- The Highlands Full Film
The Island Project was an adventure of a life time, I learnt so much during the month but it also left me a whole new set of questions! The horses didn’t need me on the island they were totally free but they did have a restriction....the water around it!
I wanted to now know what happens to a relationship if you travel on a journey, could I back two horses, be able to ride them and have them at liberty while traveling across the Scottish highlands, every step we took would be unknown, if I lost them they would literally be able to run over thousands of acres.
This film is about my journey, I camp out every night, film myself and carry all my kit and equipment. The aim is to cross the Scottish highlands coast to coast with two unhandled Highland Ponies (they hadn’t even been taught to lead before) it turned out to be quite an adventure!
Horses
Hector - Highland Pony
Hewie - Highland Pony
Dog - Tati (resuce Pointer)
note Jeremy met up with me when I wanted to get on Hector for the first time, to help me film and make sure I was safe.

How is this just a you tube video? The quality makes it like something I’d expect to see on BBC.
I think it has
Dearest Emma, I've followed you and your horses for some time now. I recently lost my life long friend, my connemara mare, and seeing your videos being tears to my eyes, now. It reminds me so of her and me!
Rest well, Silver.
Amanda Larsen so sorry to hear you lost your Connie friend, thank you for supporting our Chanel, I hope you one day find another to join you. Emx
I am totally amazed by you, & the courage & willingness to explore & take daring adventures! It touches my heart to see the love you have for all your dear animals. I was lucky to live in
Northern Scotland at a wonderful community called Findhorn in 1981. Watching your video of going to the Highlands with two of your untrained horses brought
wonderful memories back to me of Scotland. I am watching every video you have made or will make. You are such an inspiration to anybody who loves animals & loves adventures.
Thank you for sharing yourself, your wonderful animals, & your exciting adventures. How lucky your animals are to have you.
I wish I could live in the English countryside like you.....maybe in my next life time!!
Best to you, Pamela
I'm sure you've heard this a thousand times but, I'm going to say it again - you are the kindess, coolest, bravest chick ever! Visiting you one day is on my bucket list of things to do before I die :) Love your videos Emma - I can only imagine the amount of work that goes into making them. Shout out from Boston - autumn has arrived in New England, so pretty.
For one everyone but you and the one under u might be bc you said chick so yeh
"wow".. The only thing i can get out of my mouth rn
I cry, its so beautifull how she is treating the horses. She respects and trusts them as what they are....!!
I feel positivily shocked...!!! 🙂
This is what I think of when I hear the term “natural horsemanship”. To build a relationship first and slowly develop the trust so the horse is willing and eager to participate. Very inspiring! Hope you all are still doing well!
This is an amazing story about how horses should really be treated and the trust you must share before they allow you to climb onto their backs.
Please continue your adventures and sharing. I feel like I took a spiritual journey with you
What a fantastic story. Thanks for the enormous effort to film and produce this. Great animal psychology. Simply outstanding.
Really enjoyed the video. I love your attitude. You are a beautiful brilliant young woman best of luck with the pony's for the future.
Thank you so much!
Very moving. More and more I've come to appreciate the gentler, more slow paced, training methods seemingly more employed by women trainers. Shouldn't come as a shock to me because back when I worked with horses I worked with some who preferred women over me and I was a much less aggressive male trainer.
I cannot believe they went from completely unhandled to being ridden within only 10 days! the most impressive thing i've ever seen! just subscribed ;)
What a truly inspiring and inspired woman you are....a true Eliza Doolittle even the deer followed you.....brilliant video
Thanks so much 😊
Hector being so calm is him saying: I trust you."
This felt like a whole documentary I loved it so much
I loved that they probably thought they were gonna be traveling like this forever and we’re totally okay with it XD 😫😍
When she brought the horses in that house thing I giggled that was so cute 😅🤩😍
I love how no one is asking about the dog and how his such a trooper for taking on the journey
Brilliant. Beautifully filmed. Well done.
I can't believe this gals courage. This adventure was just amazing.
Emma is truly remarkable! May all of you be safe, wherever your journey takes you.
That was something very, very special to watch. Thank you Emma, Hector, Hughie and Tattie.
This is an amazing video. Thank you for it. I never even knew about this style of training horses. I can tell you truly care.
Thank you so much!
I bought my first Highland this year, and now I'll never have any other breed. They're so brave, gentle, and kind - not to mention beautiful, strong, and hardy!
Mine is still young, but I ride out alone with him into the mountains all the time and feel completely safe with him. He's much like Hector - bombproof from the start. He bonded with me completely on the first day, but from what I gather, that's just the nature of the breed. I love them so much!
Congratulations on your boys, by the way! They're lovely!
Wow! This Adventure with the ponies made me cry it was so beautiful. I first started to tear up when both ponies followed you in the rest shelter/house and they started grooming each other. Emma the way you communicate with horses and actually all your animals that you have is the most Beautiful thing to watch and to learn by.
