get up there without training but after watching this it seems like it's really worth it and rewarding to take a training course. It seems like it's a great sport to get into. Thanks for posting
Nice video Lucas. Your timeline of events is very similar to what most ppg pilots in training go through. And yes, a no wind forward launch, especially on only your 2nd day, is very difficult to pull off. Been there myself. I also like how you included some of the mistakes that you made, and keeping the experience as real as possible. I have never turtled, but i have had my share of broken props, and bent cages over the years. Keep flying my friend!
i'm saving up for the Nitro 200 and this outstanding video convinced me to go with AviatorShow. Am I overly optimistic to believe that if I go crawbaby style, I can get thru training with nothing broken, no crashes??
Hey Lucas! I have to congratulate you for both your airmanship as well as your video! I wish I could make a vid like that! It's nice to hear you share your thoughts, I tried to make some kind of chronicle of my becoming a paramotor pilot. It took me about 3 years... I had a lot of time at hand, so I made my videos in a totally diffferent style and not half as serious as yours. I also had an instructor who seemed to know what was going on in my head. I will never forget his words "Man, you're flying!" resonating through my helmet. My sincerest compliments for your good work, and of course for the great team of instructors over there. Please keep it up, take care, happy flying!
Great video. I really like your editing, and dramatic music really helps set the mood. Great to see you share the "mishaps" too, keepn' it real for other newbies.
There are not many people on youtube who I can bear to sit and listen to talking for 20 minutes but you are one of them ;) you are really interesting and I loved this video. I used to do paragliding a lot but I stopped doing it some years ago and I wish I didnt. I am considering getting into paramotoring :) here in the UK the regular paragliding is pretty crap tbh.
Thanks for sharing this Lucas! I will be taking the course with Aviator PPG this fall and this was a great way to get a sense of what to expect. It looks amazing and I can't wait to get started :) Great video!
Hi Eric, I am just in the process of selling my condo here in Canada...gotta pay for that paramotor somehow :) ... As soon as I have a closing date I will be contacting you to book the course. The sooner the better...watching all your videos is really getting me pumped to get down there and get started!
Great video! I live relatively close to there and I'm planning on going there for training sometime before June. I can't wait. I keep watching everyone's videos and I'm so eager to get started!
great video. I was hugely into fpv! I then took a intro ppg flight. I was flying on my own gear after awesome instruction a month later. you gained a follower!
Great Video Lucas! Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm longing for my first flight in PPG. I've flown Ultralight, but I think this will be even more spectacular. Less craft around you...
Excellent video Lucas. Thanks for sharing your story. You will never forget your first flight. Aviator PPG turns out some really good pilots. Good choice with your instruction. Safe flying.
you may be afraid of heights?? But how do you know if you never did it? that your afraid of...flying?? time to cure your fears!! shut up or nut up. time for you to fly!! now get out there.BUT!!! not with these bozos!! They're like the shape of their state?? ball less, limp.
I am terrified of heights bit flying my trike if different than being on a old wobbly ladder. I'm still afraid of heights but it is getting better with every flight I am also self taught and love this sport
Thank you for sharing your first experience.im looking forward to getting into that sport.looks scary, but once you have it down pack.its all downhill.gonna see a school near me this summer and buy a gd used paramotor.
Thanks Lucas ...first class commentary and riveting video on your first experiences learning how to paramotor glide. The camera editing was also a great help with the long shots and on board insight into the landings and glider learning. Was there any instruction regarding a reserve chute, when, where and how high you can deploy the reserve in the event of emergency? Been a few years now since your day I guess you have made a few more videos I shall have to chase up. Thanks
Hi great video. I'm looking to get into the sport. I'm 270, 6 1, older guy. I am looking for unbiased advise. If you could start all over again what motor, wing and trike or quad would you get.
Lucas,,, You're my hero man!!!!!!!!!!! I've been looking into this for a couple years and trying to decide on Hang Gliding or Parasailing, or Ultralight etc. I think I've settled on this though. Thanks for sharing your experience with all of us. You ROCK dude. Check out some of my sucky vids on RC and FPV stuff if you like.
I have been looking into this lately and I came across your video. WOW! I just wanted to say Thank You for this! It's helping me to get closer to crossing that line into this amazing stuff! How do I learn more about doing this in my area!? :)
AviatorShow Would you have any recommendations for someone in Northern Virginia if I can’t get down to AviatorPPG? I know there is a place in Warrenton,VA which is only like 30-40 minutes from me.
great video - as a guy that wants to get into the sport, do you recommend blackhawk paramotors and their combo package? or if your trainers at AviatorPPG would recommend them? looked like i saw their "edge" beginner glider in the background during your video - anyways thanks for the video! -Todd
I just bought gear but haven't flown or trained. 1 thing i dont like about paramotor training is the cost. I think its like $300 to take a motorcycle class.
It is a lot easier to die in a paramotor vs. a motorcycle. More complexity in the thing you're learning = more expensive training. It's well worth the course for the peace of mind.
What a great story. I have never paramotored or even flew before, but I could feel your first flight jitters.Question... during paraparking, is it possible to accidently be pushed backwards and inadvertently fly backwards when cutting the throttle back?
Je bent niet de enige, Floris! Ik werd zo'n zes jaar geleden ook aangestoken door het vliegvirus... Vlieg nu 2 jaar met een trike, en maak zo nu en dan een filmpje van de vliegerij met gortdroge humor. Twee hobby's in één. Echt te gek! Ik zou zeggen... ga ervoor!
I am sorry but this is not training. A couple of hours kiting and simulation is not sufficient to allow him to fly. I belive sooner or later injurie lawyers will be involved. Glad he had a very good experience.
Finally a video from a guy like me. High interest but a total newbie. Yeah, the videos from the dealers are informative but nice to hear the experience from a beginners point of view. The fear, the wonder, the mistakes, the successes, thanks for the unbiased info.

