There’s something about seeing these 2 legends drinking tea. Phil calling Dean baby and hun is just awesome and you can see Dean loved it. Sure you can tell there were some mistakes in the clip but they played off it. This was television gold. This was entertainment. I can’t wait until my niece is older so I can show her the classics, including this.
The reason Dean was the best, was because he would do it so effortlessly with such humor. He had the voice of a drunk angel and yet he’d hit insane vocal lunges without breaking a sweat. He made it look so easy, all the while being hysterical
Two great entertainers -- consummate professionals who made it look easy, And in this sketch they're genuinely having fun, and you can see the mutual admiration for each other's talent.
Great old vaudeville act. These two men were the two coolest men to ever share a stage. Dean throw just tosses out the line I want to hear the band and “Les Brown”.
Dean Martin & Phil Harris enjoying an afternoon soirée. This was great! I'm 57 now, but I'll never forget the afternoon soirées my mother would have on our screened-in back porch. She'd invite the ladies from our neighborhood and I'd always eat the leftover tea sandwiches.
Dean Martin and Phil Harris both cultivated the showbiz persona of affable drunks. For years Harris was a regular on the Jack Benny Show where he was the orchestra leader and was the constant but of jokes about his supposed drinking. Martin really was a heavy drinker, though never during or immediately before shows. But he had a reputation as one of the great Hollywood party animals (back when that didn't imply anything chemical). It was said he was the only man who could drink his pal Frank Sinatra under the table.
I just absolutely LOVE the sexy swagger of security in their masculinity to be "cute" and use the pet names, the "babies" and they are genuinely amused. No flexing nuts to be macho, just coooool as the other side of the pillow. Minus the racism, I would've liked to live in this era of men and women❤And both of their voices🥺😍Oh...!
Love PH's voice accent. Who can forget O'Malley the Alley Cat & other characters he so brilliantly performed....never heard a more charming alleycat!!!😻
How awesome this performance was. Phil Harris and Dean Martin didn't disappoint me one bit! The legends.. It was so much fun and laughters watching this video. They'll always be remembered. Thank you for uploading. 🎄Happy holidays🙂to all.
Mr Harris used to visit a hotel bar where I also used to spend some time. He was the life of the bar, but he wasn't drinking tea... it was nice to see a celebrity who wasn't so full of himself that he couldn't mix with the locals in Monterey, California, and leave under his own steam. 😊
There was something cut out at 00:09. The tea service was brought out by some young ladies and Phil said something naughty. I know because I saw it when it was broadcast.
IMO I think they were so good friends that they could read each other. I don't think you could pull it off as good as they did if you did not have that chemistry.
During one appearance, Phil was getting a little loose with the blue ad libs. As Dean was recovering from one of his laughing fits, Phil said, "I don't know what you're sellin' but I'll end it!" Game, set and match!
Look for the Bare Necessities, the simple bare necessities, forget about your worries and your stripes. Look for the Bare Necessities and Mother Nature recipe and just the Bare Necessities of life.
The only Man who could say "Baaabbyy" and make it sound smooth as silk.
Absolutely

This clip is a Treasure.
Love this clip
The timing; the inflection and modulations; the smiling cadence in the rhythm of the voice..beautiful and magical.

Two masters at work .
Your niece will probably only see all the booty shaking ...that we call "music" today! Alas!
I concur! Golden!
Tea? HA
It's hilarious 😂

There is absolutely no one like those two
That is the kind of performance that I don't know that you can show to today's kids and they would understand but it is incredible
Jesus Dean Martin has an amazing voice.
Two old pros, having a great time.
this clip deserves 50 million views
This is hilarious!!! Phil Harris was very under-rated imo. 🤗😍
I agree
Yes
Laurie McCain: Well said; he certainly was.
Yes he was. He was cooler than the Dino. I say that with respect but its true.
Check out his radio show
You can clearly see why everyone loves dean,,he has a very loving personality.. Lord bless you Mr Martin..
OHHHHHHH THIS IS STRONG TEA IT MELTED MY SPOON.

we still got actors, comedians and singers but these are ENTERTAINERS (the mma of performance art)... we dont have entertainers anymore
Why is this far more enjoyable than what’s on tv just now?

Watching from Portugal in 2024 and loving every bit.
Thank you Kindly Mr Martin and Mr Harris ❤
100% absolute legends. There will never be another Phil Harris or Dean Martin.
Great old vaudeville act. These two men were the two coolest men to ever share a stage. Dean throw just tosses out the line I want to hear the band and “Les Brown”.
Exactly right. The vaudeville act was "Gallagher and Shean".
They make it look so effortless

They still do. They're just not in the entertainment business.
The talent on show here is outrageous
This was a real treat.