I absolutely LOVE You and your horses - this is the best horse youtube channel.
Thank You so very much for sharing your Gift with us. GGG!=‘sGiveGodGlory

I randomly came across this video and I'm so glad I did. This was such a wonderful treat
I’m living vicariously through your videos
I cried most of the way through this video, what an epic, beautiful, wondrous journey. You are amazing Emma. Those ponies are amazing. For someone who lives in a little brick box in a cement jungle watching this was so far removed from anything I know, but I loved every second of it. You are so brave and strong, an inspiration to women everywhere. :)
Thank you so much!!
This story and the videography are inspirational and heartwarming. I had tears while watching the first ride, and felt such joy watching the bond grow between kind human and horses learning to trust. I wish all humans were so kind while interacting with the animal kingdom. Thanks for documenting your journey! Beautifully done.
Emma can you make more videos with Huey and Hector? I absolutely love them!
G’day Emma & Co, you are such a gutsy inspirational beautiful person, with true grit and inner determination; Yet intelligent enough to know your limits and the limits of your beautiful ponies. Congratulations and well done, beautiful film, terrific editing, extremely well put together, I believe you should win a small film award! Thank GOD you have really terrific sponsors with great gear suitable for the environment! On a spoon note I use a splade it’s a spoon knife fork all in one, perhaps you could get sponsorship from stokes or a similar co? I look forward to the next instalment of Hughey & Hectors Horsey Adventures and development.. Now time for R&R...for you and your beautiful dog..Lol... Much love and light xox Victoria Australia
I can’t believe you made friends with a deer!!!❤️❤️❤️ deer are my favorite animals❤️❤️❤️ you really made a confident bond with them!❤️❤️

Can’t articulate how spectacular this was. Thank you, truly beautiful!

So fun to watch the relationship evolve over the days.. really cool to watch.
Wow, you're a hell of a owner. *high five* that actually looked fun!
As a horse owner I’m so impressed with your horsemanship and loved the video,I got here as I’m seriously thinking of moving my herd to the highlands.... subscribed ❤️
You are one amazing Spirit Emma... Watching this for the first time and you have filled me with courage to get on my Morgan horse / Dreamer. She has never been ridden before except in the sea.
I live alone and my animals are my life.
You’re so gutsy! As someone who would love such an adventure I’m very grateful to watch you actually do it. Thanks so much for filming and sharing. 🙏🏼
I am in awe of you, even wild animals recognize and want to be near a good soul. I'm sure your parents are very proud❣️🙋♀️ and I so love your country, so beautiful!
Aww! You are AMAZING! The way you bonded with those horses! I want to do that! Love you!
Thank you so much!
You are welcome!
Some humans are just special. You're definitely one of them.
That dog is an amazing camera operator !
This video encouraged me to take the plunge and go walkies with my two retired trekking ponies Georgie and Daisy. I live in the far north of Scotland,70 miles north(!) of Achiltibuie. So now we're walking mostly without lead rope (still have the head collars on for now), I love showing my girls the surrounding hills and lochs. So much learning there, so much trust. Thank you for nudging us on.
Can I come visit? I would love to see Scotland/horses!!!
Incredible! Best video I’ve seen in ages. I so hooked! Marvellous woman.
Epic indeed!! Thanks much for all the effort you invested! I loved every aspect of the documentary!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the way you are with your horses !!! It is simple, true, grounded, responsible, conscious and professional with so much positive energy and always a smile. And this is ( for me ) what makes you so special and horses can feel & understand that ! I am happy that you are what you are a wonderful enrichment !!!!!!
I've just discovered your videos Emma and I am HOOKED! Thank you so much for sharing!
Glad you like them!
That looks very hard. Especially with untrained horses
Thanks for the likes guys
Seriously Emma, I have said it to you before but I really enjoy your films. This one was excellent. Really high quality camera work. Great editing and sound track. You brough us along not as viewers but as team members and part of the journey. And you told your story so well. The journey with the two lads was top class!!
this was the coolest and most inspiring video EVER
Thank You
You should make documentarys. Or more of these videos into a tv show, the quality and content is just too good ✌️
You are so brilliant ❤️ Hugely inspiring in so many ways. WELL DONE!!!!
Emma,
Each time I watch one of your videos I think I have probably just watched the best one ........ until I go to play the next one.
You deserve an award for bravery, perseverance and genuine human kindness. If I tried to do what you did here I probably would have sat down and cried a few times and felt overwhelmed.
You make these survival shows on TV look like a joke.
God bless you and give you the health and energy to do what you do for many many years ahead.
