    I would LOVE for yous to do another show based entirely on science of the show Fringe (you said fringe quite a few times, so it had me thinking). Fringe is all about the...well, fringes of science. It would be fantastic if you guys were to dedicated some episodes (or an entire show) to talk about some of the science in the show, and go into depth.

    I think a series on psychopaths and sociopaths would be interesting. Or a series revolving around murderers and the scientific research done on convicted felons. Just an idea :) Trace you do an awesome job at delivering interesting topics and ideas to the world of the Internet. Thank you!!

    once couldnt find my can opener. i looked all over the house and the can opener wasnt found so I decided to wash the dishes in case i simply over looked the pile of dirty dishes. nothing appeared even after placing all of the dishes away. after an hour or so i found the can opener where it should be in the silverware drawer lying on top of the silverware. another time at another address the spatula was missing. this spatula was discovered missing when my midnight fried egg required a spatula. i pan flipped it instead. once again after an hour or so of searching, having experienced this before, i said the spatula will be in the drawer in the morning. rise and shine, the spatula was where i expected it to be. once put a key in my mailbox with the intention to send it through the black hole i created after hypothesizing time travel and telekinesis after analyzing donnie darko. the key reappeared in a suit jacket pocket,pocket, which was sewn shut. i had to rip the seam open to grab the key. i lost the key forever after that morning. it was placed in a drawer and never found again. there were 333 comments before this one. happy 333

      +Combinacijusx It seems like we're in the middle of another revolution now, that could _potentially_ lead to a society in which we can't expect the majority to work 8 hours/day. I think that eventually we'll find other things to do for money (i.e. other jobs) but things are changing so quickly that I and many others are worried that things will get worse before they get better in the job market.

    As Clarke once said, "Magic is just science we don't understand yet".
    If, one day, someone manages to perform genuine telekinesis in a controlled scientific environment, then all of the sudden you have tangible research and hard data nobody could deny. Then telekinetic research would become a hard science and would no longer be considered magic. Stuff like this could change the world and our understanding of reality as we know it.

    When he said “space travel”
    Energy and particles and how they react or behave is what i would like to learn more about. Don’t associate death or even conscious beings or any other stigma attached to paranormal events. In the case of a so called haunting I would approach it like a water leak or something , what are the patterns and what actual substance is causing it etc. i can throw a cup across the room but a better approach to understanding me doing this would be the fact that it’s (me) is a composite of carbon based atoms that is dense enough to create the energy needed to traject and object.
    See how I took the human or conscious paradigm out of it there ?
    That Is how paranormal events should be treated

His performance "art" pissed a lot of people off...When this performer faced his own mortality, Kaufman was fooled by a faith healer. Jim carry's reaction in the moment of realization that this faith healer was a flim flam "artist" will stay with me my whole life. I don't understand why people want to prove something that may make someone feel better, wrong. If believing a close relative or friend that died is "visiting" them helps them cope with losing their loved one, why not let them? Believe whatever you want to believe, as long as you are not hurting anyone else, whats the harm?
    Leave believers in the paranormal alone. We may not be able to prove in supernatural things but we can't disprove it either. People that want to take away others beliefs are just as bad as the people that tell a 2 year old there's no Santa. These people just want everyone else to be miserable.
    I told my kids (6 and 4) that their Grandpa (passed 2 weeks ago tomorrow) will visit them in their dreams "Dream Dates" we call them. To help them cope, so they aren't sitting there thinking "I will never see my Grandpa again". They saw him daily, he lived with us. Is this wrong? Is it wrong to tell my kids he is in their heart and will be there as long as they remember the good times with him?

    Before i get this comment my chest i have to explain first i am a person who will try to look at religion/spirituality/psychic/Aliens with a scientific, sceptic but open mind. (if that makes any difference to how you read my comment ill take it)
    Okay i have got to get this off my chest. Any Psychic, Clairvoyant, Healer or any one who claims they are into spiritual stuff, If they go openly into the public eye through whatever media or form that may be and claims that they can 100% guarantee that they can do fancy stuff like bend spoons and cure tumours or talk with the dead first time, without any other tries are MOSTLY fake, They seek success by exploiting peoples interests so that they can gain money and fame and that makes me sick to my stomach. Now i don't know how you can find honest Psychics or clairvoyants without having the slightest connection with them in some way (for me they were all my mums Friends/acquaintances) however all my friends so far in the spiritual way of things have never sought fame, or guaranteed 100% that something will happen and will never force someone to believe them.

