Cripplingly. Crippling underrated means something different.

morrissey calling johnnys guitar parts “simple” while i can barely play hand in glove 😭

I think he meant “simple” as in modest and emotive and melodic as opposed to rock god guitar solo playing. the type of simple that takes a lot of genius to do :D

@@jizanthapus3099 Exactly, simple as opposed to pretentious.

Morrissey’s solo albums lack the light melodic touch that Johnny Marr contributed.

"Cripplingly underrated" :-0. Moz with that humor! When I had my Smiths epiphany in 96' I hadn't heard certain songs ( Girl Afraid in particular) yet. The songs were so "musical" that the guitar didn't stand out in the way I had experienced it with other bands I had listened to thus I got the band but didn't regard Johnny's playing as particularly special at the time. Johnny's playing is special and inspirational. Things change.

Johnny Marr has NEVER been underrated here in England. He has always been considered a bit of a 'Guitar God' in the U.K. Still is. I suspect that Morrisey believes that 90% of The Smiths' success was down to him and he's throwing a bone to Marr here. Only a non musician would call Marr's guitar playing "rudimentary". Morrissey being a passive aggressive bitch here

Nah, I don't like morrisey either, but he always thought the smiths (& himself and johnny) were underrated, not famous enough and never played on the radio. Whether he was right or wrong about it is another story (he was wrong). But he genuinely believed it and 25% of his book is a repetition of that story

Morrissey should've kept his mouth 100% shut except when he sang.

He said nothing wrong here, and like any other person, he has the right to speak freely.

Morrissey suggesting Marr was crimminally underrated in the UK. Not true. Ever. Always respected - back in the Smiths days, the immdediate post Smiths era, 20 years ago... 30 years ago. 10 years ago. Now. Morrissey projecting as per usual...

After smiths Johnny hadn't got very successful career. Morrissey outshining Johnny on stage was part of the reason band broke up

@@vurande440 Utter nonsense. He had a successful career the minute he left the Smiths! What are you talking about? Re your assertion Morrissey outshining Johnny on stage was a reason band broke up - again total fabrication. You need to go away - have a long think about what you wrote and apologise.

@@timhall3575 you are a bit arrogant. I did't say he has unsuccessful career. I said it is not so very. And it is more related to the pop star icon status, not the art itself. The real reason band breoke up hasn't revealed, so we have a few suggestions from different people including both Morrissey and Johnny many of which lead to the fact that Johnny wanted more recognition