Thank you for kind words
I live about 10 miles from Alness so I have had the honour of riding on some of these paths. My aunt had 3 highlands the mare was such a madam but we loved her
Awesome. Just amazing. I’m training a 3 year old from scratch and yes it’s hard but so rewarding. The bonds you grow with them are just so touching. Keep doing what your doing, and good luck wit Huey!
Heart warming~ The wonderful bonding of human and animal~ Post more please~
Thank you for sharing your epic adventure with us. I have much respect and admiration for you. While watching, I was deeply moved by your courage to take this on as well as your skillsets and passion for training your horses. With you, Huey and Hector are living their best lives. 💜
Glad you enjoyed it!
You are so great Emma! What a perfect way to bond with horses:-)
This was absolutely beautiful. Well done in every way. :)
Thank you so much!
Your training techniques are really smart and very helpful
This is all so wholesome i loved watching this
Well.... that was utterly brilliant
Wonderful video, your a real life miracle girl....☺
That's just the nature of the Highland pony. When I was working at a trekking centre in the 70's, they would bring unbroken ponies off the hill, down at weekends and I would have them carrying trekkers by midweek! They're really solid and not flighty in the least. If you just act like you have everything in control they go along with it (which is the basis for all horse training...convince them you're the leader and they follow your lead). No big deal. But I would still love to do this, the weather and everything else is so unpredictable that I think she is a brave girl!
You are amazing, I would give anything to know someone like you when I was young, I am too old now! Be careful on your wonderful journey👍👍❤️🇺🇸
just found this acc and already fell in love after the 1st few seconds
michal guliamov SAMEEEE
I found it yesterday
same!
Nobodies gonna talk about how friendly that deer was?😂
I just watched this whole thing and am SUPER happy I did. WOW What a journey, what a story, what an experience. I think a lot of people don't believe us when we say the midges are SO BAD. A lot of countries scoff and roll their eyes and say: 'well at least you dont have mosquito's' but they have NO IDEA what billions of biting flies do to a person.
There are not many events as heartwarming as the relationship between person and animal. You took these two, untamed horses on a journey, and gained two trustworthy companions. It was a pleasure to witness your patient, skilled tending to yourself and your horse apprentices. Kudos to your skilled crew making the experience even more satisfying. Congrats to all on a feat accomplished with outstanding memories and results.
You are a force to be reckoned with! You are not afraid to go into nature on a 10-day treck with 2 untrained horses! I am impressed.
Brilliant! I loved watching. Thank you.
Omg I totally support this training method it’s sad when ppl use other training methods bc they think bc their wild there very dangerous so they tie up as many ropes on them and bits and wips and it’s sad I love this training method and it’s so uniquie
I agree so much 😊 they should use this method and stop the other mean methods!😡
Beautiful landscapes, beautiful trip, beautiful relationship you create with your horses... Beautiful you. Indipendent, genuine girls like you are a pride! ;)
Thank you so much!
My first video now a subscriber! Terrific intuitive technique in listening and responding according to horse's mood, personality, temperment.
you are so amazing thank you for sharing your journey with us.❤❤❤
Massive respect for your courage, your goals and your life! Beautiful.
You are a real life Disney Princess. That deer knew 😍😍😍
What an amazing journey! Nicely done for all of you, and a joy to watch.
That was amazing. It inspires me to work on a closer bond with my horses.
You are a beautiful amazing horse woman training 2 incredible horses. What an amazing journey.
I have wanted horses all my life and have never had the experience.
Truly amazing.
Love this video and the country is so beautiful where you are.
Please show more
What an awesome experience.
Thank you so much!
now that's how u train a horse; with love, care and patience
You are an amazing, courageous and talented young woman. What a lovely trek you took us on. It was like a fairy tale with a spiritual connection established with the horses. They acted like they enjoyed the journey, too! You were born to do this, for you have a very natural connection and great respect for your animals and they have welcomed you into their herd! Just beautiful to watch.
Be safe always!🐴🐎♥️💕🙏😇🐕🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️
I love watching every post from you Emma. You are an amazing trainer and I don't know anyone braver than you. Thanks so much for this one. My heart was in my throat more than once. Don't want to sign off without telling you how much I have learned from you. I've been around horses much of my life but your common sense approach has simply wonderful results. All the Best.
I cannot tell you how much i enjoyed this wonderful video. I rescued a highland 1 year old 8 years ago... my friend now has her and she shows the same wonderful temperament and willingness. She is liberty trained and having a wonderful life. You are amazing.😉😁
Absolutely outstanding!! I'm so glad I found your channel!!
I love the relationship you make with all of your animals - so heartwarming! Thank you for sharing!
That was amazing Emma, so lovely to go on the journey with you, Hector was a tough cookie, such a brave pony. I have sampled the Scottish midges, horrible little beasties !!
Emma you are an inspiration of how we can live side by side with our animal friends. I love your videos and the whole feeling I get from them. Many thanks