    Modern science recognizes a singular mass that banged as the formation of this universe and all in it. But, why would this singular mass that banged only bang in one direction? Wouldn't it bang in basically a spherical shape? Is the fifth dimension (and probably other dimensions, different dimensions being defined by the different forces of nature that they operate by, [even the singular mass that existed and banged did so before our current forces of nature came about]), basically a spherical shape that our 4 dimensions of space time rest upon? Did the universe basically all come into existence at basically the same time when it reaches a certain spherical level? But then, how high is "up"? But, since this video deals with paranormal events, can we interact with this other dimension that our dimensions rest upon?
    And consider this: electromagnetic radiation energy has existed in this universe since basically day one, but yet it was only in the last couple of hundred years or so when humans discovered it's existence and started to figure out how to utilize it. What else is still "out there", (or "in here")? We truly do not know. Have fun trying to figure it out.

    • @soveriegn478
      @soveriegn478 8 років тому

      I like this comment because you give the idea that what is beyond could very well exist but no one knows yet. I think if it is real it must have its own physics to it. Our reality is held together by nuclear fission. So what about other reality's in universe's? I believe it must have some type of physics to it in order to exist. To assume there are no other reality's is very strange. I mean Multiverse Theory not heaven and hell ideology. Oh and for people who don't believe an apparition would have clothing stripped from them when they die? What if said phantom was just a burned image? Like old school monitors that you leave on and because you are to lazy to put on a screensaver, an image was burned into the screen. So from now on when you power down the last thing you masturbated to was still there. Could that be similar to people seeing a dead persons form? If so I still believe that the phantom is not really who or what you think it is. If Ted and Ron die but sue and Jill still see them , I don't think its really them. Just an image burned into our reality . oh shit simulation theory ahhhhhhhhhhhh

    • @charlesbrightman4237
      @charlesbrightman4237 8 років тому

      +Sove Riegn Thanks, but I have to disagree with you concerning our reality being held together by nuclear fission. I believe it to be electromagnetic forces and I believe there are probably only three forces of nature and not four as follows:
      1. In school with magnetism, we are taught that opposite polarities attract and like polarities repel. But inside the arc of a horseshoe magnet it's the other way around, like polarities attract and opposite polarities repel.
      2. Charged particles have an associated magnetic field with them.
      3. Electrons and protons are charged particles and have their associated magnetic fields with them.
      4. When the electron is in an atom at the very close proximity to the nucleus, it basically generates a 360 degree spherical magnetic field.
      5. Like charged protons stick together inside this field, while repelling the opposite charged electrons inside this field, while simultaneously attracting the opposite charged electrons across the inner portion of the electron's moving magnetic field.
      6. There are probably no such thing as "gluons".
      7. There are probably only three forces of nature and not four. Two of them, the strong nuclear force and the weak nuclear force, are derivatives of the magnetic field interactions between the electrons and protons.
      8. The nucleus is probably a magnetic field boundary.
      9. Quarks also supposedly have a charge and then would also probably have an associated magnetic field with them. Possibly a different magnetic field and/or arrangement for each of the six different type of quarks.
      10. The interaction of the quarks electromagnetic forces are how protons and neutrons are created and why protons and neutrons stick together inside a nucleus and do not just pass through as neutrinos do.
      11. There is probably a Magnetic Field Theory to the Atomic Structure.
      But, as I truly do not know what I do not know, I will be the first to admit that I could be wrong. But, it sure does seem to fit.

