They both came from similar Italian-American Catholic backgrounds, and were close with their families growing up (as opposed to Jerry, who recounted that his parents would often dump him on various relatives while they were on the road). Also they were much closer in age, being only 2years apart rather than the 9 year age-gap between Jerry and Dean. In fact, they were so close that even their kids practically grew up together, went to the same schools and hung out together at each other’s houses.
Jerry was really a narcissist, and a bully. Dean was quiet, and an elegant, classy person who finally had had enough of him after 10 years, and told him, "you're nothing but a FN dollar sign to me", and stormed off, and that was the end. Jerry was not a nice person at all, and Dean was kind, generous, helpful - but Lewis really took advantage. According to Angie Dickinson, the fights were well known, and she said it was "open warfare". Notable that Orson Welles could not stand Lewis, and same for several others.

It's clear that Frank and Dean had no need for any artificial enhancement of their vocals. These guys are the real deal! Pure tone, pure emotion and pure feel - every time they sang a song. I love how Frank sneaks in a “save me a drag will/would you” (in reference to the cigarette they’re sharing) near the end of “I got a crush on you”, it just feels like such a real and human split second moment captured on camera. Like a brief glimpse of how they act with each other off camera, or maybe it was part of the act and I’m just over thinking it.
I was never much of a Sinatra fan but I loved Deano's super smooth voice, and here you can really see, despite being heavily scripted, just how much fun they were having there. Two great friends having a ball. And I do like how Sinatra sings there, more direct, sincere and honest and less of a 'performance' it's less forced, if you follow my meaning.

Dean and Jerry also did the gay riff frequently during their heyday on the Colgate TV show in the 50s and Dean brought it to the Vegas act the Rat Pack started after the breakup.
