    Although I am partly Asian myself and know the "mainstream" Asian languages, the Yonaguni language has a positive kind of mystery, which is indescribably beautiful, like the background melody choice of yours, dear Andy. And thanks to the speaker. Arigatougozaimashita❣️😍❤️

    Yonaguni is fascinating in that the two consonants "w" and "y" have undergone fortition: w shifted to b, and y shifted to z and then d.
    Eg:
    - 野菜 is "yasai" in Japanese, cognate with Mandarin yěcài. In Yonaguni, it is "dasai"
    - The name of the island: 与那国 (Yonaguni) is "Dunan"
    - 山 is "yama" in Japanese and "dama" in Yonaguni.

      Sorry what are you talking about, how could [w] be fortify into [b], also [y] is not even a consonant and [w] is a semi vowel, do you care to elaborate? I am not sure what phones phonemes you’re referring about since you use quotation marks I’d assume it’s phonemes you’re on about? Idk about your phonetic representation if that makes sense, ta.

    • @msruag
      @msruag 5 місяців тому +3

      @@hieudo4460 isn't it obv that they meant y as [j] or [ʝ]? 💀japanese romaji uses y for [j] so the elaboration is there, wikipedia says yonaguni originally had [ʝ] which fortified into [d], and semivowels can also be fortified as has happened in gaelic

      @@parsifal2299 É possível, mas soube que na verdade há tantas dialetos das línguas Ryukyu que são na verdade ininteligíveis entre si, podendo ser chamados de línguas independentes mesmo. Há alguns vídeos mostrando isso. Realmente, pelo que me disseram, a maioria dos nossos descendentes japoneses veio de Okinawa (ou das demais ilhas do reino de Ryukyu, não sei dizer ao certo).
      Nossos descendentes deveriam fundar uma organização pra preservar estas línguas preciosas, ao invés de se promover o Nihongo como se fosse a única língua do Japão! Aproveito pra mencionar o povo Ainu, pois muitos ainda não sabem de sua existência, outra cultura muito interessante e bem mais antiga do país.