He enjoyed fantasy and was OK to relegate loose ends to faith. He didn't truly understand the scientific method nor did he have the will or education to understand proper science. He was content with satisfying his own comfortable conclusions and ignoring anything that contradicted them. Enjoy your wishy-washy feel good "answers", go stroke your ego. The video makes it sound as if the most revolutionary discoveries in human history were the result of concerted research efforts (germ theory, round Earth and orbiting the Sun being the examples given), but that's usually not how it goes down. More often than not these discoveries are made accidentally. Trying to explain a phenomenon with the prevailing theory, failing to do so, and then concluding that the theory must be flawed and offering up an alternative and testing that. Somewhat different to deciding that you believe in ghosts and setting out to prove it. Scientists do make and test hypotheses, sure (read: obviously), but that's not the method that usually results in unanticipated, world changing discoveries. Also, it's James* 'The Amazing' Randy. Probably the greatest name in the world.

    Well for one thing, people have always had the concept of psychics and knowing the future. Perhaps maybe there is a slight inherent tendency for people to gain knowledge from one another, perhaps it's just part of wanting to know more about each other and the future. Either way, if someone is able to do these things then they can, if they can't they can't. We can't study it until or unless someone comes forward and can prove it scientifically. If we can't then so be it. But if we can, that's where we can learn things. If not then we can put attention elsewhere. If so then this can be taken to forward elsewhere.

    Utilizing modern science:
    1. Modern science says that energy cannot be created nor destroyed. Hence, energy is eternally existent or modern science is wrong.
    2. Modern science says that we have cells that come into existence on a daily basis inside of our body.
    So, since I have a body with energy and cells in it:
    A part of me is eternally existent and a part of me is being born anew on a daily basis. My body extends from eternity past until now. I exist in the "eternal now". Rising to a higher level of thought, the "now" that I exist in (which extends from eternity past until now), is "eternal". I am currently an eternally consciously existent being with choices, (basically at "God's" basic level). And this applies to you too.
    Modern science says that a singular mass "banged" which then went on to create the forces of nature that the universe operates by as well as everything in existence in the universe, including me and my consciousness. I am a very part of that mass that "banged" which existed before this universe existed. And this applies to you too.
    [But then again, does anything at all even exist per se, or does only this singular mass that banged exist in the form of all things? How could I ever cease to exist if "I" never ever existed at all in the first place? This singular mass that banged, that has a consciousness, (as evidenced by the consciousness "you" and "I" apparently are experiencing), is existing as all things.]
    Personally to me:
    "Space" is pure energy itself. Wherever space is, energy is. Wherever energy is, space is.
    "Time" is the flow of that energy.
    I am a very part of space and time itself. And this applies to you too.
    And what exactly of the placebo effect and utilization of visualization techniques? Mind over matter? Just energy interacting with energy primarily by utilizing energy frequencies? I believe so. Everything in this universe is basically energy interacting with energy. Learn about energy and how to manipulate energy as the basis for learning about everything in existence in this universe.

      Appears the truth is too harsh for some so my previous comments have been deleted. I used to know a guy like you that said he wanted the truth and was curious but after a while I realized he was in it only as an edifice of distraction and entertainment. I am revolted by your lack of sincerity ot understanding and truth. You make decisions based on emotion instead of factual data and logic. You're no different then the theists and new agers.

      +Donald Baker Whatever, life itself is just an illusion anyway from the human perspective as far as eternity is concerned. One day we all consciously die from something, forget everything we ever knew and experienced, and then one day in future eternity are forgotten. So, our true destiny is to cease to exist, forget everything, and then are forgotten. (Or so it currently appears). If you or anybody else out there in internet land has any evidence to the contrary, please post it here. I am enjoying my illusion, hope you do the same. But, really, I don't care if you do or not. I think that some people just can't handle the thought that something that is unproven, might be provable at some point. Remember when Rogue Waves were a myth? What about the Giant Squid? We now know those are true, but before you were "a fool".

  • @StefanTravis
    @StefanTravis 8 років тому +6

    So for you "paranormal" just means "not yet explained". But for others it means "explainable by mysticism, but not by science". Or "unexplainable even in principle".
    If you speak to ghosthunters of ESP enthusiasts, they don't _want_ an explanation. They want to believe in magic.