They did not have digitally enhanced audio software to make them sound better. Dean and Phil were so talented, they did not need help.

👏👏
And very lubricated
@@hankkingsley9300 Hey, now!
"masculinity"? Really? I'm starting to doubt Dean was straight.
@@hankkingsley9300 reminds me of Phil's line in Aristocats : "BAsted??? He's been MARINATED in it" Referring to a goose drunk on white wine
I Love Dean Martin With All My Heart And Always Will
A great timeless humor lost in meda today..
I get the distinct feeling that there's something other than tea in those cups...
Probably not. But possibly. 😁🍇🍷🍸🍹🍾🍻🍺😄
What kind of alcoholic drink does one put a sugar cube into?
There's def some brown in that cup.
"He spills more than I drink."
Cool and cooler - you figure which is which - I can’t.
God you can tell it's baloo the bear, little John and O'malley 😂
and Patou the basset in Rockadoodle
Oh yeah!

Never not smile at this clip.😊
Brilliant!! Those days are gone forever.
Realmente me alegra a cualquier hora bajo cualquier SITUACIÓN. Thank you kindly Mr. Martin and Mr H.
God, give us all folks, plus back. Great days of entertainment.
Love this with Dean and Phil with mike and cookies. It was funny.

I don't think a lot of people know Phil Harris and how great he was
The OG cool drunk!
@@jangelini my second ex-wife introduced me to p h i l Harris in 1991 with that's what I like about the South
Well, he was Baloo the bear. Thats how I got to know him :-)
This is really great. The styles are so different
Hey now ‘
this is wonderful!!😁
Pure delight to watch!
I love Dean Martin, Phil Harris, Baloo the bear...
can you imagine spending a night out with these two guys!!
lol...gives a new meaning to living life
Nice to see Baloo/Thomas O'Malley on The Dean Martin Show! Lol
Watching the classic Jungle Book cartoon movie. ❤

Mr. Gallagher and Mr. Shean.... For those too young to know an old vaudeville team...
Al Shean was uncle to The Marx Brothers.

Wonderful
True entertainers sadly now a lost art.
They both died in 1995..how sad. Legends.
Very slick
2:32 he was NOT talking about hot chocolate. I was today years old when I realized that
Yeah baby😀
Gallagher & Shean, may they never be forgotten
2:03 Here dean is soooooo funny and handsome ... what a man ❤ RIP legend 🥺👑
The best
That's 110% barreled tea in that cup 🤣

Top Class. Friends drinking and singing
These two pros do not need a laugh track.
Orange peko 1959
That was a very good year!
"Don't hang your hat here, we may not be coming back this way."
Fab.
They're doing Gallagher and Shean one of the most legendary vaudeville teams. Al Shean of Gallagher and Shean was the uncle of The Marx Brothers.
"'Positively Mr. Gallagher; Absolutely Mr.Shean". Or something like that. The 78 record is in the attic. Need to go up there. These two are super !
Well Dean is so cool but he ain't any cooler the old Phil. Man what a time.
Wonga is the best!
Nothing like old school entertainment nothing
Could someone explain what was said at 4:28 about the brisk, when everyone bursts out laughing? Thanks!
they're referrin to the jewish bris which is when a newborn son is named and circumcised, hence the cut it quick comment
Baloo!!!
I know now, that it takes only 6 minutes to fall in love. Huh.
Yassss
I love their own take on vaudeville's Mr Gallegher.
What was the background music called?
During one appearance, Phil was getting a little loose with the blue ad libs. As Dean was recovering from one of his laughing fits, Phil said, "I don't know what you're sellin' but I'll end it!" Game, set and match!
They don't make them like this any more
Excellent excellent excellent 👏🤣
"That's a blacksmiths job if I ever heard" must have meant something DIRTY back in the day.
This song was done over a few times with the original by Gallagher and Sheen back in 1920's. I could be wrong because I hadn't been born yet
Baloo the bear lol
The rest of the boat crew took it really hard when Phil died.
There's a wee bit more than Orange Pekoe '59 in those cups, I think... And what on earth does Dean pull out of his pocket at the beginning?
The fake spoon
Gallagher and Shean would be proud!
Phil did the Baloo thing
This is the latest song stuck in my mind nobody else knows it
Literally millions KNEW it. It's a vaudeville staple 120 years old.
Biloo !!!!
Baloo!