What a sensational video, thank you for making this Lucas!
I really enjoyed all the time lapses and clips Too much fun!

Mojo Power's yessir!
oh shit i didn't realize you watched paramotors :D you were great in no mercy btw :)
Haha! Thanks! Yeah, I've been a skydiver for a long time and now I'm looking into something new for this years entertainment. :-P I should have my paramotor built by the summer.
You should drop us a line sometime, would love to share your music :)
Really? You like it? Awesome! I'll hit you up via UA-cam DM. :-)

Lucas thank you for the video and your humility. I appreciate the lack of sensationalism; I could still sense your enthusiasm. Very encouraging.
Настырный парень! Захотел летать и не смотря на трудности дошел до своей мечты. Удачных полётов.

The best thing? He broke nothing! haha
i'm saving up for the Nitro 200 and this outstanding video convinced me to go with AviatorShow. Am I overly optimistic to believe that if I go crawbaby style, I can get thru training with nothing broken, no crashes??
Haha most of our students break nothing :) We'd love to have you Larry!
Eric, are there any financial institutions that finance the equipment and schooling that you know of?
Yessir, look at LightStream financing.
I saw this last year and wanted to find it out again. Really well put together vid, thanks for sharing

I've never flown and afraid of heights but my god this looks so amazing!

Hey man. Wonder if you would like to come on PPG Grandpas Paramotor Podcast and share your story of flight!
ery informative video of your timeline and events well done Lucas
Hi great video. I'm looking to get into the sport. I'm 270, 6 1, older guy. I am looking for unbiased advise. If you could start all over again what motor, wing and trike or quad would you get.
What caused the oscillation and how to prevent it? THAT would spook me for sure.

AviatorShow Would you have any recommendations for someone in Northern Virginia if I can’t get down to AviatorPPG? I know there is a place in Warrenton,VA which is only like 30-40 minutes from me.
Sadly, no I don't :/
Nice job Lucas. I also took my first flight in early November last year. What was the intermediate wing that you flew?
Did you have to buy all the Equipment, or did you rent it. what was the cost.
Thanks for sharing. Great video.
lucas do you fly often and where do you live.?
Great vid man!
Very insightful, thanks!
It would seem that AviatorPPG is just a few dozen miles from Disney. How close would they let you fly?

Great video and sweet landing! I'm glad you didn't go with the "FREE" training. ;)
What a great story. I have never paramotored or even flew before, but I could feel your first flight jitters.Question... during paraparking, is it possible to accidently be pushed backwards and inadvertently fly backwards when cutting the throttle back?
Well done
you are the man. so cool
I'm Murtadha from Iraq
Where do you live in America exactly??
Now i also really wanna start flying
Je bent niet de enige, Floris! Ik werd zo'n zes jaar geleden ook aangestoken door het vliegvirus... Vlieg nu 2 jaar met een trike, en maak zo nu en dan een filmpje van de vliegerij met gortdroge humor. Twee hobby's in één. Echt te gek!
Ik zou zeggen... ga ervoor!
well told story ☺
Do more paramotor content
Good call killing the engine. Only fly, when you are ready. 👍😁👍
that was Amazing
awesome! subbd
Did it scare you being so far up just sitting in a chair?
Why is there a discovery logo? That is copyright infringement. This is not a clip from discovery!!