      @WAX1138 8 років тому

    • @grasshopper2462
      @grasshopper2462 8 років тому +2

      +Stefan Travis don't blanket everyone into one category just because you don't like their beliefs. I believe in esp, but that doesn't mean I think it's not a scientific thing. I've experienced the sense of feeling someone looking at you when you thought you were alone, that doesn't mean it was magic, I could just be "brain waves" that travel and somehow allow one persons thoughts to picked up by another's focusing on them as if our consciousness is all one by existence and that it's apart of reality itself.
      The same thing goes for ghost. A scientific explanation could be that extraterrestrial beings use technology so advanced, allowing them to go into different dimensions or plains of space, that humans thought these occurrences were supernatural or divine and that these beings were "spirits" or "angels".

    • @StefanTravis
      @StefanTravis 8 років тому +1

      grass hopper Science deals in what is definable and observable. The "brainwaves" you posit are neither, ditto your "different dimensions or plains of space".
      The "technology so advanced" is the old science fiction handwave used to "explain" the fictional physics of Star Trek.
      Giving magic a sciency sounding name doesn't stop it being magic.

    • @grasshopper2462
      @grasshopper2462 8 років тому

      +Stefan Travis What do you not understand about the idea of something like esp being real but is something we don't understand because it's out of our knowledge of science, magic isn't real so if people have premonitions of things that were yet to happen then it's scientific, there's no such thing as magic.

    • @WAX1138
      @WAX1138 8 років тому

      +grass hopper Check this out. Our neo cortex is pico seconds behind the actual sensory stimuli and said stimuli are occurring at the speed of light and sound which are not instantaneous although they are extremely quick. To keep our perception in the moment and in doing so helping us survive and react The other segments of our brain have to process and anticipate probabilities before they coalesce into virtual certainty. This is a fact of neuroscience. Probabilities are coalescing at a vector to our conscious perception, anticipating and telling our conscious region of the brain the story of what happened. There is a lag but also to some degree our subconscious mind is perceiving things that are in the future from our perspective.

    Their is only one fact in science, the fact that all fact's will be changed/disproven (they are not my words). Sample's of ESP - these are my thoughts. "I can feel u burning holes in the back of my head", "I can tell when someone dislikes me", "Deja vu", Finishing another persons sentence or say the same things at the same time. there's heap like these one. but that enough for a crowd who doesn't really care. anywho, back to that focus part. how to put this. ur paranoia in just as smart as u, so u cant out think urself to force a reading, that's losing focus an think to much. bit like giving urself to many choice's. typically it would be ur first or second thought, oh an speaking of thought what does it sound like.. most say it sounds like themselves, which means thought doesn't really have it own sound, which is what the rest of the people would say. so in that u couldn't tell between ur own thoughts an someone else's. i'll end this hear as I don't need to prove anything. u can set urself on this path (as it were) an prove it to urself, or u don't HAHA it doesn't really matter.

    Thank you. We'd be light years farther in our evolution if we could get over our own fear and small mindedness. Miracles are only mystical in nature until they are explained and science is only fact until it's again not. On and on. It's a shame so much life is wasted and destroyed for not.

    James Randi goes too far in debunking things. On an episode of an Arthur C. Clark show he asked dowsers (dowsing is the paranormal power that seems to work best under experimental conditions) to distinguish between pipes containing flowing and still water and to detect magnetic fields. The dowsers did better than chance with the water but failed with the magnetic fields. Randi combined the two results to produce a result that wasn't statistically significant. Clark thought this was unacceptable and said that Randi shouldn't have combined the results - the experiments really showed that dowsers have some ability to detect flowing water but are unable to detect magnetic fields.

    Not that I believe in the legend but your contention the Patterson "bigfoot' film was an admitted fake I think is not true. It has to me been argued that Patterson proclaimed its authenticity to his dying day and the other known witness has never admitted a hoax either. If that isn't correct would someone direct me to a source to view/read the admission of hoax. I would find that information helpful in a recent disagreement.
