    In these times I hope people realize how valuable these kind of cooking tutorials are. She just taught us how to make the most delicious gnocci in bulk that cost next to nothing per meal. Amazing 🙏

    Good recipe but hard to listen to all the piercing repetitive questions. Nonna speaks clearly and does not need to be repeated. Watching her is what is fun.

    That is exactly how my mother taught me how to make gnocchi by hand not the fork. It brings back so many memories of my Mom and I miss her so much. Thank you for sharing and look forward to more recipes. Buon Anno!

    In Argentina, every 29th of the month we celebrate Gnocchi day. It is a tradition that came from our italian ancestors. We put money under the plate when we eat and then someone from the table will win it.

    Nonna can speak fine and she is well understood! But after 30 years of professional cooking and restaurant service, we have never seen an interviewer; videographer; or camera person put her/his dirty hands into the Chef's or Cooks process. Please, we found your channel, if you respect Nonna and your creative efforts, stop putting your hands into the food. It's not alright!

      They are not in a professional kitchen, so in my opinion it is just fine for Laurie to be at home with her dear Mother teaching all of us….sorry you found that offensive but we all have our own thoughts and opinions….”Laurie, keep up the good work”….that’s all I have to say!!

    I love your videos. I think I only have two more to watch. Reminds me of when I was a child. My grand parent are from Florence, Italy and when I was a child my grand mother was always in the kitchen making wonderful dishes. Nonna, you are a very special lady. I saw in your videos you can your own sauce. Do you think you will be making a video during your next canning process? It would be a great video. Best Regaurds

    WOW, she makes her gnocchi like I have done, just my own attempt at veganizing gnocchi and finding out I just love it like that. I don’t have as much flour though (but oil and no egg) I sometimes make it with sweet potato as well. Gnocchi is just such a special dish, it is comfort food on steroids and so easy to make. I don’t know why not more people make it. The other day I found purple sweet potato here for the first time. I was thinking of trying to make gnocchi with the only one I have left, as the color is soooo beautiful. Maybe serve it on a bed of vegan cream sauce?

    I can’t believe you’re her granddaughter. You act like you’re from another country and have no idea about this. Have you NEVER made it or only ate it? She works hard and is very patient. So many questions as if you came from somewhere else.

    In Italy everyone has their own recipe to make gnocchi. Someone puts more flour, others put more potatoes and an egg instead. But if you make them with love, they will always turn out beautifully 😍😍😍😍 Brava Nonna Paolone, i tuoi gnocchi sono favolosi! Un bacio dall'Italia😘😘😘😘

    This is a very nice old recipe for gnocchi. It's not the pillowy type we are used to these days in restaurants and such.
    Nonna's recipe, using gluten rich flour (bread flour) and water is making a different texture, which would be very firm if boiled for only few mins. as some viewers were wondering.
    The longer boiling time, soften the gluten that was developed during the long kneading process. Very interesting video, minus the dialogue as mentioned by many.

      My Italian Mother in law made potato gnocci and it was 80% steamed potato put through a ricer (what this Nonna used) and 20% plain flour. Too much flour makes them rubbery. My MIL's gnocci was light and fluffy when cooked fresh (they are cooked in water brought to a rolling boil and are ready when they float to the top, 2 minutes) and the leftovers delicious fried in butter or olive oil the next day! Yum! That''s how I make potato gnocci!

    I think the daughter is trying to be helpful...Give her a break! I am Italian and I have seen many gnocchi recipes, but I have never seen one where the dough is kneaded like that. It looks more like a pasta gnocchi than a potato gnocchi. I’m sure this is very good too!

    I watched 1 video about how to make Gnocchi a couple of weeks ago. This must be the hundredth vid on the topic popping up in recommendations since then. I also watched Strawberry Fields by The Beatles and got bombarded by strawberry jam recipes. It might be a while before we are overthrown by our new AI overlords.

    First off everyone who's criticizing on how to make gnocchi properly most likely arent even Italian or a chef. Secondly, ppl from different parts of italy have different variations on how to make it. Sometimes polenta is used, eggs, just flour or a combination of everything. If any of the ppl in this thread had a brain would see she kept saying it was too soft. Well that's why she didnt use alot of potatoe. Using potatoes is to make the gnocchi light not dense. She wanted her gnocchi to be more flour bozos.

  • @RodSherwood1
    @RodSherwood1 6 місяців тому

    The whole idea in making light “pillowy” style gnocchi is to remove as much water from the potatoes as possible making it possible to use less flour making it lighter. This recipe does exactly the opposite, actually adding water which is why she needs to add 4 lbs of flour. I would imagine of you ate 3 of these in a sitting it could be a world record. 🪨
